Paphos is a coastal city in southwest Cyprus and the capital of Paphos District.
In classical antiquity, two locations were called Paphos: Old Paphos, today known as Kouklia, and New Paphos (Kato Paphos)
The current city of Paphos lies on the Mediterranean coast, about 50 km (30 mi) west of Limassol (the biggest port on the island), both of which are connected by the A6 highway. Paphos International Airport is the country's second-largest airport around 15KM from the City Center. The city has a subtropical-Mediterranean climate, with the mildest temperatures on the island.
In 1980, Paphos was included on the UNESCO World Heritage List for its ancient architecture, mosaics, and ancient religious importance.It was selected as a European Capital of Culture for 2017.

Hi Michael, thanks for watching, I have a vlog on mandria not sure you have seen it, yes the whole place has changed so much in a lot of ways, yet stays the same in others . 👍😎
Thank you for sharing this! It has completely changed my mind to stay in Paphos instead of Limassol. Booked Alexander the Great with a sea view! ❤

Hi thanks for watching, glad it has helped you in your choice of hotels Alex the Great is a lovely hotel.
We had our honeymoon at the Annabelle in Sept/Oct ‘96. It was a lovely hotel with excellent service and food. I think it’s been extended a bit now though. During our stay there was a magnitude 6.4 earthquake and many aftershocks. Since then we lived in California for 13 years and experienced many earthquakes but nothing as large as the one in Cyprus.

The Annabelle is a lovely hotel, Paphos it's self will have changed a lot since 96 (not always for the better) but it's still a lovely town. 😎👍

Sorry I am not sure if it's all inclusive, but I would recommend not going all inclusive, there are some fantastic local restaurants and tavernas in the area, and it helps support local business.

Is not all inclusive, it has packages for BB for half B, and Full Board, they come with their perks.

The author makes a good point regarding the all inclusive. Use local restaurants and taverns

Any mosquitoes out there in summer
@TravelswiththeRussells

I've never find them that bad, tbh I think it's just to hot and dry in the summer for them, but there could be a few about😎. Unlike places like Corfu with its hot but wet climate were mosquitoes are often a big problem👍.

@@thistless if you walk to the harbour area in the daytime, you may well find a couple of places doing beers at 2€ or even less, evening time most bars charge around 2.50€ to 3.50€ for a pint.

@@thistless yes Indian, five minutes walk from you fantastic place called Namaasta (Google it) great food and not the usual offerings. Chinese Best is Chloe's Chinese you will see it on a walk to the harbour (night time bright lights / trees) highly recomended. Mezes now thats a contentious issue, loads of places will offer a Meze all mostly aimed at tourists so of varied quality. A good one is Georgia Meze House in Kato Paphos (google map it) not on sea front but good. My personal favourite for meze is not in Paphos but in Tala a Place called Melitzia Taverna its worth the trip trust me and amazing views ! if you get a chance do go. For a set menu try Viva Cyprus (not far from you) 3 course set menu good value for money .
