Abandoned Ames in Wrightstown, NJ (Went inside this time)

I had originally came to this abandoned Ames but did not go inside since I was by myself and took precautions. But this time I came with a friend and went inside where the small section of the Ames collapsed, there was a fence there but got our way into it since they didn’t cover it entirely. What I learned was that part of the store collapsed because of heavy winds and rain during April. We also discovered a bunch of stuff in the back of store, which was weird and looked like it came from a school with all the kiddie books, chairs, nursing equipment and office supplies. I also saw the Ames cart with the original logo, which was awesome. This plaza might be demolished, there was mold, leakage, broken glass and it’s a ghost town there.

The door at 5:26 was cracked open and that was how I got in. I just pulled it right open. Cant believe how that place just collapsed like that considering how sturdy it looked when I was there in 2018. Just shows how dangerous that place can be. I see they finally shut the power off after all that time. Nice exploration! Thanks for the update video. I've been wanting to visit this one again.

Np, glad you liked it. I hit you up on Instagram a few weeks ago and you didn’t reply back lol. I wanted to know if you wanna do a collab video sometime in the spring or summer. Btw, I posted an abandoned Jamesway in Red Lion, PA. You should check that one out!

Wow, this building looks wretched. Those were some potentially dangerous conditions inside. Great work!

Yeah, its been abandoned since 2002. I’ve never personally been in an Ames store when I was a lot younger but seemed like a nice store. Too bad they had competition with other retailers like Walmart, Target, Kmart, etc. and the fact that they took over past retailer locations put them into too much debt which led to their downfall of being bankrupt I believe 2 times. Thanks, I’m glad you liked the video!

@@jimmartin7881 It looks like the stuff from the back of the building all came from a school, pretty weird. I’m glad I came inside this place before it got demolished. Don’t know how long it’s gonna be like that, especially the rest of the shopping plaza too

This was a very eery type of video, felt like a found footage film. Albeit that further added to my enjoyment of it LOL What was all that stuff doing in there? Odd how learning material like that would be in an abandoned store like that, though it looked like it was in an enclosed place since you know half the Ames collapsed. I wouldn't think that stuff would be feasible to use anymore since who knows what was running over it, as well as being exposed to the elements. Better off just demolishing it at this point. It must've been opened until the chain ceased in 2002, seeing the records of that year in there and all.

I'm guessing some school used that place as storage for documents, furniture and such and never came back and took the stuff out. That whole shopping strip is dead now, I think the only business that's open there is that Chinese restaurant

It's crazy how all that stuff was left behind in the back, probably left as storage at some point

Ames had an auto service center! I bet this was once a Zayres Department Store before Ames took it over. Most Ames I knew of didn't have that or a garden area. This must've been a Zayre at one time

It was actually a Grant City that opened up in the 70s, closed in 75-76' and then turned into Jamesway and then that closed in 1995, then Ames took over and then that closed down with the rest of the chain in 2002. It had quite some history

Yeah I saw online the information that the part of the Ames on the left corner collapsed from the bad storm. I was able to sneak thru the fence and get inside that way
