I remember when this came out a whole lot of us were puzzled by the fact the The Cure had actually put out an upbeat, happy song.

The Cure is actually an 80s band (actually formed in 1978) and kept going into the 90s and beyond. Check out more of their early stuff.

Love love love the Cure, and Robert Smith. "Close to Me", "Facsination Street", "Lullaby", "A Letter to Elise", "Boys Don't Cry"... the list just goes on and on. One of the best alternative bands of ALL TIME, hands down.

A band from the 80s, although they were still around in the 90s. So many better Cure songs, but this is definitely a good choice for Valentine’s Day.

My kid (9) recently decided that he wants to buy Wish (the album this is from) which will be the his first album he's bought with his own money because he loves this song. I think I'm raising him well.

This song was originally written by Robert Smith for Cher, but she declined it, so he kept it for his band instead.

The Cure is mostly from the 80s. Robert Smith is the coolest rock star ever. The Cure also has a dark goth side.

Jay & Amber, “Pictures of You” (the full album version) from 1989’s masterpiece The Cure album "Disintegration" is a MUST LISTEN! "Pictures of You" is gorgeous, melancholy and magnificent! Enjoy!

The Cure was more than a band for many of us early 90s goth kids. Rock music had gone so dark in the early 90s....and The Cure was a band that spoke to us kids and told us that yes there are many dark things in this world....but there is also hope. Which is what this song is about. Every day of the week can be absolutely horrible in its aloneness....but there's always hope for that 1 time....that Friday....where you have love. The Cure literally saved the lives of many kids who felt hopelessness amid a world of people who didnt understand and who just wanted to rage. Goth kids just wanted to understand what they were feeling without being so depressed about it. The Cure told us that love was not only possible....but was real and within reach if we dont give up.

The Cure has been around since 1978, they were a huge hit with the alternative crowd in the 80's i loved their music as a kid. There style influenced many kids at the time, glad they're still making music to this day and glad you both enjoyed them.

The happiest, saddest, brightest, heartbreaking, loveliest, melancholic, lonely, comforting thing in the world: The Cure. I wish I could give Robert Smith a big hug and whisper "thank you" in his ear...

Yes, The Cure was unique! The Cure started in the late 70's and became famous in the 80's. They are a product of the punk/new wave/alternative rock movement in Great Britain at that time. This band was part of the 2nd British invasion of the 80's. If I'm not mistaken, this song came out in the early 90's. Great memories !!! 🥰

I've never understood how this bouncy, blissed-out song could contain such pain and sorrow, but it's there, and I feel it every single time.

I agree with the others who've recommended "Pictures of You." Powerful lyrics with plenty of room for personal interpretation.
