A YJ my Way | V8, One Tons and 40's
Burt bought the Jeep brand new in 1995, upgraded it over the years and drives it several times every week. Rain or shine! On and Off-Road!

Sweet Jeep! I have had my 93 Jeep YJ for 15 years and love how capable it is for us. (Snowboarding phase atm) I'm rolling with 35" stt pro's and just last year I put a 89 Jeep Comanche 4.0 engine in her. 60k miles. It's always a work in progress with upgrading everything and this build you have is a great inspiration to me.
That is a clean YJ man

Absolutely killer rig! Love the bike on the rack too.
Wow that sound! All jeeps should sound like that.
Love the LQ9 under the hood. Very very nice rig.
Absolutely a lovely build guys!!! Not much else to say because it’s just so nice. I like his reasonings for driving his Jeep, for mountain biking etc.. I use my Jeep for a specific reason. I’m a long range marksman that shoots long range and extended long range several days a week and I love the study of ballistics. My rig has to be able to get me on the abandoned coal strip mines here in Wv. My rig has to be able to travel the side by side trails so my rig can’t be too big. My entire Jeep jk is built just for shooting long range. Probably a boring story but I wanted to share. Thank you for a great story!!!
Very nice please to hear you have had it 20 years and still looks great, I have a 99 TJ I have had it 16 years have a super blessed day
Burt's YJ is so STICKY dude. One of my favorite rigs for suuuuuure
Sweet YJ. Owned mine since 01. Done a V8 swap in 02. Daily driver ever since. Starting to show some age now though. Still my main vehicle.

Very cool! Nothing beats a V8 YJ!
I love it this is the ultimate YJ. But he is still keeping it real with washers to shim the seat height. I love it. I dont feel bad now about my YJ
We love Burts YJ! It's a beast!
Nice YJ!! My first vehicle was a 94' YJ 4cyl that I lifted with a trail master lift and put 33" tires on. I traded it when i needed a daily driver for college that could handle interstate speeds but its what lead me to buying the Gladiator I have now 25 years later. I had it fixed up well after breaking many parts including rebuilding the engine after hydrolocking it in a deep mud hole. I still see it occasionally but the lift is gone but the wheels and sliver stripe make it stick out from the others
keeping my YJ forever now- RAD red Patagonia jacket. awesome review and video.
Sick YJ. I love those Genright kits!
Nice build. I have a 95 YJ little lift with 32 BFG mud T. Its funny you have 6.0 in your because I also own a GMC Yukon Denali has 6.0. always said wish my YJ had this motor.
Nice Jeep !! I can't wait to rebuild mine !!
That is an awesome rig. Thanks for sharing this video.
Awesome build !!
Dawsonville GA.. I definitely know those landmarks, that’s insane how close I am to the jeep

I have a 95 yj. I’m not quit built though. I’m running a Ford 9” and d44. 38.5 tires with 4” lift. I’m hoping to put it back in my shop and work on it some more. I can’t get much more than 36” on a ramp without my back tire coming off the ground. You have a very nice jeep!!
Love them Jeeps!! We are building a YJ LS swap!!
Great Build!

Exactly how I have been planning my build. The only thing I would change is the air intake. K&N filters suck dirt and yours is exposed to possible water intake. Thanks for sharing.

That jeep doesnt ever see water or mud. It mostlikely sees rocks and dry and thats aboutnti. 10 years and 40k miles with a kn must be doing ot wrong right
The only thing that’s stopping me from progressing with my YJ like you is, I would like to start with more body length, interior length (LJ). Beautiful build. Thanks
Nice YJ, Burt! It's a little bigger than mine, though. I'm going 5.3, an AX15 Atlas, 60rear and 44 front on 35s. I'm already so far over budget and behind schedule, it resembles a government program. Coilovers are still on the wish list though.

Brad Ellis save money do a 44 front and rear with a truss kit for both. On 35s shoul be plenty of strength unless you’re doing 37s later

44 with upgrades is fine for 37s if you know how to drive. 60's are way overkill.

I'm running a 5.7 out of a 98 Tahoe, nv4500 first gen, .... still building mine Odd ball thing, full chevy harness, including using a cluster out of a Tahoe, was able to modify the dash to accept it
That is one awesome YJ....
Lot of strong upgrades, build em strong, they last long.

