I don't know about other countries, but I assure you, a Latin Mass here in Latin America would be a death blow. Most of the laity would run off! Catholicism needs simplicity more than ever

I'm Roman Catholic was raised Roman Catholic and I've been confirmed and I've taught catechism. All I can think of when I watch this is how the people that probably gave their hard-earned money to donate to keep the church going, are now outside praying that their precious Church won't be demolished. Very sad.

I had heard about St. Adelbert's and prayed that it would not close. I praise God that it is still in its intended form as a house of worship. It's not empty because you are inside. Thank you. Please say a Hail Mary for the church and all those who will come to know God, but have no one to pray for them.

Many Diocese combined churches in the late 80's through early 00's and in the process of those combinations closed many parish buildings.. Berlin, Wisconsin for example, the Diocese of Madison closed St. Joseph's, then later St. Stanislaus.. The only reason St. Michael's in town is still being used is because it's attached to the last remaining building of the Catholic School (used to be three separate schools with convents (School Sisters of Notre Dame who also taught at the schools), then combined with Elementary, Middle, and Junior High, then combined to two, then now all that's left is the one. But then also the era of "Old is out, new is better" opting to build new mega-churches instead of renovating and maintaining older buildings. There's churches FAR more grand than this pretty much abandoned by the different Diocese scattered all around the region!!! It's truly sad because the quality of craftsmanship is lost...

After the reforms of the second Vatican council, many traditional temples and churches had been sadly been closed or renovated. This is currently becoming a bigger problem, as Pope Francis has recently made a traditionis custodes which heavily restricts the act of performing the traditional rite of the Latin Mass. This is a very saddening time for the Catholic Church, but we will persevere.

I'm agnostic and don't care all too much about religion but to me, buildings like this with so much elegance and raw beauty deserve to be kept up and maintained.

Jesus won’t rebuild this church. Look at those statues. Read Exodus 20. He hates idol worship. Catholic pray to Mary instead of Jesus Christ. We use this time to prepare for eternity and thats either with God and are alligned with Him or seperated from God. You either know Him or you don't. It's just a building because Jesus said the church was the people and didn't care where He taught. Wordly problems will be bound to this earth so it's not important just a building. The poor will always be amoung us so it's never enough and if we feel like because we gave once it can justify a reason to stop well that's not true. It's never enough there's always more we could do but that's a choice you can either feel like you're done and you did your part and that's fine or you can accept the fact that until Jesus comes it'll never be enough but we can do what we can no excuses

If I had to assume what church this was, it is St. Adalbert, it is in a Polish neighborhood of Chicago. I know I might be leaking it but please do not vandalize this place!

Us at UCSB can only dream of a beautiful church like this, we have a small but extremely packed parish cared for by the Franciscans.

It's a beautiful building. It would be a shame to knock it down. I hope they turn it into something useful.

If you read the Early Church Fathers - the disciples of the apostles & their disciples - you will see how the earliest Christians honored Mary (to this day, we don’t worship her, but we honor her as the mother of Our Lord). We love & honor our own mothers & the mothers of our friends...how much more deserving of honor is the mother of our Lord & God, who created her to be His mother? 😊

@@mercedes_72 Careful reading of the scriptures will show you errored as the bible does not say "Blessed mother". You are correct that she did say every generation would call her blessed but I might point Christ called a lot of people blessed in the bible. While Jesus was teaching the multitudes, “a certain woman from the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, ‘Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts which nursed You!’” (Luke 11:27). Jesus responded, “More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it” Again, Jesus made it clear that there was nothing about Mary that elevated her above anyone else who heard the Word of God and obeyed it. Jesus Himself taught us not to consider His mother as the “Mother of God,” a person to be worshipped. Why read the early church fathers when I have God's word. Neither Christ or the apostles every prayed to Mary nor was she treated any differently than any other woman. I must disagree with that; Mary is totally worshipped by the Catholic church. The church took a Jewish woman that was a sinner like all of us, had other children, eventually died and was buried. They made her a goddess by saying she was sinless, made her a perpetual virgin, ascending into heaven and a queen. That is worship and it doesn't end there. They say she is making guest appearances all around the world. Nothing less than idol worship. Mary, like all prophets and apostles, followed the will of God and should be admired but that is where it ends.

