I killed a reaper leviathan. Im gonna say it is canon that he has as well because it was so awesome.

Subnautica is undoubtedly one of the saddest survival games because it’s a beautiful environment but everyone you ever hear about in the recordings meets a horrible end and you’re just left alone listening to their final moments or recordings. No one left to share the view with.

Look into a game called Soma. It's an underwater exploration game. Similar in the sense that it is bleak and there are few survivors for you to encounter. Some of them even had their consciousness transferred into machines .....

@@tomfooler9398 ??? in the starting sequence we see ryley (that ¨goober¨) getting out from the aurora, in the aurora we have archives that he worked in there ( he was a Non-Essential Systems Maintenance Chief), the lifepods and people inside are alredy destroyed/dead because ryley was unconcius for a time, the radio was broken so we didnt get the message for the island till it was too late, im not saying all of that happened while we were unconcious but it gives time for some things to happend then the time it takes us to find the lifepods all their ¨lore¨ alredy happened, and just in case you are talking about the rusty habitats, they are the degasi survivors habitat not aurora's

Not really, the oceangate sub was crushed from the pressure so you cant really see the wreck

They were the victims of "no npcs in this game" syndrome.

They actually drowned in the sparse reef. They had no seaglide so they got exhausted above the sparse reef on the way to the randevouz and one of them used up their last strenghts and began sinking rapidly. The other one dived trying to save their friend but couldn't save them. They eventualy lost their strenght too and with nothing to grab onto they started sinking too. They ran out of oxygen and died. Lifepod 6 was the one to explode. The passanger in there started losing their patience when the crew member was looking for lead for 2 radiation suits. The passanger tried to use a flare for possible savers to find them. When the crew member came back in the flare caused an explosion that killed them both. Then the pod sank to the ocean floor.

The crew didn't die in Lifepod 3, they drowned. The crew attempted to swim to the rendezvous, which was energy-consuming, one of the crew finally didn't have enough energy and stopped and was dropping into the ocean. The other crew member attempted to save him, but it was too late. They were all dragged into the ocean, and died from suffocation or lack of O².

Imagine being sorrounded by man eating alien sharks and the thing that kills you is a technical malfunction

Stalkers are all bark no bite. If you hear one of them shouting that means there’s one charging to you, so quickly locate it, pull up your knife, strafe to either side and hit it. It will run away with its tail tucked between his legs like an embarrassed puppy.

@Indie_Live How exactly is getting attacked by an alien shark with no way to fight back after your ship exploded and dropped you to the bottom of the sea "no big deal?" I'm not saying they would have died necessarily, but if this were a real life situation they would be insane to not be absolutely terrified of the predatory life around them.

All things considered, lifepod 3 had a rather merciful end to their run. Lifepod 4 landed right next to the Aurora, which is a death sentence thanks to the leviathans and the massive amount of radiation, as well as the explosion that would come later. As far as I know with lifepod 2, their floatation system failed and they sunk 500m into the sea, into the pitch black blood kelp environment surrounded by squid crabs and ghost leviathans.

The details are so well made, they made it actually look like it was an inside accident

We dont actually talk much about how much of a Chad the mc is, dude actually survived all of this and went home, yeah, there definitely was luck involved in the beginning for where the pod landed but God damn he was badass to endure everything after that.

"Don't go home without us, seriously."

I like watching these because it’s like a museum about the history of the 1st game

Creepy thing is, we never see the bodies of any crew members, meaning they had to have been taken/eaten by something.

These survival games are great, but they’re often so sad. Really adds to the feeling of the game and the hopelessness and loneliness of isolation in an unfamiliar place. Maybe it just triggers my ptsd from prison but it really makes it a much more immersive experience IMO.

Dang they really had the best chance at survival other than the lifepod we’re in yet they died due to themselves.

It’s weird though, because every single life pod looks like this. They all have a large hole in them that seems to have been caused by some explosion or force from the inside. Some of the logs give us info of what caused it. Power cell explosion in this case. And in another (I forget the number), one of the passengers had lit a flare inside the pod and ignited the fuel lines. But other pod logs have evidence of the passengers dying in other ways (like kharaa), and there were definitely some killed by Warpers or other creatures. So why do they all look like they exploded? What’s up with that? Also, why are there no bodies? Did the warpers take or destroy them?

you never really like many big dead animals tough, i mean, the game is literally filled of small fish everywhere, when you get to the aurora or one of the pods the pda says that it detected human remains eaten by nearby fauna, maybe even the more pacific ones are up to some free flesh

One thing that I found very interesting about life pod three is how if you notice the flotation devices did not activate so their pod must have gone through other damages, besides the implosion that happened inside the pressurized life pod

i played through this game reading most things and listening to all the calls 3-4 times and played through it a total of 11 times now. im still finding myself watching these kinds of videos, showing me things about a game i know very well, that i already knew, but i still choose to watch it because its just that good

Reverse the explosion and then you got the titanic submersible

We really need some expansion of their final moments, it could add so much to the horror side of Subnautica. Also, a rated M Subnautica game doesn’t sound so bad; like it would be intense horror with all the scaries.

It's funny the way you see this, the way I saw it was they make the modification, they then actually make it out a ways but then decide to ditch the seaglide and swam to their eventual death to a reaper leviathan.

At the defense of those in Lifepod 3, they dared to modify the Seaglide in hopes of having a shot at survival. Desperation got the better of them when they neglected the risks of overclocking the Seaglide.

Really they were scared of stalkers meanwhile I made the fear me with my kill count using a mere kitchen knife 😂

It’s kinda sad realizing they could’ve just gone out one at a time getting the resources required to get another sea glide, considering they were practically in the shallows.

This lifepod got the greatest chance of survive. Even if it exploded, the crew could just swim up to surface. The stalker should get busied by the metal & equipment from the pod. It also consists of 2 people, further increase the survivability rate by protecting each other's back.

The most annoying one is the one where there’s a tourist on the lifepod which kills herself and the crewmate

I think something that would have been cool (I get that it would take a lot of effort from developers) is if you got to a life pod fast enough you could rescue an npc who would then be found when free roaming building a base or fighting a stalker or something

Actually one of the survivors in escape pod 3 the one you hear in the video makes it to the rendevous/floating island and meets keen the 2nd in command there

Life pod 3 could share his death with his cousin: titan submarine 🥶

Someone had an idea for a small mod, it added another life pod recording and location, but the location was near the void. Basically when you went toward the life pod and got close enough suddenly the life pod's coordinates would rapidly descend until vanishing, you would find a recording near the edge that hinted that there was something big around them and thats it.

More Subnautica lore like this would be awesome.

Strangely enough it looks like the surrounding metal on all the life pods we find, is curved outwards possibly suggesting that whatever caused it Happened on the inside. You could also argue that some creature just tore off a chunk but, the first one is far more terrifying and mysterious.
