I have the last two Calvin & Hobbes strips that appeared on Saturday and Sunday in my local paper. Hung on to them for years and now they are framed on my wall above my desk where I sit this very moment. It was awesome being a kid and getting to see brand new strips the world had never seen drop every day. I started my own comic strip and wanted to do newspaper comics but then I read Bill's story of the fight he had with the syndicate and that convinced me NOT to do newspaper comics. So I became an illustrator, got into graphic design, and am doing what I love today because of Bill Watterson's inspiration. My four daughters all read the Calvin & Hobbes books from when I was a kid and they love them.

Integrity is predicate (like all such issues are) on people knowing about it. I'm afraid that C & H will just disappear, out of sight, out of mind. Watterson can't really control it after he's dead, and maybe there'll be a "Betty Boop" like resurgence, but who knows?

Put up found signs - no bites, lucky me. :-) Hobbes was well-loved on my block, the neighbors always referred to him as "Mister" Hobbes - he was a gem of a cat. One thing I love about Calvin is that despite being well…a brat. Come on now, but he is a kid what can you do. He is extremely creative, and does have moments of deeper understanding. There is no doubt his parents love him, but if they were able to help nurture this creative side then No doubt he would succeed

“YUKON HO!” I haven’t even read the paper comics in years... and not just because I don’t read the papers anymore! The comics were the last thing I stopped reading and that was before everything went electronic. So as not to ramble, I will only say that “the funnies” just got trendy, trite and shallow... in a word, “UNORIGINAL”... and not so funny. Quite simply, they just became too much like the rest of the paper... even the old classic cartoons that were taken over by the heirs. I don’t blame Bill W. at all for getting out when he did- it is the art of a child’s heart and if it starts to make you feel old, well... “YUKON HO!” I can also say, though, that I stopped reading the papers the same way I started... “Just the comics,Please!” Thanks again,Bill- and tell Calvin and Hobbes that I’ll see them up North! ••••••🐯•••••• “Yukon Ho!” My Tiger Friend has got the sled, And I have packed a snack. We're all set for the trip ahead. We're never coming back! We're abandoning this life we've led! So long, Mom and Pop! We're sick of doing what you've said, And now it's going to stop! We're going where it snows all year, Where life can have real meaning. A place where we won't have to hear, "Your room could stand some cleaning." The Yukon is the place for us! That's where we want to live. Up there we'll get to yell and cuss, And act real primitive. We'll never have to go to school, Forced into submission, By a monstrous, crabby ol’ teacher who'll make us learn addition... We'll never have to clean a plate, Of veggie glops and goos- Messily we'll masticate Using any fork we choose! The Timber Wolves will be Our Friends. We'll stay up Late and Howl... At the Moon, ‘Til Nighttime Ends, While going on The Prowl ! Oh, what a life! We cannot wait, To be in that Arctic Land, Where we'll be Masters of our Fate, And Lead a Life that's Grand! No more of those parental rules- We're heading for some snow! Good riddance to those grown-up ghouls! We're leaving! “Yukon Ho!” -Bill Watterson 1989 “Who wouldn't want the opportunity to yell and scream for no reason other than that you can? It's just part of being a kid, desiring all these things. ‘Yukon Ho!’ is a special little encasement of childhood sentiment and it comes across as genuine, rather than as a bunch of idealized cliches. If I were to meet my 7 year old self, I hope I'd be able to play along with him in his imaginative games. I want to be an adult that my littler self can be proud of and I think poems like this help to keep me on track.” -Chris Hart

Sorry .ust slip into a little bit serious thought. No political correctness to be found here because it stifles i ingenuity. Bill gave thst to Calvin and spoke his genious though him. More often though it was for laughs and little else. Others have also found that must abandon pc to get anything done. One of those is Donald Trump. He was hated by many for some of the things he saif bit they dhow their stupidity when they try to take down what Trump did.

Anti-Trump, anti-Calvin, anti-freedom and pro-political correctness gives us a Jackass president who gives us a demoralized police force and military as well as crazy inflation and a shortage of product on the shelves. Oh well, at least that coven of Democrats are out from under their beds or rocks and these monsters now are proudly showing their hatchlings. They don't even see how hidious their hatched ideas really are in the eyes or sane people.

I was so inspired by “Yukon Ho!”, that I set out to emulate the strip! I even started using my “Land Before Time”, “Little Foot” stuffed toy as a proxy for “Hobbes”, filled a suitcase full of comics and snacks, and left the house (with the intention of pretending that my aunt’s basement would be my “Yukon”, which was just a large block away), only to get less than two houses down before a local deputy pulled over to ask if I was running away from home!😆 Giving that awkward explanation really spoiled my fun!
