I wonder if what happened here was that the Zerg really thought that Terran was finished and so they didn't really focus on eco-ing up after that initial successful attack - instead kept thinking they could just finish them off with another push until they realized it was too late. Terran recovered back up to 60 scvs really quick while the zerg stayed on 45. Happens to me a lot - I often underestimate how hard it can be to finish off a Terran.

Hydralisk: a Zerg unit with a powerful active ability called “morph into lurkers”. Doesn’t seem to be good at anything else tho

Hydras are still really good backline support units, DPS pumping machines. But you really only ever want about 8-14 of them at any given time. They just arent meant to be the main army of a zerg in sc2 the way they were in brood war.

@@patximartel yes, hydras do well, but if terran goes air, corruptors do what hydras do but better, and if theres no tanks or low tank count then well, roach/ravager/infester do what hydras do in that situation but better

@@patximartel for 400/200, you can get either 4 hydras, or 4 roaches and one ravager. In almost every situation against Terran ground mech, the 4 roaches one ravager are better, not to mention less investment needed in terms of upgrades.

Honestly think archons should have been in the expensive unit list moredo than voidrays. Their total resources add up the same, but archons cost gas rather than minerals and gas. And gas is so valuable

To think that instead of taking out starport tech labs, Zerg could destroy fusion lab that was researching yamato at the time with his roach ling attack... With no money and no SCVs, terran would be stuck with 2 BCs with no yamato guns for a long time.

Queens can dodge Yamato by jumping into a overlord, nydus, or by burrowing. I don’t know about the other methods but burrowing actually puts it on CD which is amazing. I think it’s totally worth the gas and hatchery time if your opponent gets Yamato. You can also pre burrow your drones. They either waste scans meaning less mules or they can’t kill anything.

Archons also are up there, using 4 supply and either 250/250, 175/275 or 100/300 - costing much more total ressorces and gas than both an Immortal or a Void Ray.

any ability that can oneshot a zergling is imba and needs a nerf. if a zergling doesn't win against a BC it is unfair.

he was hoping the anti air would be enough already and the lings were to counter the thors... but in the end this is a story of someone who thought his opponent was dead due to a lack of scouting not realising that the one who was dead was himself.

@@hamster_designs some tribe cultures (including ours) have rituals of belittling their peers to make sure they never develop pride and the process of adding "salt" is viewed as wholesome bonding by the community. ;d Next time the boy would be by our side and would say to himself - ha, this next guy really sucks! Look at him F2ing all his unites into those lurkers! I would have never done that! Yet he will. And thats the magic of it.

16 lings vs BC was just an F2 abuse. Good advise for starting players would be just to disable F2 in the menu.

Another reason why Infestors would be good is because of Fungal Growth, which would aid in catching the BCs before they can jump. But I guess spelll casters just don't exist outside of mid masters.

Dont know If It is a serious question but... You cant argue that terran is imba because It washed the ground with you when you are playing terran and could do exactly the same thing. The absolute problem is when you find yourself in a mirror match of any kind, you clean all variables and what you have left is your failure with no Space for complain

I don't think he thinks they're broken, but due to zerg lack of reliable anti-air in the early game they're too relied upon. They're zerg's macro mechanic. If Zerg's macro mechanic was hatchery based it would be very broken. Injects would essentially be 2 key presses for all hatcheries (select all-hatchery control group > select inject) vs 4 per 1 hatchery (camera > select queen > select inject larva > select hatchery to inject). Zerg macro mechanic needs to be mobile for creep maintenance, so they have sufficient warning to react to an incoming attack (react race). If you remove the queen something would need to be provided that can fill its role sufficiently as a hatchery tech anti-air.

I love my 4;47 BC rush. It's not invincible but damn is it fun xD

Well, hydralisks alone are not even cost effective vs BCs, so making hydras against BCs without any kind of support like infestor/viper is quite bad.

There is one simple thing the most lower league players tend to forget: Starcraft is about destroying structures and then units if it's winnable.

If you have a 20 minute game, and you don't get to hive, you may be doing it wrong. A good rule of thumb is to get spellcasters at every level: queens, infestors, and vipers. I often skip infestors, but you need some aoe vs swarmy boyz like mass lings, marines, or zealots.

This is why Winter has the 3 strike way of judging replays

Queens are the only unit that shoots up before lair, which is when BC hits. I understand serral can defend this without any loss. But at lower leagues, like low masters which I’m in. I always lose several queens, a dozen drones, a dead spore with the BC just jump back then repaired.

The 2 base roach wall off is a build made by vibe for his bronze to GM. The idea is that you block the hellions especially at lower leagues where you can’t handle them as well. It’s sort of his catch all build for metal league zergs looking to get better. It’s not at all meant to stop a reaper. So this is a little dishonest. Now I want to be clear he isn’t executing the roach wall off build perfectly. Pretty sure you only get 1 gas in the main lol and you only take two more gases once your nat is basically droned and your ready to build your safety roaches plus start your +1 and roach speed (lair taken with first 100 gas). This build provides a sharp roach timing of like 14ish roaches that kills alot of zergs but many other lower leagues players.

The Ronaldo analogy had me dying man 🤣 it's soooo f***ing accurate. The last time I played SC, SC2 was only a rumour, I'm now 30. EVEN back then, I'd not have even ONCE considered throwing ling's at BCs 🤣 The only reason that would've been useful is if he's sent the ling's in AHEAD of the hydras, to "soak* the fire while the hydras drop the BCs...the problem with that strategy is ling's die just as quickly as hydras here so...yeah, silly move 🤣 definitely pooped himself and slipped 🤣

the fact that this man is in diamond is a testament to the imbaness of zerg, not terran. roach pushes are strong, specially in NA diamond ladder, where no one knows how to scout

to be fair the almost instant teleport on battlecruisers is lorewise extremely stupid.... protoss lived thousands of years to develop their warp technology which takes a few seconds to work and terran just invent the half second teleport wherever they want *facepalm*

Ok even when I was playing SC2 back in the day, I wouldn't use queens as tools of attacking the enemy with, I would keep them at home popping larva on my hatcheries and perhaps this was just me, but I would always try to keep my queen count equal to the amount of hatcheries (and this included micro hatcheries) so there would be one queen per hatchery.

Personal opinion: The Zerg WAS actually the better player, but a bunch of serious misplays, which were clearly the result of nervousness and panic lost him the game. Seriously, that part at 15:52 was most telling: He was on the verge of winning VERY hard, but then suddenly sent his entire ground army back to fend off a single reaper... Clearly a misclick that was the product of panic / nervousness.

Later this game I think his best bet would be to make some cheap roaches. Queens just keep bcs busy while roach destroy everything else.

If you attack planetary with roaches then swarm with lings it dies very fast without shooting down many units. The spore placement was awful he could move his spores and use those with Queens to defend the bcs

This is my favourite type of IODIS! =) Lings against Battlecruisers! =) I mean I am humble. I know I am too slow and to lazy to be good at the game. But the Lings against Battlecruisers is just funny! =) Thank you! =)

23:10 Wasn't there something about the calculations being off or something, for fights happening off screen ? I'm sure I saw a video at some point with some examples of the same fights having different outcomes whether you had your focus on it or not.

@@FogToo i think it does apply to multiplayer (i believe its omission frames, which is literally just frames ommited in order to render stuff offscreen in a less resource intensive manner) but the margins for it are tiny, only resulting in a couple of SCVs dieing when the position in under assualt by the largest offensive force in SC2, not 9 hydras shooting a factory.
