The fact that he is making his own birthday cake is amazing. I love when he questions the tablespoon to teaspoons conversion. “How sure are you? There’s a lot at stake here!” I absolutely love that. My husband has a hand full of meals that he knows how to do and I LOVE LOVE LOVE when he decides he wants to cook dinner. They are far in between but highly appreciated. He knows how to do one dessert and makes it maybe once a year. Which is completely okay. I’m not a huge fan of sweets. He has the sweet tooth in this house. It’s not only nice to not have to do it but having him just in the kitchen with me is nice. I too do all the cooking and preserving so I know how lonely it gets being alone in the kitchen for what seems like forever. It’s nice seeing Josh in there with you! ❤

OMG, Becky has a guest chef on the show today. This is a treat.

Really enjoyed watching Josh and you in the kitchen baking and cooking, maybe we could see him with his favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe in the future!

Becky, a suggestion for when you are adding cream and milk, if you are using the same measuring cup/glass, add the cream first, then pour the milk into the container that you had measured the cream in, because the milk will help get the rest of the cream out of the container you had used.

Love to hear Josh refer to his ingredients as materials! 😂 it’s great that he is enjoying learning to bake, and being experimental with different fats, etc.. That’s truly the way to becoming a great baker. Happy birthday, Josh!

I love Josh’s comment, “This is a little weird but we’re just going to commit to it!” It’s a beautiful thing when a person finds something that brings them joy! Here I am 53 and the past 2 years I’ve been doing fluid art. It relaxes me and brings so much joy to my heart to see other’s enjoy it as well. It’s kinda the same with cooking/baking. I have a large Italian/French family and I love to cook and bake since 10 yrs old. My children are now living far from me so I don't have the large meals.that often but oh what a joy it was. Becky, we like using lemon sugar too. I use it for cakes, scones, and cookies. I just fill a large deli container to within 1 1/2” of the top, and add the zest of 4 lemons to it, and mix thoroughly. The longer it sets, the more like lemon it tastes.

I lived in a small SoCal house, for Thanksgiving we took the furniture out of our living room after our time chatting and moved in two long tables and everyone helped set up. Really good memories.

Well I ended up making that cake as my wedding cake back in January! All of our guests loved it! It was so delicious and so fun to make! We also had a very tight budget so all of the DIY projects were done including making our own food/cake and it was so fun!

Just a tip. Mix the cheese in with the sauce before adding to pasta. It will just help protect the pasta from being smashed❤ The next time you have a very large dinner, you could move all the furniture in the lounge into a back room so you can have all the tables in the same room like a mini restaurant. Its nicer when you can all be together and be able to chat together. You could also put all the tables together around the room and have a ctr table or two to hold all the food❤❤❤ We always do all the food and stay together but i never dress up the table like you do. Your tables are always so pretty❤

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOSH WITH, you did a great job! With my Bosch, I just dump and mix ingredients, no need to dirty extra bowls. When I make bread, the Bosch cleans the sides, so after shaping loafs, I just throw in cookie ingredients in and mix up. ( Also I can make 1 loaf bread, a few buns, pizza crust, and a few Cinnamon Rolls out of same recipe)Since I have the oven heated, I bake the cookies after the bread items.. Easy clean up Takes no time to have a weeks baking done in 1 1/2 hr.

Looks awesome! My mom always said to season the ricotta! We always added salt pepper garlic & onion powder some nutmeg sugar and and egg. That way that layer was also seasoned and with the egg would swell up a little to fill layer or manicotti noodle. Just a suggestion. This is how I was taught! We learn from seeing others do. There are so many ways to have a wonderful outcome! Find what works for you. I enjoy seeing simpler ways. They all have their different tastes. I say try them all!!! Find what works best for you!
