This is a nice alcohol stove kit. Perfect for hot pot. Quite affordable for a 5 hour run with Walmart 91% rubbing alcohol at about $2.50/ 16 oz. Thanks for sharing this. Happy Sunday.

The only improvement that I can think of would be a simmer mode. How much heat differential between single and double burner modes? One advantage of alcohol is the low light that it gives out while burning.

Agree 100 percent about needing a SIMMER mode. That flame gets pretty TALL just using one burner. Could see that as a real problem in a Van's KITCHEN or RV KITCHEN where most inside areas HAVE CURTAINS NEARBY. I'd definitely want to regular that tall flame!

In my opinion I like alcohol for backpacking. I have several wood burners for grid down. Which is something I’m very experienced with. I was in Florida during many hurricanes. We had grid down more then 2 weeks. Anyway my experience is I prefer to cook outside. I have a 2 burner propane $30 takes any size bottle. I think having a battery is something extra I don’t need. A alcohol stove can be made with change.

You can have a manually pumped atomizer? XD Check out foguista(KZreadr), he made a super simple remote alcohol stove that essentially vaporizes alcohol and burns like a jet engine.

I honestly wish I could justify the purchase of this stove, because it is nice and 5-hours is a good burn time. I do have a few small alcohol based burners but they are only really good for a quick boil, so I settled on propane/butane for actual in-house cooking during outages. Going to keep this in mind if funds allow in the future. Heck, a quart of denatured alcohol would last a long time and is relatively cheap.

  • @pedroclaro7822

I made a small can stove with only a random soda can cut under half height, and a fiberglass wick inside (I used old and used wood stove insulation rope). Works flawlessly for a slow boil, the wick slows down evaporation. If I want a fast boil I use my DIY penny can stove. I have to restock it every 20 minutes, but you can easily do a version of this with the rope inside a tube and separate the burning end from the reservoir, and burn alcohol straight from gallon jugs.

Great review Iridium, I'm usually critical if the gear is very pricey. This is. Grid down could be ify. But I love the design. Maybe there are others out there, but For indoor use having a stable large based alcohol stove is a great safety feature. Seems very efficient as well. A hard case for car camping would be a nice accessory, but also would drive up the cost. Also seemed like the flame was more visible than a normal alcohol stove which is nice.

Propane camp stoves work on a 1lb bottle. You could hook a 20lb tank to it but it would be overkill. Nice alcohol stove though.
