A Visit to Ridgmar Mall

Ойын-сауық

Ridgmar Mall is a dead-ish mall within the Fort Worth area of Texas. It's gone through decline, resurgence, and back again, but seems to have stabilized on a more niche crowd.

I had no idea that this mall was still standing. I thought when we lost Collin Creek Mall that this one was going to be the next one gone. It's really good to see that it's still open! Thank you so much for sharing the good news!

That's a really pretty mall ngl My fav is the little bridge over that huge water feature I wish my mall had that! We have fountains but that lil bridge is so cool! Great vid!!

Another rare mall that we have both visited. Ridgmar fell hard very fast. Once Neiman Marcus announced they were leaving, Macy's pulled out shortly afterwards. That left half of the mall without anchors, creating a void. I preferred this mall over Hulen Mall. Another bonus was the last DelTaco in Texas down the road that lasted about a year after all of the other Texas locations closed again.

this is a really nice mall. i really liked the part where the colums on one side of the hallway here square shaped & the other side were more round along with the glass along the side of the upstairs part gives it a lot of character. plus some really nice fountains. my favorite is the one with the turtles

This is a pretty nice mall. It's too bad there aren't many shoppers. I like all the stars, all the fountains and the turtles. I also like the Greek style pillars.⭐🌟⛲⛲🐢🐢🐢Nice upload.

On one of the big columns, you can see an MM, ie 2000. Nice touch and reference to their big 2000 renovation.

I haven't been to the Ridgmar Mall in ages, I mean ages. Probably since my earliest double-digits. The malls I mainline these days are the Grapevine Mills, Northeast Mall, and the closest being Parks at Arlington. Three very healthy malls. I'm hoping Ridgmar pulls through for the longer run, because if the three malls I mentioned can keep it up so can Ridgmar, if they just tried.

I worked at Ridgmar Mall's JCPenney and Payless ShoeSource in the mid to late 1990's. It's still a clean, bright, beautiful mall. When I want to mall-walk I go here. Yes, the switch from Carswell Air Force Base to a Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base and the rise of internet shopping devastated it. The Military Museum is worth a visit!

This was the mall I grew up with. Crazy to see how much it has declined. If I go to a mall in the Fort Worth area these days, it's usually North East Mall in Hurst. For outdoor shopping centers, I usually go to University Park Village near TCU. The main reason is that they both have White House Black Market, my favorite women's clothing brand. WHBM has been so friendly to me since my transition, I truly enjoy shopping with them. Sometimes I'll go to NorthPark in Dallas, which has my other favorite brand, Aritzia, in their lineup. Southlake Town Square (outdoor mall) has both WHBM and Aritzia next door to each other, but their stores are smaller compared with the WHBM in Fort Worth (and Hurst) and the Aritzia in Dallas, so I don't usually shop with them in Southlake. One of Fort Worth's other indoor malls, Hulen Mall (which I also grew up with) is doing fairly good, but they lack any of my favorite clothing stores. If I were still an American Eagle/Hollister/Forever 21/H&M person Hulen would be great, but I don't shop with those brands any more. Interestingly, Hulen Mall has the only Texas location of Rose & Remington, a women's clothing store mostly regional to the Ohio Valley (OH/IN/KY/WV) region and the state of Tennessee, although they also have one store each in Michigan (near Grand Rapids) and Pennsylvania (in Erie). The Hulen Mall location of Rose & Remington is their only store not in a state in, or adjacent to, their home region.

I go to the theatre inside this mall all the time. They've made at least 2 attempts to revive the mall and all or them have failed, unfortunately I think it's close to dying.

Interesting to see that there aren't vending machines on every corner. But there's still a 'mandatory' candy machine at 9:49.
