A Tribute to Jane K. The "Iron Lady of Fishing".

Jane is the mother of one of my lifelong friends and fishing buddies. She was amazing when it came to supporting us kids and our passion for fishing.

I second that. She was great to us kids. The three of us fish as much as we can to this day in part because of her. The viewers will meet those two buddies eventually. My buddy Daniel has her Boston Whaler so eventually you'll see me fishing in it.

Mentors like Jane do change lives! If you’re lucky you too will have such a a good influence. I was lucky to have a couple along with fantastic parents!

I had her and two uncles who were mostly bad influences except for when they took me fishing and camping which was often. That's why I'm so good at fishing rivers. My uncle would be crashed out in the car and tell me just go fishing, I'll be up in a while. I'd go fish a raging river alone when I was probably only 10 or 11 years old! I keep my channel family friendly so kids can watch and families can watch together as they prep and get excited to go on trips to the mountains.

I loved that story for one reason my mom's name was Jane so it kinda hit a soft spot. My mom passed when I was 16 so that brought a smile to my face thanks brother 🤘

He probably knows about stuff like the Bellows farm ponds for bass and the dammed up creek at the end of town on Higgins Canyon road where we would get holdover steelhead when they wouldn't release water during some bad drought years. Hard fighting 16" fish. I wasn't a local but I used to fish out there all of the time. I used to head out to the far jetty alone to fish in high school back in the late 80's when you had to walk all of the way out there from Princeton Harbor. Just me, my radio, and a nice day of fishing. Wouldn't see a soul. I think there's a road that goes out there now. Oh the memories.

I have no idea. It might have completely dried up during the drought years at some point but it gets replenished when they let water spill over the dam and I bet that's happened the last couple of years. I haven't fished it since I was in high school during the late 80's. I think you would just have to check it out.

#35👍🏻📱👀👂🏼 Is Jane still with us? You didn't really touch on that specific. When one does a "tribute," I take it as reference to someone that is reflected upon due to their passing. Either way, fishing is life in my sphere and whoever YOUR "Jane" is, be sure to thank them while they are still with us. ✌🏼

Yes she is. She just isn't fishing much these days. Still lives in San Mateo where we grew up. My buddy Daniel I mentioned has the Boston Whaler. I'll be fishing with my two buddies I mentioned probably within the next year. I'm going to fish with Nate up around the Mount Shasta area where he lives now later this Fall.

Good on Jane. I successfully trout fished Lake Siskiyou in the shadow of Mt. Shasta on/around 2/22/24. Good times. Even my dog could come along to the island I was fishing on at the back of the lake (under the bridge).
