I gotta disagree on him being the most herlic. He certainly has heroic moments. Like when he acts, despite being terrified, and helps them all come out on top. But he also has history of running away instead of fighting. He is a coward and Usopp knows this. He is sometimes very heroic though. Much more so as the series progresses. It's part of his character to progress from a weak coward, to being a brave warrior of the sea like his father. And I'd say this is coming to be true slowly but surely.

This was a great analysis. You could've also mentioned the contrast of bravery back in Syrup village with Usopp and Kuro. Kuro was someone who decided to settle for less so he can avoid the troubles of a pirate's life. For he was a coward. Usopp stood upto his opposition and challenged it even though he believed there was no hope. For he was brave.

What people fail to understand is that Usopp is a sniper and snipers are weak in a close distance, which is most battles taking place in one piece, if Usopp had distance in his battles, he could be a good fighter, we saw what he can do in the Enies Lobby arc with distance, even if they were just some generic marines. people just choose to believe that the only way a character is useful is if they are strong in close combat. Lots of people also ignore the support characters do, like how Usopp made Nami's Clima Tact and let's be honest, if Nami didn't have that, I don't think she would stand a chance against Califa.

Of all the characters' dreams in the entire series, Usopp is the closest to actually achieving it, he even might have. That's my favorite part about him, he IS living out his dream, which is a journey and not a destination. Even in his earliest ventures, I'd still say of all of them, just having the courage to fight his weakness already makes him a great warrior. He hasn't quite fully realized it yet, but he's certainly close.

SiMe no because you never get rid of your fear. You’re just constantly overcoming it. There are people that are not afraid of anything. SiMe let’s say there are two people. Person A is deathly afraid of spiders and person b loves spiders. If you have person a and person b enter a box filled with spiders and they both, for whatever reason, do it. it took zero courage for person b to enter the box but it took 100 % for person a to do it. Person a in this situation is courageous. This is usopp at all times. And also, just because person a actually entered the box, it doesn’t mean they are no longer afraid of spiders.

I would like to comment that Usopp only ran away from Sugar because he had forgotten all about Robin (literally) and he had no idea what happened to Franky. Usopp was the character who was willing to fight and protect his friends even at the cost of his own life, as we saw when he helped fight Kizaru to save Zoro (you even showed the clip). Dressrosa is an arc where Usopp couldn't allow others to bear the weight of his lies because he realized it was cruel so he forced himself to bear that weight in order to give himself courage. Otherwise, perfect video.

It's hard to pick a favorite straw hat, but Usopp always had a soft spot in my heart ever since the Arlong Park arc, and that spot has been sealed since Little Garden and his promise to become a brave warrior of the sea and visit Elbaf. I can relate to him in a way since I am not the strongest nor the bravest person around, when compared to everyone around me. This video was great and really explains Usopp as a character, and his growth as a character throughout the series well. Other channels tend to hype up and focus more on the more prominent and stronger members of the crew, leaving characters like Usopp and Chopper behind. Yes. Usopp will always be one of the weakest, if not be the weakest, member of the crew, and that's all right. I really believe that Usopp's character can be fully realized once we reach Elbaf, and I finally get Usopp's character growth that I have been excited for since Little Garden. I kinda went on a tangent there- my bad lol. At the end of the day I really rely to his struggles and his character. After all, he is just human in a world where giants and other super humans exist.

Great video. I love Usopp's character because this type of character being as long-lasting and as permanent in a coming of age shonen manga is semi-rare. Although Oda is in general the absolute master of character development: not only are they relatable, he somehow manages to make them an embodiment of a certain idea or an ideology. And it's not like the Straw Hats are what all the "good ideas" are used on, making the villains/allies weaker. No, he just does it all. What a madlad.

hey, im a huge fan of usopp. probably the biggest ive ever known. usopp means the world to me, and i love analyzing his character and his acts no matter how goofy he will get. hes probably my favorite fictional character of all time. also, on the whole "do what you can" lesson, usopp preached the same thing to chopper shortly after chopper joined the crew. it was something that chopper kept in mind throughout alabasta, especially throughout the mr. 4 and mrs. merry christmas fight. those words resonated within chopper, just like im sure sanji's words resonated through usopp. its funny how usopp had to be told something he knew well in order to succeed. never following his own advice. i relate to that heavily, too. thank you for this video, man! its wonderful to see people actually putting across who usopp actually is. i cannot express to you how much it frustrates me when fans write him off as annoying and useless, because he isnt.

I admit I didn't like Usopp when I was first introduced to him. However, after the Alabasta Climax, he quickly rose to be one of my favorite characters. You pretty much just summed up why Usopp is my favorite strawhat. I love that he's intentionally written to be the weakest strawhat; it makes his victories feel a lot more earned in my mind because with him there is a sincere chance of failure, more so than any other character. I relate to him because I know what it's like to feel like the weak link in your crew, simply because you don't understand where your true strength lies. Usopp isn't one of the monster trio. He isn't a powerhouse who can solve his problems by punching through everyone he meets . . . and he shouldn't be that. he's the guy for outside-the-box solutions and picking people off from afar.

Yet unlike even Nami he is always limited by his items and wit having nothing else but when it came time for Dressrosa, who was seen as the largest threat by a seriously crafty and cool headed foe like Dofy... it was not Luffy or Law that had the highest bounty was it? I never noticed that parallel between Spandam and Usopp but it makes a tremendous amount of sense

Great video, I never considered Spandam as a foil for Usopp, so that was a nice touch. Also, your braver then I am, because your actually able to upload a serious video on April fools.

Usopp is my favourite character. But I would've mentioned it was also relevant in Syrup Village that he felt partially responsible. Having said that everything else was spot on!

Gold as your tongue may be. you cannot convince me that ussop challenging luffy to own the ship which was already going to be abandoned was not pointless. he really could have just skipped the fight and took the ship. all he really did in the end,was get beat up over in inanimate object. putting said object over the lives of his crew. he was a fool who was in the wrong, he even knew this and still did it anyway... - that aside, really well thought out video, fantastic job!

Another scene in Enies Lobby that fits the theme are also Nami using her thieving abilities to steal a key from Kumadori even when she was outmatched or argueably Usopp swaying the giants to his side.
