Hi Scott! I grew up in glorious Potter County. My family has lived in Potter and Tioga County (PA) since the early or mid 1800s. Did you know that Potter County is also known as "Gods Country"? I too have explored many "back road", "off the beaten path" areas and will never stop being drawn to the history in PA. This video, well, is simply beautiful. Thank you for capturing the past and the present, taking the time to slow down and share what most people may never get to view, especially from the angles you show. Adding pictures of how areas looked "back in the day" is another great feature. Thank you to you and the people that assist and accompany you on your wonderful adventures. May your journeys be many and be safe

At 25:17 you are looking into a hole into the basement. Back in maybe 2011 I was crawling over that EXACT hole out of the ceramic tile area and I dropped my car keys down there. Part of me died at that moment. I had gone alone that day. I am not even from PA. And no one knew I was there. So I had to go down there and shimmy across those beams/boards and get my keys back. Back then the water was up to my waist. As soon as I got my car keys I left soaked and shaking. I tell the story from time to time, but I have NEVER had exact visual to go with it. Thanks for this and I hope you get a chuckle out of my story. lol

There was NOTHING haphazard about this explore. Many safety precautions were in place and YES... EVERY STEP was watch like a frickin hawk. Along with watching each step, there were "soundings" done with tapping of feet and metal to listen for "hollow" sounds. The entire exploration took about 3-4 hours, the video is only 20 minutes long

It was not flexing. And I was trusting the rebar far more than the concrete. We kept doing "knock" checks for the hollow sound concrete makes when broken or able to be vibrated. It was a bit sketch. :D

When you hit this site, make sure you have a buddy and pick and choose EVERY STEP YOU TAKE. For the most part it was safe, but it was quite sketchy at certain points.

I thought it was odd to hear the closure from Appvion. I wonder if that will roll all the way to Tyrone and then to my little homestead with companies like Acco (formerly Mead/WestVaco).

Hey! I don’t know if you have or not but a video on the turn pike tunnels would be cool! Maybe explain why they decided to just go around the two mountains instead of just drilling new tunnels beside the old ones. Because that still in my head makes more sense than making it longer.

That is the same thing that happened to me. We went to see the Austin dam and had no idea that the paper mill ruins were still there. Shame too, because there wasn't enough time left to explore it. Had I known I'd have definitely worked in enough time for it. Excellent footage too, I'm blown away.

It was probably my most favorite explore to date. When I did Austin Dam, I had 3 days of research pumped into the 10 minute video... when we got out there and I saw the Paper Mill, I was like, "WAIT, WHAT???" All the historical research claimed the mill went down in the dam breech. Again, people writing stories in order to attract you to a location for THEIR purposes and not the sharing of OUR history.

AMEN to that! I do not favor politics within the videos. It is a story of who we once were, and in many cases still are. It is about the HISTORY, the truth of what happened. Not about how people argued, but about the choices the made and the prices they paid. It is about LEARNING and EXPLORING.
