Solid video!!!!

Great video! ive been looking into upgrading from my A7III as i notice in photos im left desiring a higher resolution, and also id love to color grade the videos i take but im held back by 8bit colors. Ive been looking between the a7iv and just recently the a7cii. however im wondering if theres going to be a slightly higher end camera releasing sometime soon like the a9iii

There might be for sure... but even if that is the case, I think these are amazing options

I would like to get the a7cii as a hybrid shooter but flash sync of 1/160 and max shutter speed of 1/4000 vs 1/250 1/8000 on the a7iv are just important for me as taking photos. It's a real shame they cannot be matched with the a7iv

What about the only one SD card slot on the A7cii for professional work?

I wanted to upgrade from my a6500 with the a6700. It's been six weeks i ordered it and it's still on hold... which gave me a bit too much time to think about all that. I've been considering the idea of putting a bit more on the table, as my two main lenses are ff, it's not going to be a painful entry in the ff world... so why not just investing a bit more and getting a a7c2 (I really like the form factor) or the a7iv. I'm just an amateur, currently doing photo but contemplating the idea of doing video. Should I get good, I may have a couple of small paid opportunities. But since that's really uncertain I'm still not sure what to shoot for. A7c2 looks fun. A7iv looks safer with dual sd slot. Tough choices. Or i just stick to the a6700, get good then upgrade (or rent) if a small gig opportunity shows up... 🤔

I have A7iv but it is a large camera for vlogging and it gets heavy when you are holding the camera for a long time. Should I go and pick a7cii or fx30? Or maybe a6700?

Hi, when a7cii video goes into 1.5 crop does the video quality decrease compared to full frame? or is there no quality effect just cropped in? Thanks

Hey, I’m a hybrid shooter that uses mostly Fujifilm X-T4. I do a lot of cinematic photography and video and want to move to the Sony ecosystem, by your recommendations do you think A7IV or the A7CII would be better?

Great video. I'm not sure if I should go for the FX30 or the ZV-E1. I used to have the a6400 and now I have the ZV-E10 (I only have APSC lenses). 90% of the time I make videos, but not professionally, just as a hobby. What would be your recommendation? Thanks.

If all you have are APS-C lenses, I’d just stay in that ecosystem and go for the FX30. Last night I shot a whole wedding on the FX30 because I wanted to see how it would perform, as I usually prefer full frame options, and It did amazing. That camera does not disappoint! You’d love it.

If it’s for vlogs and livestreams and the occasional photos, is the a7cii better than the a7iv despite the cii has no full hdmi and 2 sd slots?

I think I want the A7cii for lowlight concert video and and documentary work; but with the smaller body I’m scared of overheating, and also people seem adamant about the dual sd card slots of the a7iv, can’t decide if I should get new 7cii or used 7iv

My A7c (I've been using for 2,5 years intensively) never overheated. Don't know about the A7c II but at least A7c never had problems.

I was surprised when reviewers say A7CII is the cheaper version of A74 because in my country, they are selling at the same price point. And A74 has been put on sale by Sony like forever so it’s even cheaper than A7CII. 😀 But I like A7CII body. 😅

Is EFCS only on the A7Cii a dealbreaker?

One hidden nerf on the a7C II and CR is their flash sync speed is 1/160, whereas the a7IV and a7RV are 1/250 sync speed. a7RV can bump flash sync to 1/320 in APSC mode I think.

Just what I was looking for as I’m looking at doing a podcast setup.

Damm thats so insightful man thanks a tone ! But still confused between zve1, Fx30, A7m4 & this new one A7cii. I am cinematographer and creator based in india and my main usages are video some times photo only for hobby ! And in I shoot outside a lot in warm weather to low light ! My need is 4k 30/60 most of the times which camera is going to be the long term beast for me? Please help me to out my hard eared money on one of them ! Thanks in advance 😊

I just scooped one for video since I have an A7RV but I kept getting told the C2 was better than the A7iV And for me it is, I’m doing product videos that are usually up close. Guess I’m just gonna wait for the next “video beast” from Sony that’s not a fx6 cube style. Just feel like the fx3 has been dominating for so long and as soon as I pull that $4k trigger something more coolerer will drop from Sony alpha and annoy my soul

A really tough choice between the FX30 and A7CII as a third video podcast camera with possible livestreams. Any help in deciding appreciated!

If you already have a couple of other cameras, I would probably go with the A7Cii because it is going to give you a lot of versatility that the FX30 won't give you. If you truly only need the camera to do video, forever, then sure, the FX30 is amazing. But if it was me, I would go for the A7Cii because I can use that camera for all sorts of things beyond video podcasting.

Totally! I have the 7AC and can’t wait to upgrade to the 7ACii as it has major improvements such as better clearer EVF, 10 bit 422, S-Cinetone, front dial, 1 more custom button, AI chip, better autofocus, much improved menu system and touch screen improvements, USB-C streaming. Very pricey though… Thanks for the great review!!!

Thank you for all these videos. Picking a camera is hard! Need Help!!! Only buying One Camera! What I need: I need a camera for podcasting (35 minutes - Hour 1:15 normally) Something that can take pictures of our newborn and pictures when we travel. Podcasting Office gets a little warm in the summer - (Worried about overheating issues) What I was looking at: I was dead set on the ZV-E1 but overheating issues scared me off! What I am now looking at: FX30 - Looks like its great for videos Sony A7CII - Looks like it could be great for videos and pictures What are your thoughts????

Both would be great. A lot of my favorite car videos are done at night, so the A7Cii would be a little better at low light situations. But either would be amazing.

I just bought the Sony a7iv a week ago as my first camera ever. Should I send it back and get sony a7cii or keep it?

They are super similar in 4K 60FPS. Can hardly tell a difference in my opinion. Both are great options!

Do you mean ISO 400 not 4000 for the FX30 low light hack as that is the upper dual base level?

Sorry if I was unclear. What I meant was... if you are shooting in S-Log 3 and don't want to deal with a noisy image, once you reach ISO 4000, rather than continuing to shoot ing S-Log 3, swap over to S-Cinetone because the image is much cleaner. Trying to maintain 1-2 stops over exposed in S-Log 3, and maintain a clean image in low light situations gets difficult on the FX30. By simply switching over to S-Cinetone at around 4000 ISO, you can save a lot of headache with noise/color.

what about A7Cii overheating ?

I really don't think it will be much of an issue for most people. As of right now I don't think it's a factor. But we will see.

As a hobbyist that has been using high end APSC cameras. I would like to upgrade to the A7CII. I think it’s about $300 over priced for what it is. The price is pushing me to the 6700 or maybe an A73. I really would like to have the new color science and auto focus of the A7CII. Plus the silver looks cool. I think it’s the best looking Sony camera.

If you’re hesitant on price than I’d go for the A6700. It’ll feel similar in a lot of ways and has updated color science!

buy used I just bought a open box a7cii from amazon for $1998 and I was still able to register it for the sony $50 gift card.

Seems in the comments more are confused than not. I'm agreed.

Damn the old A7iv camera body design looking old ...ill wait for the a7v

working wit a7cii and a7siii and fx3 and a7 4 the a7cii in slog3 has a very pronounced pink in the skin vs the other cameras - just bad

Thanks for guidance, I realized that I can live without extra AI chip but on day today use I will have more versatility and better control over camera with good grip, more functional buttons, Better EVF and joy stick with A7IV. I cancelled A7Cii order and re ordered A7IV
