Elton is a true talent there's so much of his music you can explore. This is a beautiful version of the song the studio version actually has a lot of nice instruments in it if you're ever interested in checking that out. Loving your reactions by the way

This shows his talent. The original studio recording has extensive orchestration and background singers. Really beautiful.

Elton writes the music for his songs and his lyricist is Bernie Taupin (taw-pin). This is about Bernie's wife at the time called Maxine. There is incredible diversity in Elton's catalogue. There are many piano ballads, but a load of other good stuff as well. E.g. "Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting" which is a ballsy rocker! It was inspired by Bernie's raucous teenage days and, in particular, the fistfights in his local pub lol! 😜 Elton would get the lyrics through the post and set them to suitable music.

So many legendary songs from this genius. My favorite is Empty Garden.....his tribute to John Lennon after he was murdered.

Great review/reaction. This music is the playlist of my life, as I was almost a teenager when this came out. To me, Elton John (and Bernie Taupin) are top 5 songwriters and Elton is probably one of the best musicians and harmony/melody writers and performers of all time. His first 9-10 albums (From Empty Sky to Captain Fantastic) are all brilliant, and most of the deep cuts on each sound better to me than most hits in the last 20 years. I feel lucky to have lived through the 60's, 70's and 80's listening to the best music of all time.

Tiny Dancer one of Elton's earlg songs, ..I just love the Chorous ..There's such an varied selection of his music..my favourite is his duet that he did with kiki Dee, 'Don't go breaking my heart'..The late Princess Diana was very fond of his music Elton did his piano tribute of Candle in the Wind live at her Funeral... I agree with you Elton Jhon from that time when 'Pure Quality Music' with real instruments was produced.. Don't forget to react to 'Ambrosia, Biggest Part of me' and Player, 'Baby Come Back'..You're sure to enjoy

Checkout Funeral For A Friend! The live version, at Madison Square Garden! Starts slow and builds and builds... Showing his range of styles, changes in tempo, one of his best! In my not so humble opinion... 😂

This beautiful song is used in the movie Almost Famous, which you should check out. It's great and is based on the true experiences of rock journalist Cameron Crowe, who made the film.

Funeral for a Friend (from his double LP Good-bye Yellow Brick Road) is an instrumental that leads directly to and inextricably linked to Love Lies Bleeding (banger!) so if you choose to react to that one, I recommend you use the studio album audio and do both songs 😁

Live is ok and Elton is great live BUT... The studio recordings are unmatched compared to a live performance. Please hear the lyric video. You still have not heard this song as originally presented to the people en mass.😮😊

I have a question Has your journey into the past reinforced your opinion about what's about for the ears of the younger generation. If the answer is yes, then it's down to you and those like you to educate those less savey. No pressure 🤪
