As an Avid coin collector you have inspired me to start my own channel, coming soon. Anyhow the 1919 penny has 5 different varieties with the No dot, dot below and dot above bottom scroll being the three most common. You also have dot below in wide and narrow dates. They were all London OBV and Birmingham REVERSE. The 1920's are even more complex with 8 different varieties ! But look out for ultra rare 1920 no dot with indian obverse. Kev

Great Australian penny hunt. Like that you used a board setup for tracking dates of coins found. A very effective method. Good luck finding the missing dated coins.

PL stood for struck in London, 1930 is the year you need to look out for Paul, but you don’t do “foreign pennies” so it matters not, Fantastic upload, loved it

I loved this visit to Down Under. Going dotty!!! There are so many varieties of dots and no dots, I believe you may have your work cut out to log them all. Think the dots near the scrolls (could be above or below) for the early years are Melbourne and Sydney Mints, not Perth. I honestly thought that PL could stand for Penny London! 😂 🎵"My boomerang won't come back"🎶....Oh you've found it! 😂 (Good job it wasn't a didgeridoo getting thrown at you!)👍

Nice buy Paul a lot of nice penny's I was waiting for the 1946 as it's low mintage and look up the dot variety as the 1920 no dots is the one you want the 1930 has a mintage of around 2000 and here in Australia one was sold for $40,000. The perth mint was slack back in the days of making pennys as they didn't change the dies very often week strike the pennys I have are in very good condition the Melbourne mint coins are a lot better and the Indian pennys the head of the roo doesn't look right over all Paul good buy cheers mate. 👍🇦🇺🇦🇺👍

Excellent purchase and video I now have to check all the mint marks in my Australian collection. Love a 'real live' auction. Last week I picked up 10 Whitman folders + 1, with coins - I've yet to go through them all 🤦‍♀️!

I had to review the mint marks. Here is a quick reference: Perth had a dot after Penny or a dot after Australia or dots after K and G (in KG) Melbourne had no dots thus no mint mark. India had an I. This is only for the years 1942 and 1943. The 1951 is the only year with a PL after penny, denoting it was minted in London. The 1930 is very rare (estimated mintage of 1,600) The 1931 is a scarce date (mintage figures show 494,400) The 1937 was not released (12 known) 1946 is scarce (mintage figures show 240,000) According to the Royal Australian Mint, the King George V pennies have 3 reverse die varieties. No dots around the scroll, a dot above the bottom scroll, a dot below the bottom scroll. These do not designate a mint. They do designate the origin of the die.

Beautiful lot of coins. They are tough to find here in the US.

i do like the portrait of George V on these Australian pennies and the condition of some of these coins is outstanding.

That was an excellent buy Paul, one that makes me jealous as this week was vey slim pickings at my local auction. The only coin lot was small but did yield a 1799 half penny to upgrade the collection and an Irish 1805 half that's an addition. At £22, I would have paid that myself for that lot if it had come up local to me.

Nice change to Australian pennies the older pennies look better and are in better condition as always lots of information brilliant

Nice lot of Australian pennies. It's unfortunate that some of the pennies have corrosion spots. I wonder how the pennies were stored. That may have caused the corrosion. Now would be the time to conserve the pennies before the corrosion gets worse.

There were no Australian pennies released in 1937 or 1954. The rarer ones are 1930 (worth $20K AUD upwards depending on grade), 1925 and 1946. The 1919 and 1920 pennies had the dots, There were five variations to denote the mintmark, including those with no dots. Variations of 1924 (filled 4) and 1931 (dropped 1) exist. Photos are widely available online. 1916-18 I = Calcutta, while 1942-1943 I = Bombay mints. 1912H (yes, Heaton) and 1915H and no H also exist.

Nice Video as usual. It has alays struck me how the quality of most of the early Australian, New Zealand and Canadian Pennies/Halfpennies seem to be in much better condition than GB ones.

Aside from the ultra rare 1930, 1925 and 1946 are also tough

The star must be part of the Southern Cross, as displayed in the Aussie flag. Really love these coins, I have several.

Cook. I've never seen an Australian Penny before.

The George the 5th obverse is also on some other coins like old Hong Kong coins

.. the mint mark's might be upside down ... ? Merry Christmas...

Wow what a great aside from your normal 1d hunts. The Aussie 1d's vary in strike quality, the Kangaroo ones being the worst. Lets hope more turn up in the 1000 1d hunts. Nice video Paul.
