"Self-Reliance" is an 1841 essay written by American transcendentalist philosopher and essayist Ralph Waldo Emerson. It contains the most thorough statement of one of Emerson's recurrent themes: the need for each individual to avoid conformity and false consistency, and follow his own instincts and ideas. This channel will approach self reliance from a modern perspective. and will focus on various build projects using modern amenities, and tools to build a completely self reliant lifestyle.
Many people ask me where I am from and where I film my projects. I am from Northern Ontario, Canada, and live in an area where off-grinding is easy because I have lots of land to build on and experiment with different buildings and materials. Everything I do is to try to be more self reliant, and to depend less on others. But that doesn't mean I don't like working together with other people on projects. Knowing people who have skills is part of being self reliant, and trading skills is a great way to get more things done!

Hey Kevin, HAPPY NEW YEAR to YOU and YOUR FAMILY. I hope your wife is ok after the accident. I was going to ask you how Don was doing but you gave us an update and I'm happy to hear he's recovering well. Hopefully he can come, not to work, but maybe to boss you around for a change, maybe once a month? I will say, without Don in the videos, there's a missing part in the videos. Don, if you are checking the posts people leave here, I miss Ya in the video's, but please take care of yourself and get better. It really would be nice to be able to see you back again, even if you aren't doing all the work so Kevin take take credit for it, Hahahaha! Health is the most important thing in life. Man I still can't believe you're 72, I think that's what Kevin said a few videos back, you look nowhere near that. Great video Kevin. I'm not much of a car repair person myself, but seeing how simple the bearings were, that's definitely something I could do, I would just need the interest to do so. Maybe with the way the economy and the costs of things is going I might become more interested and learn when I have a vehicle of my own to work on. Having a vehicle in Toronto is definitely something I need. Thanks for a new video. Hope to see a new one again soon. Take care and Keep Safe and Inspiring, Matt - Toronto, Canada

Oof new vehicle prices hurt...... hoping my wife and my cars both survive a few more years. Probably the only good deal on a car now is to get a broken project car. I'd recommend getting a whole parts if there is a lot to fix. Back when I was a wee 18 year old, my dad and I bought two civics. One had a blown engine after the owner let run our of engine oil, and the one had been t boned. Between the two, we pieced together one working vehicle, sold a couple extra parts, kept the other rims for winter tires, kept the front seats to make garage chairs, and then took the rest to the crusher for a couple bucks

Your vids are great, love a little update on how everything's getting on around the place and random little tasks you need to do. When I was young I would always watch my dad or grandad doing stuff in the garage or around the garden! I would 'try to help' but I was most content just watching what they were doing really. And I have to say I'm pretty savvy with DIY compared to some blokes I know honestly. I'm a woman that isn't scared to fix or figure out a problem haha 😂 and very eager to see how you do the underfloor heating, I've researched a bit how to do it myself one day...when I actually own a home to do it in haha

I have done a great amount of bodywork on many autos , including show cars and you should just be able to push the dent out from the back side , sometimes you can just use a rubber mallet and tap around the outside edges of the dent to pop it out or you can use a heat gun to warm up the outside edges and set some dry ice on the top and it sometimes pops out .

I think if the dent wasn't rounded.. think a 10" diameter pipe falling from 8' onto the hood... It would have been easier to pop out if it didn't have a contour. I'll try your method next time.

Ok, so, you might already know these suggestions and as far as the dent, it depends on the metal/material. Using boiling water on fenders, etc. is helping with popping out dents. As far as anything wrong with any car; going to the specific vehicle’s and especially mechanics’ forums helps to find Unusual and common problems. That bushel causing a knock may be common to that car. How to best address it is likely offered on these forums. And there are sites, an I would not be surprised to learn you already know this - there are web sites that tell you what commonly goes wrong with each vehicle.
