A Walk Through the Milwaukee Public Museum

Filmed on Sunday January 12, 2020.
A friend and I visited the Milwaukee Public Museum, and have been there numerous times before, with my earliest memories around when I was in 1st grade. Almost all of the exhibits of the three floors have been covered in this video. You may notice I take most interest in the beautiful full-size and miniature dioramas. The new building complex to house the museum will be projected to open in early 2027, and it is said that exhibit space of the current building will be cut in half for the new complex. The current building suffers bad roof leaks, leaky pipes, a leaky basement and other issues, and it's said it is beyond repair. I always loved the maze-like layout with the winding, dark corridors that makes the wonderful experience of being there. The new building design looks like three waste baskets! WHAT A PILE OF UNSIGHTLY RUBBISH! I do admit some of the exhibits have dated and/or worn out elements. I am all for updating the museum and sprucing up for a new generation but am highly concerned what this new museum will bring.
So enjoy this video of the Milwaukee Public Museum as it is now, all in its pre-COVID-19 Glory!

Always loved the native American exhibits with lake Michigan in the background. Have very fond memories going back 20plus Years now. Thank you for making this.

As a 17 year old who has been going to the MPM since I was little, I applaud your ability to walk right up to the exhibits. I still have to close my eyes when passing the elephant and going through the underwater section in living oceans. Bravo!

Haven't been to the MPM in years, but I really hope to visit again before it moves. This was a really nice walkthrough - thanks!

This was my first museum as a child and I spent many afternoons here, you can imagine my disappointment going to literally any museum since! Even the LA history museum disappointed compared to the interactive wonder that this museum has!

I can’t believe this is all going to gone in the next few years! I wish I were filthy rich with money to burn because I’d fix this place up and keep the memories!

I can't thank you enough for this video. Because of covid the museum has been closed for a bit now, and I really missed going. Seeing your video made my week so much better. I can't wait to be back in the museum in person, but this will truly help me wait until we can go back. I've been going to the MPM ever since I was in first grade, and being able to remember where each exhibit was (and what it smelled like) seems more like a superpower now haha!

I don't know about everyone else. But when I was a kid, that T-Rex exhibit used to scare me to death! I've been wanting to go back to the museum for years. Was one of my favorite places as a kid. I remember all the tours we took there in school. Thanks for uploading.

Well done! Lots of memories from going there at least once a year for the first twenty years of my life or thereabouts, starting in the late 60s. I recall that the beautiful diorama of the Indians hunting buffalo (around 25 minutes into your video) included a “secret” button near one corner that would activate a rattlesnake’s tail! Was hoping to catch a glimpse of the Junkpile in the “Urban Habitat” exhibit but seems that exhibit was removed back in 1988! Ah, well …

Man. I live abroad now and constantly wish I could be here. It never occurred to me that someone might have uploaded a full tour of it like this. Can't thank you enough.

I live in the UK now, and found this video by chance. Reminds me so much of going there on school trips. I'm sad to hear that they're going to be forced to a new building. Something will surely be lost.
