Having just recently purchased, my experience was a little complicated. I ordered it with the showroom staff, and after a mistake, it was found nothing was in stock, so I needed to wait. Then the colour I ordered got cancelled, so placed a new order with a new colour. In the process of the boat coming down the east coast of Australia with the car, the car got $9000 cheaper. I just got issued a series of invoices with reduced costs..... until 3 days before they car, the dropped the price again, and that stuffed the lease payment up delaying delivery. But a car company dropping a price you had agreed to pay, right up to delivery. And then giving you delivery and you go home and update the car and it gets more features. Tesla has busted the car buying model wide open.

I’ve ordered a Tesla model 3 performance in Australia for the following reasons 1- No dealers - as I’ve always found interacting with dealers to be an unpleasant experience . I’ve owned a Datsun Fairlady 2000, 2x Alfa Spiders, a TR4 ,TR6 , Cordia Turbo , A9X hatchback , Porsche 911E , 4 Falcon Station Wagons and currently have a VW Golf R wagon - at least half of which were purchased from dealers. 2- no more basic dealer car services involving $500 to change the oil and filters etc 3- Tesla have the runs on the board. I’m sure at this point in time there are many excellent EV ‘s out there. Some will be roughly on a par with Teslas but they are not substantially better as far as I can see. ( especially keeping purchase price in mind) - Who needs fake engine noises , fake gearboxes and gauges everywhere that are a throwback to ICE vehicles ? Just a pleasant quiet car with insane performance that doesn’t stand out. 4- I want a sedan ,not an SUV 5- The weight of an Model 3 is reasonable for an EV. Usually about 350 kg less than most SUV’s. 6- I can trickle charge the car at home 7-I’m nearly 77 yo and I may not have the time left to wait for something that is promised to be better a couple of years down the track My delivery time window is July to September. Can’t wait. I just hope I last that long !!!! 😂

@@PyroShields Yes. I hate it. I ordered a bit late on the first day. There is a lot of misinformation out there about Tesla and most other brands. Both positive and negative. It’s runs on the board that count , not promises with a 2 year wait. I tend to watch most videos with an enquiring mind. Information is golden. You just have to sort it out. Cheers. BlaMM

That used to be me. Used to think that EVs were heavy, slow and had limited range. All it took was a couple of test drives in a Tesla and my mind was changed forever. Part of the reason why I bought a Tesla besides their seasonal discounts was the purchasing experience. You purchase the car that you want online at the price that you see. There are no markups, no added dealership fees, no price haggling, no "I got to take your offer to my manager to approve" BS, etc. It's a simple and smooth process, from beginning to end. Since my Tesla purchase I've never looked back. Do yourself a favour and buy a Tesla, you won't regret it.

Oh yes, I hated that BS as well because during negotiating on one car purchase it happened like 5 times! Eventually just walked out. Bought a Tesla 3 weeks ago and test drove one the first time 2 days ago just to be sure! Didn’t even mind the possibility of losing my deposit - that’s how much I hate the whole dealer process!

So true. Buying from Tesla online was like a breath of fresh air. I have always loathed buying through a dealer. I hated the whole time consuming, asinine process and I always had buyers remorse or had a lingering suspicion I had been screwed over. Buying online is completely transparent, everyone gets the same deal, it's quick, simple and you don't have to negotiate with a salesman who only really cares about their own interest. You don't get the hard sell BS or passed through the finance, paint protection/accessories sales people. We recently also bought another EV that had to be bought through a Dealer and it was just as bad as I remembered, if not worse because it was quite apparent they would have much rather sold us an ICE vehicle.

  • @BenGreggSweden

I worked at a Mazda dealership in Georgia in the early 90s, and was appalled by how dishonest and sleazy they were. My sales manager had to approve every one of my deals, but loved to gouge people. Then, if they needed financing (which most people did) our finance manager’s favorite tactic was to ignore the trade-in value when negotiating the monthly payment. He would basically set it up so that the buyers were effectively paying for the new car, while getting no credit for the traded-in vehicles, which in some cases were fully paid off and worth thousands of dollars. It broke my heart to see this going on, and I eventually realized that I just needed to quit, even though the money was good (probably due to the fact that we were ripping so many people off). It was a real eye-opener to see how few people understood how financing works-or even read the contracts they were signing, not even seeming to have a grasp of even basic math! Sad.

I own a Smart Car, which is of course supported (begrudgingly) by Mercedes Dealerships. Strangely enough, the spare parts are very reasonable. However, that dealership is a top notch, pristine affair, with sharply dressed young people and eye watering priced vehicles. I had a couple of Key Fobs programmed, and they charged me for half an hour workshop time. Workshop time is about £175/hour. These palaces treat all of its customers as fools. They must hate me, I bought my car from eBay as a non-runner for next to nothing. The problem I have with EVs, is that it's going to take a decade or more before really cheap but still viable second hand cars make it to market. I never pay more than a few thousand for a car, and I'm not about to change unless I have to. £400/month is an insane amount of money to waste on a car.

For example, the offered me 4k less than KBB for my car and insisted I may get more but only AFTER doing the non refundable deposit. The second thing is that the delivery fees says $500 but it’s actually 2K because I am more than 250 miles away. It all worked out since I selected a different car based on my location but these things need to be more upfront

But I’ll probably never buy one unless they change to a HUD, indicator stalks and buttons. I don’t want to get used to anything I want to be able to safely change volume, heating and indicate with having to think about it and no voice control is not the answer who wants to shout at a car stopping whatever music you have on. Also I think they do actually make the worst auto wipers on the market Dacia do better. Whoever is responsible for the stalks coming off has never driven in the U.K. and trying to be different for the sake of it.

