Abandoned Old Lathe - Restoration
Ғылым және технология
In this video I'm restoring an old lathe machine.
This small lathe was sitting in an old barn for many years. Although it doesn't have a motor, all the other parts are functional. I don't know the story behind this machine, how old is it or who built it, but it sure doesn't deserve to be left in poor condition like this. I want to make it look like new again, so I am leaving a dull surface on most parts.
What do you think of this restoration? Please leave a comment.

The quality and precision that went into designing and building that lathe is unreal. You don’t get that craftsmanship these days.
Flawless.. Perfect procedure to restore.... Honestly the patience and sheer fucking will to clean each bold is masterfull

Il restauro meccanicamente é venuto molto bene ...mi sarebbe piaciuto vederlo lavorare con un motore che lo facesse girare e comunque complimenti

Thank you very much. This lathe is one of my first restoration projects so I think I will actually leave it like this and display it in my garage, it is a great looking model.

It’s kind of useless and pointless to do all this restoration just to display it in your garage
Nice

How is this lathe driven?

The chuck on this lathe is fixed so I guess it was meant to be just a model. I tried to install an old drill in place of this chuck and it will work, but it is not as accurate as the larger lathes and can not take the higher loads because of the drill head.
No test?
It really came out nice! as a machinist you should have left it in the trash.
After doing all this restoration, you should at least hook up a motor to it and do something with it. It’s kind of useless to see the restoration process of something that might not even work.

Hook up a motor to what?
Also, the new grub screws you selected to use are too long. The grub screw is meant to be sitting flush with the surface not sticking up the way you have them. I am merely making these comments not to put you down, but to make you a more watchable KZreadr, if you wish to grow your channel, you need to listen to some of the advice from the viewers
