    A fine video, CC. I have both G9ii and S5iiX and use the G9ii with the longer (150+mm) focal length Olympus lenses and then use the S5iiX with wide to normal focal length lenses. It's like having two identical camera bodies but without the size and weight of long FF lenses. Now if Tamron or Rokinon will just make a 35-150 f2-2.8 zoom in L mount...

    Thanks for a short and comprehensive video.Great footage and photos. I think that you should have mentioned the handheld 100 mega pixel high res. option. It's a very useful feature for photographers, mainly for landscape and stable objects. Very high-quality pictures. The low light performance if this camera is also significantly improved compared to other mft cameras. All in all, it seems like a great camera ,and I am going to replace my G9 with this new G9ii.

    Which lens were you using with the G9II?

  • @NetvoTV
    @NetvoTVАй бұрын

    Is there something similar to a Zf with 28-400mm f4-8? Do people use the dedicated shutter and ISO dials on the Zf or just get it for the look and end up just use the front for shutter and rear dials for ISO more often which means even just want to shoot with small lenses, the Z6III will make more sense with the better grip and even better EVF plus these dials provide similar tactile experience with addition of a lens with aperture ring, hence don't need to get Zf but Sony A7R V which has a prism shape VF and flat top design which looks just like a Zf but modern look with bigger grip if one care about aesthetic too? Also what camera and lenses you carry or you just use phone while travel and everyday hangout and situations? I shoot for fun, art, contest and gig if possible tho I haven't done yet, my plan is to get that lens with Zf ith the 28-400mm and a Sony Xperia 1 VI phone (26,24,48,85-170, 2X macro) to be always with me waterproof and macro camera, but is that lens is too big on Zf for everyday and travel usages? Down the line I might get the 14-30 and Voigtländer 50mm F1 if I want to maximize the use of that camera for wider and rare times of bokeh shots but that manual and aesthetic of the lens is tempting! And I love Yellow colour, hope Nikon will make a Yellow colour Zf like they did with the new colour entries on the Zf! 💛

    I used to shoot with a G9. A very pleasant body to hold in hand, very intuitive to use. However, the magic of M4/3 is more over the quality of some lenses, like the 12-40 F:2.8 or the 75 F:1.8 Olympus. They are both really exceptional, even if many self proclaim experts turn their nose up at those lenses and format. The limit of M4/3 is pictures in low light though.

  • @cameracollective9522

    @cameracollective9522

    I agree that lenses do take a huge roll when it comes to image quality on M4/3 cameras, exactly because of the mentioned low light capabilites.

    I filmed with my G9 Mk I in low light - moonlight actually - this week and was really impressed with the results. I think the G9 II is even better. I’m very tempted but would prefer a GX9II form factor.

    I'm getting into more videography. Would this be more suited towards video or photo stills? I'm not talking about it being great for both. I'm asking in terms of just video quality/capabilities compared to let's say a gh6 or s5ii.

  • @cameracollective9522

    @cameracollective9522

    It is definitely a video first camera that shoots great photo as well in my opinion. Absolutely up to gh6, s5ii quality as I experienced. The MFT sensor could be a limit in some situation but in terms of image quality I think it is very hard to tell the diferrence compared to those cameras.

  • @ddsdss256
    @ddsdss2566 ай бұрын

    Thanks--as a long-time G9 user, I plan to get the II soon, now that DxO PhotoLab can process the RAWs and you helped confirm that, although no camera is truly a "game-changer," th G9 II is enough of an incremental improvement over the original G9 to justify getting one (possibly converting my G9 "I" to full-spectrum). It was hoping they'd add a higher-res EVF and a few other things (fingers crossed a G9 III will have better DR and high-ISO performance), but no camera's perfect. The OM-1 is also a great body, but Panasonic's ergo is just so much better, IMO.

  • @Democratiser

    @Democratiser

    5 ай бұрын

    I have a G9 but can see the G9II is a significant step towards FF look and quality (with the right lenses). The colours and exposure / DR are fantastic. I thought I’d be getting a S5II next but I think the G9II might be the better option.

  • @ddsdss256

    @ddsdss256

    5 ай бұрын

    @@Democratiser I've actually been considering getting both the G9 II and S5 II, as they could at least share a battery grip (talk about false economy), but I'm not at all convinced that 1-2 stops of DR and "ISO headroom" (neither of which will be a significant factor most of the time) are worth lugging around bulkier/heavier lenses, much less two systems at once--the raison d'être of MFT is to avoid Sherpa mode.

  • @Democratiser

    @Democratiser

    5 ай бұрын

    @@ddsdss256 I’m totally in agreement. I actually purchased a 50mm LUMIX F1.8 I was that convinced about the S5II / X being the next purchase. And maybe one day I will but right now after a recent holiday where I took 5 MFT lenses weighing a total of 1250g and covering 20-600mm FF equivalent I was reminded that a FF is never a friend when travelling on an aircraft. I could have added another lens or two and still weighed in less than my EF 70-200mm F2.8L IS! I am also hoping for a GX line successor. So maybe that will make a total of 3 new ‘must have’ cameras in due course 🤣! PS - I love the battery grip rationale! The best twisted line of reasoning I have concocted so far is that if I were to get the S5II, then it would make sense to sell the G9 and get the G9II because the G9’s batteries are not forwards compatible with the S5II!

  • @Democratiser

    @Democratiser

    5 ай бұрын

    @@ddsdss256 The point you make about the ISO headroom is also completely valid. If I went for the S5 II I’d probably carry around an F4 zoom most of the time or the roadmapped super zoom (with primes like the 50mm typically left at home along with my collection of adaptable EF lenses). So if most of the time the F4 zoom is the EDC, then in relation to the ISO struggle, I think I’d be better off with MFT as I’m more likely to carry on my person a few MFT prime lenses that are a stop or three faster than the F4. And if the ISO struggle were that serious, I guess I could put an EF prime on a speed-booster. So the more I think about it, I don’t think ISO for me is really a practical disadvantage if I were a G9II owner. But what I didn’t appreciate until a couple of weeks ago was how much the G9II has closed the gap on the ‘full frame’ look. Plus, between Lightroom and DaVinci Resolve and RAW if needed, software can almost annihilate the remaining gap. So maybe it is lenses and software to the rescue and no need for FF! Happy days!
