Sorry about the wrong AFL spring in there, but no worries it will work just fine with the orange spring. The difference is extremely small, matter of fact we used the orange spring for a while during the R&D phase. As for the end plugs, we don't provide an end plug for the TCC regulator valve bore because the only time fluid goes there in when you are in P/R/N or D below 3 mph on take off. If you look at the hydraulics you will see that SS1 output fluid goes between the shuttle valve and the regulator valve to block the regulator inboard towards its spring. The rest of the time there is no fluid there, so the OE end plug does not need updating. I will pass along your observation regarding the shuttle valve that you notice lose its anodizing, maybe we should indeed consider making a replacement for it. As for the compensator valve we have looked into it before, as you mention the issue is really cleanliness, there is nothing wrong per say with the OE valve so we leave it alone. But hey, maybe it is time to revisit this and consider a valve design that would be less prone to sticking. Thanks for all the suggestions and observations, it is greatly appreciated. Oh and yes, you are correct in your understand of the function of the balance hole in our PR valve. Keep up the good work!

I have installed 2 of these kits. One in a 6l80, one in a 6l90. It definitely cleans up the shifts!! Clean, crisp shifts and when pushed the transmission responds with even tighter, firmer, solid shifts. It’s understandably “expensive” (to the bean counters anyway) but I plan to use them in every unit I build. I believe the kit makes what I feel like is a great transmission even better. I only wish there was a way to filter the trash from the converter and keep it from destroying the expensive pump parts.

Hey Hiram, if you have a few minutes could you answer a 6l80 question for me? I have a 2016 Silverado (5.3 with 6l80). My torque converter started to go out a little while back, but it never blew up or made the transmission overheat. A GM mechanic friend and myself dropped the transmission and replaced the torque converter and fluid that drained out in the process. We did not change the filter or flush the system. Now, after a few hundred miles, 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd are slipping extremely bad when the transmission reaches 150f or more. The transmission fluid is a bit darker, but not burnt, and there are no visible metal particles on the dipstick. Would you believe this is more of a clutch material being removed from the fluid, or a solenoid issue, or something else entirely? I'd really appreciate your time, as I only have a general understanding of how transmissions work, and you really know what you're doing. Thanks

I had a shop rebuild my trans from the TC going out almost a year ago now. sometimes at idle i get a odd sound like a power steering pump low on fluid moaning and groaning builder says it because of the sonnax or trans go valve he installed. second issue I'm having is after the trans is warmed up and i stop somewhere for a few mins and get back in and drive on the 1-2 and 2-3 up-shits i will get a bang right after the shift. 3rd issue I'm having is the trans temp around town it will go anywhere from 160 to 196 and highway anywhere from 160-175 and this is with the bypass installed. when i had the bypass installed before i never saw temp above 170 town or highway on a hot day. with the rebuild the pump was not replaced which i wasn't happy about and the techm was not replaced. everything else was supposedly overhauled.

Torque converter is a big issue with these. Even remanufactured converter fails prematurely. Have him drop the pan and inspect for metal contamination. If there's metal in there the converter needs to be protected. And transmission needs to be cleaned, specially the valve body.

Those pumps get ruined from torque converter failures on 90% of these models 60/70/80/90E transmissions. Seems rather a waste to have to replace an entire "bell housing" pump and stator because of this at a fairly low mileage. Not only this but those parts are getting difficult to get in a timely fashion.
