Abandoned Caddy! 1960 Cadillac Sedan DeVille! Will It Run?!?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I recently purchased this relatively complete 1960 Cadillac Sedan DeVille from a gentleman who responded to a want ad I had placed. He said he heard it run when he purchased it as a project "several" years ago. Let's see if we can get this 390 Caddy V8 to fire up once again! If you're interested in the complete car with a title in the as shown condition it can be purchased for $3,500. If you would like to purchase the car as a roller and we keep the engine and transmission you can take this flattop home to your garage for only $1,500! As always, thanks for watching!

Cool old Caddy! I remember back in the late '70s one of my favorite pastimes was walking through old auto salvage yards, and I found a '61Coupe DeVille that was that same color (they called it Fontana Rose that year). It was in great condition (of course, it wasn't that old back then!), just needed a radiator and alternator (first year) to be complete. The guy running the yard wanted $150 for the car as it sat. Alas, I was a broke college student then, and the next time I visited the salvage yard, the car had been crushed...

Yup, you always know when you see a previous "master" mechanic's custom exhaust work, like that, your best friend is gonna be a reciprocating saw or cutting torch. Best to just cut all of it off and start over.....Cause, there is no way you can match or compete with their next level work and creativity. That classic has multiple examples of a True Master of Advanced-Monkey Engineering. Best to cut it all off, so you won't look bad next to their work? Not to mention the high quality of the previous electrical wiring modifications and custom metal fabricated tow hitch assembly. Haha! My brain lacks the proper words to describe what you showed us....

In 1974 I was a senior in high school and was taking an auto mechanics class, so I bought a black '60 Caddy from the junkyard. I ended up taking it partway apart then sending it back to the junkyard. It had a 4 speed automatic, dual exhaust with mufflers and resonators, a longer than normal battery, This was the first year for the spin on oil filter and the last year for dual exhaust. Mine did not have AC like this one, but it did have the Perfect Circle cruise control. I took that unit out and opened it up to see what was inside. When I go to a car show and see a '60 Caddy, the first thing I look for is the cruise control knob, and I rarely see it. The headlight dimmer in the '59 Caddy was the Autronic Eye, and in '60 It was smaller and was called Guidematic.

Hey Mortske, we all Know it’s getting colder, and it is hoodie season. Pull your hoodie strings out your hoodie, we all been there trying to start a rig up with a fan turning. Hoodie strings and fans turning ain’t no joke. Fans can pull your face off, make your head disappear. Take your hoodie strings out your hoodie. You know you leaning over a fan blade all the time. Don’t be that guy that gets wasted. Love the content. Be safe.

Thanks for the video under adverse conditions. We get those ice storms here in NC, but not often, about every twenty years. I hope someone sends you a Duff sign. I’d vote for him.

Great job with this! The ice storm and power failure was a minor interruption, but the show went on. I agree with the lower control arm for the rear axle needing to be addressed before going for a drive. I have never seen one that rotted out.

Enjoyed the entertainment as usual. The Caddy carcass is pretty much toast but the old 390 sounds great and would be a nice transplant for any vintage vehicle. Had a few power outages in my area of Upper Canada in recent years due to ice storms as well.

Love the old caddys, i've driven one hard and it was a loads of fun! Next upgrade maybe a propane powered generator? And get one of those plug in power meters to see how much power your using, without melting your current generator!