Dear Jesus Christ, in your name, I pray in your Name, may this beautiful Church open again. May your Holy, Adorable Sacrifice be celebrated in that Holy Altar again. Amen Lord Jesus, in your Holy, Mighty Glorious Name.

I'm so happy to see that no one has stolen the beautiful artwork and artifacts. I'm sadden to see that no one thought to remove the beautiful Crucifix, Stations of The Cross or any of the Items that mean so much to Roman Catholics

Catholicism kept me in bondage for 28 years. I was not led to Jesus, I was not led to the bible, and I was not filled with the Holy Spirit. I was taught to do vain traditions and outright idolatry. Thank God I am free from this dead church. I am born again and filled with the Holy Ghost. I know my redeemer now. His name is Jesus and He deserves the praise. Not mary, not saints, not the pope, not the priest. O thankyou Jesus for the work you have done in my life. I KNOW WHOM I HAVE BELIEVED ON

@@brotherdj777 I got one better, I pissed off the Priest so much he stop the whole mass. Not to mention sneaking into the side of the Church just to try on the Alter Boy outfits ( remember back in the day it was only boy that could accompany the Priest ) I was a horrible child

I believe that churches like that are empty because the funds to keep it running (electricity, water, taxes, etc) aren’t being met, so the government has to step in because they couldn’t pay their bills. Please pray for parishes around the world to be able to stay open.

As a Catholic myself, I hope that that old Roman Catholic Church will actually get to be used again. Maybe a traditional Latin mass community could get it

Lord please save this church! Bring Catholics back to the faith. This new generation of priests are good men and they should not have to bear the weight of the sins of the generation who hurt people.

I am about to cry for the beautiful abandoned Roman Catholic church. We know what happened to it and it is a very sad situation that has happened. But friends have faith becausevGod is in charge and nobody else. Keep the faith fellow Catholics - I am. Let God's will be done. TC. Guess Cardinal Cupich doesn' t want the SSPX to say TLMs. I think most Catholics should join the SSPX it follows the True Magisterium and has been growing because it is so traditional and holds firm to the Doctrines of Jesus, Scripture, the 10 Commandments. I found it during the V when Bishops had closed our Churches.

This is heartbreaking. Prayer warriors, grab your rosaries and lets pray for this to be restored and for Christ to reside there once more. (I've seen ads that 75-150 churches, per week are closing.. how sad is the world not to realize we need them!).

I hate to be that guy, but it's pretty funny that they spent millions of dollars building this opulent and grandiose church, and now it's empty and worthless. The irony deepens because the people used to recite the teachings of Yeshua in that absurd castle, a man who who went to where the fishermen and lepers and prostitutes were and taught them by drawing in the dirt. Jesus loved the poor, not 40ft ceilings😒

People are the church . This is just a beautiful building. Just because people have stopped going to the church building's, doesnt mean they have left God. With all the disgusting things that are going on in the church's now , that's why people have turned their backs on the church building's , not God. 🤷‍♀️ ✝️🛐

Find out how in Western Massachusetts St Stanislaus parishioners banded together, after years fought the priest, good attorneys, it remains open with Masses don’t be afraid!! Fight for this!

In not catholic I’m Christian but that church is beautiful and needs someone to clean it and paint it

Follow in the footsteps of Saint Francis of Assisi! He worked hard to repair the church in San Damiano. Let us not have God’s beautiful places of worship crumble!

It is so very beautiful. It has got to be saved. Some of the paintings are beyond words. The light fixtures are breathtaking. Whomever is responsible for this place must stop its further decline.

I am Catholic. Quite used to it living in western part of the World. It doesn’t matter. Prayer 🙏 matters all this building will turn to dust nothing will last in centuries

WOW....this church is absolutely gorgeous!! Sad to think it all may be left to completely rot away or eventually be demolished 😥.... I hope that someone will save this church or at least save all the beautiful artwork/stained glass before it's to late!!!
