I like his enthusiasm and it's refreshing to see a guy who's not married to brands or heritage. He's just buying because he likes the watch. There's nothing wrong with that. He's not a watch snob.

@Theo The ONLY thing that makes an expensive watch worth the buy is if you enjoy owning it. If you value brand and heritage and that enhances your enjoyment of ownership that is great. If someone else couldn't care less about brand and heritage and just likes the biggest boldest most complicated watch they can find because that enhances their enjoyment, also fine. Different strokes.

He has no idea what he's talking about, but that's part of the fun of watching this! Not all watch enthusiasts are "horologists" or any of that crap. Sometimes it's just "this looks cool and I want it!" He's SO RIGHT about watch stores SUCKING at what they do (selling watches) - there's no way to compete with the internet about that. Anyway, great stuff Teddy! Man you are killing it and I can't wait to see the MVMT video!

I disagree about in store vs. online. Watch Journalists, youtubers and ads all present watches as looking good online and when you place the order and they come I've noticed often times is falls below expectattions. I am new to watch collecting and I'm constantly being cat-fished with watches and have to return them. I MUCH prefer to first see the watch in person, get a feel for them with my own eyes and senses. The advantages of online shopping is finding watches that are limited or rare.

Not a fan of Hublot or his channel but this might be the smartest man ever on this show. His rule about understanding the difference between earned income and passive income (also known as capital gains) is so staggeringly correct I had to rewind. It takes 30 years of making money, REAL money, the kind of money you can never lose because the money is your employee out hustling every day to understand what he's talking about. Your cash from having a job is painfully earned because you gave up your time for that money and you'll never get back...that's time you could have had with your family ..time gone forever. Now passive income cost you no time. It's a commodity like coca cola or bar of soap.

You can buy it with just your cash and not your precious time.
i started follow u now because u do more of these watch vlogs, great
Gotta let the dude talk Teddy.
I think he is a watch enthusiast that loves his watches for what they are and not for what they are worth. Who cares about what they cost. It is all about feelings. The same thing applies in sales. If your client likes the property, money is not as much important. Gotta love the whole section about passive income to buy luxury items!!
Great interviews Teddy, just need to not talk over your guests. Just some feedback on the lack of conversation flow.

Nice collection, but his theory that you should only buy watches out of passive income is ridiculous. 99% of us will never have a dime of passive income.
@bryanryan4504

Well, 99% of us will never buy a Patek is perhaps good for society? If everyone disregarded their earned income to buy unnecessary luxury items society would collapse. If you believe you should buy luxury watches w your monthly budget then be my guest 😉
Man, you're in my neck of the woods I live in the Florida Keys. I would definitely take the solid gold Patek Philippe! No question.
interesting perspective from someone who made it and great financial advice
Ted was looking at the hublot kinda funny lol
It's nice to have different points of view and people. Even if their not enjoyable.
“i’m extremely conservative with money” as he wears a $90,000 watch hahah
The point about buying luxury out of investment is a really important one
Pretty sure a finance guy, well paid tech worker, doctor, lawyer, etc. making multiple hundreds of thousands of dollars a year can buy a fancy watch at one point and be fine. And buying watches from passive income is still money you’re diverting from an income stream, just a different one.
His exact first watch was, not my first watch but my first "real" watch too, i bought it myself for my 30th birthday 2 years ago after digging through debt, weight loss and lots of other problems for 5-6 years. I love this watch so much, it gives me goose bumps even when i see it in the videos. Everytime i have it on my wrist i think about what i had to do do be able to spend so much money on a watch and what i am capable of and that i am never gonna give up. I would never ever sell that watch. I hope i can explain the sentimental value to a maybe future son and make him waer it and never sell. It would break my heart and i'd rather take it into the grave.

Unfort. My father died when i was 14 but i remeber him wearing a fake omega, he loved the brand but he just couldnt afford to buy one and spent the little money on toys for me and my brother. Great interview and stories. lol.. he also found a missing $20k stashed with that misplaced Panerai chrono.. and that bonus find didn't seem to be a big deal, but the watch was. Curious what else could be misplaced?! Most of the watches are not my style, but can appreciate and think still cool and impressive collection. Ha.. i would take any 1 watch, but the Patek Nautilus probably would be my pick. So< Teddy, did you get a free watch from one of the watch boxes?!
The big Pan. The Pateks are obviously Rolls Royce’s but that big Pan is specialé.
Me and Grant here are clearly completely different in just about every way, but you can't deny that the advice he's giving about when you can actually afford to buy something like that is very sound. As for the watches in that box, I'd take either the Pierre Kunz or the AP.
His advice on pasive income is similar to the advice I always give people about buying cars. Save until you have the money to pay cash for the car you want, then keep it all invested and finance the car. And unless you're a car enthusiast, buy the most reliable affordable car you can. Then you are making passive income instead of sinking all your $ into a depreciating asset. Treat growing the money you earn and save like a second job and pretty quickly you'll realize how enjoyable it is to be able to buy yourself something nice once or twice a year without it impacting your long term financial goals.
I'll take the AP. Thank you very much Grant!
What a great video - Teddy, you're knocking it out of the park!!
His enthusiasm is fun. Dude is not an expert and that’s fine.
