OMG guys, i've just found your channel, and makes me so homesick (british BTW). my wife and I lived there on altos del limonar between 2003-2007 in no. 540 the house on the corner, shown in the video. my daughter was born there and it brings a tear to my eye to see the place again. i'd be back tomorrow if i could. i'll be following and checking out all your other videos.

I can't see why anyone would give you a "dislike".! You're both lovely people who make me smile whenever I watch your videos. BTY, can't get the logic in having a washing machine on your terrace. Where's the dryer, or just simply hang them out to dry.? Didn't see a clothesline.

Hi Juan, Thanks for watching and your very nice comment. The washing machine works well on the sun terrace. We think it's quite normal now, we didn't at first but now it's ok. We do have clotheslines up there, two of them. If you watch the clip from 3.53 and maybe pause or slow down, you will see the two washing lines before i go under the parasol between the tv aerial and the left wall. Best wishes, Mike and Yvonne.

Yes we like it and always look forward to coming over. The Turkish place was a little different. It was a two block complex of 33 apartments. Our apartment was over two floors and 3 kms from the sea in Didim (Altinkum). Turkey has some beautiful wooded areas but like you say it’s just bit too far. We also spent years going to Kos in Greece. Hi Julia, yes we got all the furniture with the purchase but we are slowly replaced most of it to our taste. The kitchen is new as you have seen in the video. The satellite dish was there already but I replaced it for a bigger one and moved it lower down the wall as it was moving too much in the wind and affecting the signal. The lounge furniture is all new along with the corner sofa, table and chairs. Thanks for watching, all the best, Mike and Yvonne.

I lived in Quesada some 15 years ago and having seen the development around the area I’m rather pleased that I came back,plus an issue with the corrupt local police. Hi Jason, we are happy we bought in 2017, it was at the time when we knew brexit was happening but we went ahead with no reservations. Been waiting for this one ! Your place looks lovely and I especially like your newer kitchen . 👍 I too have some questions if that's ok ? How far are you from centre torrevieja? Can you get buses to places if you don't want to drive or use a bike ? Could you walk to playa del cura ? Where can you walk to , as places of interest , shopping etc ? Thank you Jacqueline, we are only about a 35min walk from Torrevieja centre. There are buses from where we are to Torrevieja about every 40 mins and cost €1.35 each. You can walk to Habaneras shopping centre in 12 mins, walk to the beach in 40 mins. Playa del Cura beach is a little further round maybe another 10 mins. We cover a lot of what you ask in previous videos. There are now over 50 videos so a lot to get through but we try to give as much info on location as we can. All the best Mike and Yvonne.

Hi Alan, yes, we are not sure how it will affect us here. I think some good and some bad, we will have to wait and see. I suppose eventually we will have more facilities and amenities along with a bridge across the road? @@BetweenTheLakes agree we should have more facilities and amenities , bridge would be great, there will be a new School, also big DIY shop, many people will want to live between the lakes, cannot stop progress , new Bus Station , loads of employment , lucky we got in early, C19 has changed us all, so we are in a great home from home, agree Spain will push for UK exceptions, Airport numbers down 90%, usually 6million a year. we will just need to learn how to adapt in the sun.

Quite a bit lower than Northern Costa Blanca for example. In the video, we recommend that people travel to and spend time in the areas they are interested in to see if it's for them. Everybody is different some like it quiet, some like it busy so being there is the best way to find out, after all, it is a big commitment. Hope it helps, best wishes, Mike and Yvonne.

@@BetweenTheLakes thanks. It's incredible the difference of climate with where I live up North of Perpignan close to the coast . It's chilly here right now.

It’s crazy how they are still building so many houses in that region and there are so many half finished buildings and empty houses around. And a lot of Irish and British people are selling up especially since Covid 19 and Brexit. My parents have a house about 10kms from Torrevieja and they are thinking about selling now😭. They’ve only been out there once since March 2020 after my dad caught Covid 19 on a plane coming back to Ireland from Spain. I found it fascinating that they have covered electrical sockets outside. You don’t really see that in rainy Ireland.

Well , Brits are beign replaced by the germans,escandinavian, french and the dutch . Remember Spain is the second most visited country in the world. Many northern spaniards retire in the east and the south also... I guess everything will be sold out soon enough.

Hi Rob, I think they must be cousins as I've just looked at the rules. It's very similar with the same objective - to get closest to the jack. I think Petanca is big in Spain and originated in France. Bocce originated in Italy. I would have to do a bit of research to find out the answer on that one. Nice home in paradise, but the steps are a problem as you get old, and really you need 2 bathrooms, anyway ye made the dream come true, we have a house in Villamartin but when we are there 6 Weeks we want to come home to Ireland and then when we are here 6 Weeks, we want to go back out, we bought in 2001 very cheap, then our grand children we miss them so much when we are out there, does that bother ye.....

Can I ask a couple of questions? 1, is your house cold in winter and are you able to catch any daytime heat from the sun. 2. As you are in a quad and the build is not new, do you get noise coming through the walls from the neighbours. Most Spanish properties I've been in have paper thin walls. Maybe those new builds will have good heat and noise insulation. Thanks for the great videos, Tony

Hi Tony, Thanks for watching and commenting. The house is cold in winter yes. We have no heating except an oil filled radiator and the air conditioning unit which also blows warm air which is very effective. We have no way of harnessing the power of the sun, we haven't looked into it but I believe solar panels are something that some people use. We are lucky to have decent quiet neighbour's so noise is not a problem for us. The walls are thinner than UK walls as there is no insulation in them. I believe building regulations have changed recently in Spain and the construction has to be better now than it was. I think our house was built in early 2000. @@BetweenTheLakes Spanish cold is still a warm for UK, you can get blow heaters ,electric blankets (save £££) south facing is good , if planning on living in Spain then for sure get a log fire, new build homes, still thin and all modern, and £200K,extra !! not Spanish feel and could be anywhere. Spain is all about outside, were just back and was 20deg at peak in Dec, almost a Scottish summer !!!

6:54 is the development La Hoya (the hole)? or La 'oya'. La Jolla would be said the way you're pronouncing it. I really enjoy you both but sometimes the pronunciations bugs me - the anglification of the Spanish language which is a common practice in California.

It is spelt as you see on the video, La Hoya - translates in Spanish as “the pit” We are from Yorkshire and although we respect and try our best with the Spanish pronunciations we do get it wrong sometimes, so apologies if we have, in your opinion. @@elaineoconnor2630 Thank you Elaine for your support. It's great to know our faithful subscribers can put up with our pronunciation failures. Although we are a little confused about the way we say La Hoya, as in Spanish, it sounds like the way we say it with a slightly dropped "h". A subtle difference but we are from Yorkshire and may not be able to tell the difference.....lol

@@BetweenTheLakes been to La Jolla many times when working in San Diego , does have a common rugged coast line , and must say the beaches in Spain are much better, the prices of living a lot , lot lot cheaper than SD and not as congested, best of all only 3hr flight from UK. There is so much new investment in Spain following C19, prices rising and many new build , 2bed on the coast $350K , head over soon. MY - great videos , sure your missing Spain already, new rules for 2022...
