A Time of Quiet Between the Storms (Duduk Cover)

Музыка

My new album, Tessellation, is out now:
• Keegan Tawa - Tessella...
One of my favorite aspects of Dune 2 was the incredible emphasis on the Duduk! The huge, sweeping melodies in unison with the massive Vangelean synthesizers were truly, absolutely epic. Here is one of my favorite motifs from the film.

  • @KeeganTawa0

    @KeeganTawa0

    2 ай бұрын

    @@Tommyboy90 yes - in fact, a nurwind reed will physically mount into the nurwind body better, because they were made for one another. Nurwind makes really high quality reeds. However, after a lot of playing, I think I prefer the tone and sound of vamelo's reeds. The reason being: Duduk reeds are a very ancient technology, and their current manufacture reflects how reeds were made hundreds, thousands of years ago. For this reason, they just don't have the industrial standardization of things like saxophone or clarinet reeds. I find myself buying dozens of Duduks reeds and really connecting with two or three. Vamelo has a type of reed.. their "elite" series.. where they essentially pre-screen many reeds and filter them down to those that perform really well. They cost $30 more, but because these reeds last a year or so, I think the cost is worth it. Nurwind's reeds I think are of the same quality, but they don't have such an "elite" option where they pre screen reeds. In the end I think you should get a couple of reeds from each maker and decide for yourself - it's highly subjective. Let me know if you have any thoughts or questions!

    This song definitely doesn't require any modifications to play.. listening through the score, it just sounds like a conventional diatonic A duduk as well. Or perhaps somewhere else in the score they use an extended range Dududk!@@harshgarrett