I believe this jeep is still on jeepforum.com its nice to see the video of it
I'm doing the GM 5.3L L83 genV and gm 8 spd or 12spd but w/ Atlas T-case With dual fuel tanks for a 600-700 mile range. My goal is over landing, with the most range I can get.
Nice video and yj 👍
Let me start by saying that this is an awesome and beautiful Jeep! BUT......other than the square headlights and the dash, there’s not a whole lot of YJ left in it! LoL! Just some friendly ribbing, don’t attack me! I love the Jeep and making them your own and specific to your needs is what they’re all about!! Plus, us square headlights gotta stick together!!

wow very nice...love your suspension and V8. Thanks for showing! My YJ- 350 v8, 4 speed manual rock crusher with twin sticks, 37's on 8 lug 60/HD44, modified body etc....was my "fun" year project....now if I could just get your suspension! peace. Edit: oops forgot ...8" lift, high-steer, dual batteries, LED's all over the place lol, removable mud flaps (to keep the cops off my tail), custom bumper w/ 12K winch, front hitch/receiver (very handy for pulling dead cars up the trailer and moving my boat around)… custom rear swing-out spare tire rack that also holds (2) 5 gallon jerry cans and (4) propane bottles for the stove...I keep all my camping/fishing gear in it year-round so when I 'feel the need' I can just throw some food and water in and go....love it. But I hope I never get a flat by myself because I can't lift the spare 37" tire by myself onto (or off) the rack anymore, I'm 66! Geese!
In 85 i got my first jeep...1 piece glass tub...big block hemi 2 stick t case.....and u dont look 40 yrs old to me

What is measurement from end of tire to end of tire? And how much back space do you have on your wheels? I’m trying to build a low COG Yj on 40’s. How is body roll/stability, Ever try the antirock sway bar? Beautiful Jeep man

this jeep is just bad ass. wonder if it sees any trails or mud.
I know this channel will grow. Adding some more detailed shots of the not only the suspension components but its up travel and down travel limits/numbers would be great at capturing its true off road capabilities. The distance between his air bump and bump pad confuses me, wish I could have seen more. Hopeful to see him featured in some wheeling videos.

My guess is its more of a down travel build with those coil overs. Plus with the over sized 40s, you need to limit uptravel.. guess he had 37s on it and it just didn't look big enough and considered.. fuck it lets go 40s and limit some uptravel. Which could do him some good on the trail also.
Where is the update of Burt’s YJ getting lowered ?? Been waiting seems like forever? And are there any wheeling videos of his YJ ?
I have a 90 yj. I've got 12 bolt axles under it from an 85 k5 blazer but I want to go ahead and ditch the leaf springs. I'm thinking jk or tj Dana 44s for something that would be an easy conversion. What would you recommend if you were in my shoes?
This is exactly what I want for my LJ😂
Only in a Jeep! 👍👍👍👍👍👍
It's gonna be awhile before my jeep looks like this... I'm still in the beginning of building..still haven't found a jeep to build.. but after that it'll just come together

Yes! Just get in your shop, turn on the rock and roll and get to work! lol. To some of us, doing all the fabrication is all the fun. Drive it for awhile, and then start a new project. The key is to get as many tools as you can along the way and always finish your project...if you don't, you'll end up having a yard full of unfinished projects and you'll feel like a dumbass. My first street rod project took 6 years...and I worked on it almost every day after work and most every weekend...6 years! The next one took 4 years, the next 1 year...it gives me something to do besides drinking and getting in trouble plus I learn a lot...good luck with your project!

I have had the stt pros since 2017 and have put roughly 20,000 miles on them. Great all around tire. Almost like a mud terrain/all terrain hybrid. Just make sure to rotate or they will cup and become noisy. Brand new they are very quiet tires.
Please elaborate more on the tire carrier. I have a YJ and want to do something like this for a 37” tire.

Now that is a beast and the owner sounds like a sound dude . If you don't mind me asking what is the total cost to make a YJ like his ? ALL mods included ( engine , suspension , axles , metal work ... the lot )
@heathweeks1985
3 жыл бұрын
Im at ~18k for suspension, axles, and steering alone. Probably another ~15k for motor swap. And thats having a professional shop do all the work. Add another ~5k for miscellaneous parts, and you got a rig just like this.... The first question I was asked when dropping my '95 YJ off at the shop was, "how committed are you to this build?". It was a hard pill to swallow spending ~30-40k on an already capable rig, but at the end of day the question still remains, "how committed are you?"
