    Wow. Way to persevere! Love the way you kept trying when it was the right thing to do and had the wisdom to not push your luck at a different crossing point. As many challenges as Sunday just threw at you, at least you still HAD your truck to work on. That Argentinian steak was a beef shank. Shanks aren't really known to be tender unless cooked slowly for hours, though they are tasty. So I was waiting for Stacy to say something like wow, super flavor but crazy tough. Glad it was tender and flavorful. Keep chasing your dream. Love your adventures.

    Hace dos año hice el viaje desde Bogotá hasta Ushuaia en auto junto con mi esposa, y también tuve algunos problemas mecánicos y problemas con la aduana argentina por no tener el seguro al momento de entrar, pero fue un viaje muy hermoso, es una pena que no pudieron conocer el salar de Uyuni en Bolivia ya que es de otro planeta, espero que disfruten Argentina, yo recorrí toda la ruta 40 y es hermoso. Mucha suerte.

    Buenas Rutas - You are handling it very well. We have had similar experiences on our motorcycles. Now living in the beach town of Pinamar, about 350 K south of Buenos Aires as permanent foreign residents of Argentina. Hope to meet you if you are riding the coast. Having talked to people who've eaten Argentine beef as well as spending days looking at BC cattle through the ears of a good cow horse, I'm more interested than ever to taste some myself!     What a great episode, guys! I was right there with you with the frustration that can happen on a trip. It can absolutely cascade into an overwhelming array of problems. It’s a difficult and conscious effort to solve those problems. I’m so glad you guys came out on top, and I’m even more glad to follow along for Argentina! FYI, I had the same misfire/same wire problem on my 5VZ a couple years ago on a ski trip. On that note, I’m going to throw some sea foam in today.

    I’ve read before that foreigners have a hard time buying gas in Bolivia and are charged more per liter when available. They must have measures to ration it I guess as they import it.

    This video is why I’m a firm believer in spending the extra money and getting a new or near new vehicle for far travel. I believe old vehicles can and will break and causes alot of headache. (Not saying new vehicles won’t break) I used to drive an older 4 door Tacoma, which is known for reliability. But through my travels, not as far as these guys, just in the states, and even though the engine was reliable, the older truck would break randomly, ball joint, control arm, shock, etc etc. and that caused a lot of down time and headache. Without knowing its maintenance history, when things broke, other parts of the old truck are also old and worn out and will also start to fail and break. After my Tacomas ball joints failed and the whole wheel fell off, going 60mph, I said no more. Bought a brand new truck next week, and it’s been almost 5 years since, and havnt had to do anything besides pump gas into the gas tank.

    Interesting. Because of spark plug wires? Those are a pretty standard maintenance item that we honestly should have had onboard. The slave cylinder was a fluke, but that's going to happen when you put 4 vehicles into one! I don't think we're a good example to base old vehicle vs new of off, based on how custom our truck is. That said, I'd say it's pretty incredible we've come this far with what we've put the truck through in 15 months with minimal repairs so far. At the end of the day, whatever vehicle you have, and know the most about is what is best. We've met people with brand new cars waiting months to get parts delivered. Old Toyotas exist pretty much anywhere on earth!

    @@ToyotaWorldRunners I agree with you about your rig. Not talking about your rig specifically, which is very well built and very reliable for how long you guys have traveled with it without much issues. Another channel where he used an old VW van, he’s always fixing his van, lol. So your rig is actually doing pretty good. I was just speaking about myself personally and just in general. I just felt much safer when going with a brand new truck. And yes obviously you have to pick the right brand new truck, if you buy a brand new Land Rover, even if it’s new, you’re right it’ll be broken down all the time. Keep up the awesome videos! I love watching you guys go where I can’t and do what I can only dream of. Maybe one day, I can travel around the world and meet y’all in Brazil or wherever, haha.

    As a Child in the 80's i was in Paraguay and we had also an old Hilux like you. My Father build an Camperbox on it, was a great time. We traveled also in Argentina and Brasil.

