A Visit to Boulevard Mall (NY)
Ойын-сауық
Our fourth and, so far, final stop in the greate Buffalo NY Metro. We make a stop at the Boulevard Mall. A mall that has been around since the 60s, and has been given a 90s face-lift.

Great video! This Mall was my favorite when I lived out there. Thanks for buying that DVD and supporting our local stores! Quick aside: This Mall (and also the Galleria) were SO popular with our friends from up north that the rumor locally was that so many Canadians would shop there, buy clothes, and dump their old stuff into the parking lot so it looked like their new clothes were brought with, in order to avoid paying duties. This is the RUMORED reason why Goodwill and Salvation Army put up donation boxes in the Mall's parking lots, to collect those old clothes. I have no idea whether this is true or not, but that shows just how much these places relied on Canadians trying to save a few bucks.

I had an airbrush tee shirt shop at the Boulevard Mall in the 90’s. Once a Canadian shopper asked me about the trash in the parking lot. I told her Canadian shoppers dumped the trash after putting on the clothes they bought, many times multiple layers. Then they would stuff the empty bags under their car and drive off. She didn’t believe me, she insisted Canadians wouldn’t litter. But they did, it was just part of doing business cleaning up after them.

The food court was the best when they removed it I was so mad
Thank-you! I used to shop here often in the 1990's. I even remember all the excitement about the new food court with the carousel. I used to sit at a table there, with a book, and also watch the children spin round and round. Those were the days!
This unlocked so many memories for me. I used to go here when I was a teenager and worked at JCPenney 🥺
Another great video, and this mall looks like three malls in one...not sure if this one will last the course.. quite a few inline vacancies and two lost anchors.. I had to double take when you walked past the ex hollister store .. I was expecting to see the usual dark interior and clothing and then it turns out to be a book store !
Taking out the food court was a major mistake. It was circular with a merry go round in the middle. There was a play area for little kids and some pretty good food.
Not a bad mall. It has an interesting layout and the Macy's wing is cool with the high ceilings. The only knock is those generic skylights. I have seen way to many malls with the same style of skylights.
Glad you filmed this back in the fall of 2019 it was the last time the mall was good I miss the FYE store here the most. Covid really accelerated it's decline which really sucks such a damn shame. I wish we could live in a world where physical retail and digital could both thrive.
I was there in May 2022 and it is SO dead ! JC Penny, Dick's, Claire's and a few Mom and Pop stores are all there is, the rest are gone. I remember back in the day, the busy food court with the carousel. On top of the fountain, at the Christmastime, they had a huge poinsettia tree and carol singers. So sad to see this dead mall. I shopped there every time we came across the border. Enjoyed seeing your video!
Great great great video doomie grunt
I have to say, that fountain in front of Macy's is a particularly beautiful fountain. I also agree that this mall is quite charming in general, kind of reminds me of the Francis Scott Key Mall in Frederick, Maryland.
All affiliations with The Retail Union have been terminated indefinitely.
I was just there yesterday. Now even more stores are gone. I remember coming here as a kid, and this place was always busy. Now, it's just a sad shadow of what it used to be. Only Macy's is good.
oh my 😞

At 11:35, why is there a JC PENNEY sign above the exit to the parking lot?
That Laux sports store is gone unfortunately
70 to 80 percent full not bad with a few mom and pop stores added. To bad Sears couldn't become a Bellk or a Bocoves.
I've only been to this mall once.
That was a 1970's B movie I do beleive that came out on Beta Max and VHS
Nice video, when was this filmed? Looks like before “IT”