The great problem in the United States is that the dealership model of selling consumer motor vehicles, that all the legacy major car manufacturers use, is in enshrined in US state law. It's only the new EV manufacturers, Tesla, Rivian, Lucid that have been able to negotiate, with each state, around this and sell directly to the public. I don't know how the legacy manufacturers, and that includes all the legacy foreign brands are going to be able to get around these state laws.

The thing is, People buying Audi's want options ! Tesla can sell cars that way since they have a couple of colors, 2 interior colors and all the other extra's are software activated or a set of wheels and hitch. In fact they have 5 colors for the model 3 and 2 interior choices making just a total of 10 configs. Now, compare that to any other major brand with the colors, interior trims, option packages, etc and you will have many many more configs and uniqueness. Let's face it, all model 3/Y's are the same .. Not even tinted back windows are an option. Now with the new performance you do get some seperation but the majority will not be buying that version due to costs.

I test-drove a Model 3. Nice performance, frustrating controls and off-center guage cluster location. Esthetics not to my liking. Here's a few examples of EVs I like better than Teslas: Ford F-150 Lightning Nissan Leaf Audi Q4 e-Tron Genesis GV70 BMW i4 Chevy Blazer EV Kia EV6 It's simply personal preference. I'd gladly trade some range for more buttons, knobs and switches. It seems that "Screen Fatigue" is a growing trend for many others as well.

I just ordered my first Tesla ever. I have to say the experience has been kind of terrible. I visited a Tesla showroom to see the new Model 3 Performance before placing an order, this was right after the price increase and obviously the 10k head layoff at Tesla. The agent at the location was great when getting the deal, I didn't make up my mind to move forward at the showroom but I followed the deal and on the app knowing he would get credit. The agent was super attentive and would call me every time I would text a question. After the deal and getting details, the approval process and even now after having to call Tesla corp to get approved was a nightmare. No one could tell me what I needed to do, things just remained pending. Seems these lay offs are really effecting day to day operations and I am nervous to purchase this car at this point.

"Ah, the folly of modern commerce laid bare before us. This Craig, once intoxicated by the seductive allure of luxury, now swears allegiance to the efficiency of the Tesla purchase. How quaint. The labyrinthine dealership model, with its layers of deceit and hidden tolls, is as satisfying to the corporate suits as a Cenobite's hooks are to our acolytes. But beware, for simplicity can breed complacency, and complacency is a gateway to the endless suffering of unmet expectations. Craig may sing praises of this newfound loyalty, but I sense the pain of unfulfilled promises lurking beneath. Automakers clinging to antiquated practices shall be dragged into oblivion unless they transcend their greed. You will all find that the pursuit of desire comes at a price. Perhaps one day, Craig will discover the line between pleasure and pain as he revels in his newfound clarity. We have such sights to show you, my dear Craig." - Pinhead

Well… I somehow disagree. I took last year a Tesla, the buying process, nice and easy, just some clicks and done, afterwards comes the headaches…delays after delays, you have to do all the paperwork for registration and after more delays I got the car nothing special with 13% battery. I took also an Audi Q4, I was invited to visit the factory, got a fancy meal for free for the entire family, Audi dealership did all the paperwork and received the car with 100% battery. I would buy another Audi just for the buying experience itself.

That’s great for you. But I have a relevant question; Did you get the same price as the guy that walked in before you? Or did you get raked over the coals for that fancy meal and pay much more? That’s the problem, you don’t know and may never know - it all depends on how good you are at negotiating. Tesla at least takes all that away - everyone gets the same price for the same car; and it’s been that way from day one. That is why people that buy Teslas don’t like dealerships - it has nothing to do with being a fan of anything but rather an advocate of fairness. Simple. I’ve done all the paperwork and don’t see a problem - I’ll let you know how it goes.

@@RandyP-jr1ek I don’t know if I got the same price as the guy before me… this is true, but somehow the Audi had a higher purchase price than the Tesla and I got a better leasing deal to Audi than what I got at Tesla. So I’m satisfied, and I enjoy the car with the idea that I got a good deal, and I don’t care if someone else obtained an even better price. It depends on what you prefer at the end… if you want a consistent price, yeah Tesla is the way to go. If have time to ask offers at multiple dealers for the same car you can obtain a really good deal without having to negotiate too hard.

@@xXxM4nuxXx Yes, I like Audi a lot and was went to the dealer in 2016 to buy one (an A4), but it was just over priced - 2 wheel drive at ~$40k before taxes. Unfortunately, we don’t have that many dealers selling new Audis, so I could not shop around - hundreds of miles apart. I m sure I would have liked the car, but the whole dealer process has finally turned me off - Honda did even worse on an Accord when we agreed on a price, but days later they refused to deliver on it. So there are many, many people like me that hate to work with dealers - and that just to start the conversation.

  • @timothykeith1367
    @timothykeith136719 күн бұрын

All you had to say is "Audi". German cars in general are high maintenance - especially after 2010. The EV opinion of an Audi owner is irrelevent. Tesla doesn't service its batteries, they only replace them, even when it could be a minor repair. No dealer-based EV does any better than Tesla - which is to say, they are all bad in servicing batteries - lack training etc. Generally, the EV owners are car buyers who replace their vehicle every two or three years, so that issues like the battery aren't in scope. That's how they balance massive depreciation with scant fuel savings. Toyota buyers tend to think long-term. All the talk of EVs is creating a waiting list for Toyota hybrids with dealer markups. The FUD that had been circulating in rumours around the Prius since 2000 now looks preferable to the FUD around EVs. Nobody has heard of a Prius that burned down a house etc.
