Good information, my 94 ranger has this trans and I'll be tackling the band adjustments soon.

That's a good repair. In the 80s Ford did not have an exchange program and all transmissions had to be repaired in the dealership which made for competent trans techs

Yeah, repairs were more involved back then. Specifically when cooler and transmission were not properly cleaned.

@AutomaticTransmission hey brother I got a question for you I'm stumpped & been looking for a way to reach out to you. I just recently rebuilt my bmxa transmission with a master rebuild kit along with the translab shift kit, upgraded filter & new torque converter. When I first had it all done while the car was in jackstand I started the vehicle and begain to go into all the gears to make sure everything was working properly however when I went to put the vehicle back in park I didn't realize the hubs were spinning & I got a slight grind when trying to put it in park, I then proceeded to kill the engine & continue into park. Once I got the vehicle back on the ground I topped off the fluid & drove the car for about 30 min or so and the car ran perfect no problems at all. I brought the car back to my shop and parked it for about 30 min before I got back in the car and was heading home, I stopped by the store on the way & when I went to out the car in reverse this time I notices a slight jerking in reverse "it didn't previously do this in reverse" so I drove back to the shop "just fine" and parked the car afraid to mess up the trans. The next morning I took the trans back out of the car and cracked it back open to inspect my work and everything looked just fine however there were metal shavings in the transmission "I'm assuming from when I tried to previously put it in park". So I cleaned the whole transmission again and put it completly back together "with new filter again" put it back in the car, filled the fluids and now I'm getting a clattering from the transmission in park & natural put in reverse or drive 1,2 or 3 there's no clattering at all & the car drives just fine except reverse. So now I have a clattering in park & natural and slight hesitation almost like a jerking in reverse. I'm on the edge of selling it all and being done with it yet I'm almost 7k in on this car rebuild and would fix it if I knew exactly where to pin point I just can't keep throwing money at it blindly. Thanks for your help