    Matt and Stacey, I hope this advice is helpful. When things go awry, as they tend to do, take a sec to think about how fortunate you are to be doing this amazing trip. You had to know the chances you're taking, and be willing to accept come what may. Now I'm not going to call you whiny, I get how sometimes we have to vent our frustrations, but the reality check is that these setbacks, as irritating as they may be, and in rapid succession, are minor and easily solved. Other travelers have had their rig broken into and all their cameras, gear, and laptops stolen at the Peru/bolivia border. Another needed a heart operation in Colombia. And then there were all the overlanders discombobulated by the response to the pandemic. I mean, you deal with what you're dealt, do your best, and march onward. How we feel about what we have to deal with, and how we convey it, is a choice. The choice we make consciously or subconsciously is a reflection of our level of gratitude. Food for thought. You got some amazing stuff in this collection of takes. And for that I'm grateful. Que Dios les proteja.

    it looked toasty out there note to self ac! Boy that entire boarder crossing fiasco sounded like a absolute nightmare also note too self about the insurance yeeeshhh... But thankyou for sharing about this thats is alot of golden information for everyone to be aware of for traveling there and anywhere for that matter with the car insurance thing, I wouldn't have even thought about that.     @ToyotaWorldRunners yeah I can only imagine.. be really hard to stay focused and still be making your content with all those variables and chaos but at the same time it's almost refreshing to see a little bit of that because it makes it all seem less like a fairly tail and brings us all back to reality of how hard that it to do. But when that happens it almost makes it feel more realistic that anyone one of us can do it. It's going to be hard and it is hard for everyone and that's just part of the game and thats why we always have to keep pushing ourselves to do those hard things not because they are easy but because they are hard, like any video game if it was easy you wouldn't get the same amount of satisfaction. 🙂 Ps still hoping for less troubles for you guys Regardless 😉

    5vzfe and 2jz are the two i have issues with misfire like that before. So I always use Spiral winding cable wrap(you can always buy them at home depot or lowes in the electrical wire section) now on all the spark plug wires. It usually sparks that misfire on the valve cover or Intake plenum manifold on the underside where you don't normally see.. I did a observation and found out about it too on my 5vz and 2jz.

    Ay Corumba'! What a tale to tell on the border. At first I though it was another South American shakedown, but I guess since money wasn't mentioned, Bolivia really didn't like Sunday. What was it they were concerned about anyway? Tasting every wine, including the wine ice cream, was imperative on this visit. Who know when you will pass this way again? I thought that it may be as you get farther away from North America, the officials are as used to seeing tourist from so far away. Either way, another great video and even though trouble had to happen sooner or later, it is still a bummer. Hopefully you got though all the bad parts and can finish out the continent on an upswing. Happy Birthday, Stacy. You deserve all of the happiness this world has to offer. When one door is closed, another one opens.

    Thank you so much for commenting Phil! Thank you for the birthday wishes and the well thought out words. The Bolivian border was the first to check that our vin and chassis matched. Unfortunately they don’t, and to get them matched on paper was too lengthy of a process before we left BC. We are grateful beyond belief for what we’ve seen so far, so this was a minor hiccup. We can’t believe this truck is in Argentina. Amazing! Cheers 🙏🏼

    HA! wow I had a misfire that was killing me on my 5vz-fe and it was the spark plug wires too. I luckily saved the injectors for the last resort and didnt touch them but i was stuck in a hotel until i fixed it ✌

    Why aren't there millions of views like the "non important viral dumb ass useless vids" that time tok and KZread has? This is my all time fave couple and show. Ammazzzing professional level vids you don't want to miss a minute of. I wish I knew a lot of people to recommend this to. The channel is so. Much better than any I've seen yet.     I'm sorry to hear about all the negative things happening. Unfortunately, issues with vehicles, regardless of year and make, are bound to happen and test your mental status. If I can, I would like to mention that not talking about what happened at the Bolivia border as well as why a overlander who had his vehicle seized will only be mentioned if you join our patreon is not helpful for someone like me who is doing the Pan American and has a budget like you and can't join a patron pages. Howeve, it was good that you informed us about insurance at the Argentina border. Happy trails guys, be safe and try to stay positive.

    Maybe the Universe wanted you to wait for some reason. That has happened to me. You never know what bad thing might have happened if you had not waited. Landslide, breakdown in the middle of nowhere, animals, bandits - who knows! We do have angels and they do watch over us. That's why I do a prayer of protection first thing every day!

    Hahah we’re not sure! He just hung out with us all night and then when we woke up he was still chillen. We assume he belonged to a nearby home. He was very well fed

    I watched the entire video and I don't understand what the real reason you got denied? You mention at 2:28 "Wrong papers" Are you able to elaborate? Do you need a special vehicle permit to enter Bolivia? Your truck documents weren't in order? I'm a bit confused since all the other countries you were able to enter with no issues (other than Argentina) I have a modified Land Cruiser and I wonder if it's something I should be concerned about. Thanks
