Tiy reminds me so much of Tibbin, undernourished and low energy. I'll be very much surprised if she's still alive today. Even if she did live long enough to forage, Tina would no doubt steal the food right out of her mouth. It's just heartbreaking.

I'm going to worry from now on about Tiy. I hope she makes it. Maybe Wilde is her father. The other females kept a distance from him but not Tina. Maybe she is one of his chosen ones just like Skinny's daughter Sissy is. It was nice to see our "old" boys. The 2016-2017 boys from Bossy's troop but it was also nice to see new friends we learned to know from MC like Lydia with her yearling daughter Jessy and her boy Ritchie born this year and Bunny, an older daughter of Lydia with her son Louie born this year. Hello! Dopey, Knotty and Knitty and the rest of our boys of 2016.

Babies do lose a little weight after birth. Holding on to mom can burn alot of calories. Some moms don’t help the babies as much.

Oh Arroz, I hope you’re not trying to prepare us for later news about Ty. Until I hear any differently, I’m going to be praying for that precious little girl, just as I did for Teeny not so long ago.

Let's hope for the best 🙏 for Ty. Tiny and Teeny made it during the time when goodies were scarce how much more when there are so much foods around, Ty should make it 🙏🤞 I wish and hope🤞🙏🙏

Its not unusual for a baby to loose some weight in the first few days after birth, as they lose extra fluid weight that the got in the womb and it can take a few days from the mother's milk to fully come in. The initial milk they get is colostrum which mainly provides all the immune factors a newborn needs from the mother and necessary digestive factors and so on. It has decent calories but most of those are burned by the body as the organs transition from the state of function in the womb to live existing separate from mother. Respiration alone is a huge drain on calories in a newborn, and in human babies, help with breathing - from administration of oxygen to use of positive pressure oxygen administration to actually putting them on a ventilator is done when they are working hard to breathe and burning all their calories to do so. Aside from that the kidneys have to take over fulling filtering waste products in the blood and producing urine, other organs have to turn on and start producing digestive enzymes to break down food which was not a function needed before birth, and the intestines have to also take over absorbing nutrients and processing waste. In the womb this was all done, for the most part by the mother's body as fetuses get all their food from the mother and all their waste are filtered back out for the mother to excrete. Although a fetus swallows amniotic fluid there is really nothing much in the bowels to deal with until shortly before birth and then it's only excreted if the fetus is stressed. Initially a newborn feeds and sleeps especially while its body transitions to outside the womb and sleeping allows for caloric intake to be conserved to provide energy for things the body needs to do and not wasted on muscular activity. More awake time and activity comes as the regular milk supply comes in and becomes stable and provides what the newborn needs to grow and then starts spending more time awake and moving. Usually weight loss right after birth reverses and baby starts to gain weight and activity levels with a good milk supply established. Caloric and fat content in breast milk differs from mother to mother but is usually within a range beneficial to a baby. Some babies gains weight and have more activity if the milk is on the highside of the range for calories and fat faster than a baby whose mother might have breast milk on the lower side. However, as long as the milk is within the normal range, developmental milestones are usually hit within a few days of age consistent with others of the same age. A baby that is losing significant and notable weight after the first few days can be due to any number of causes. Simply a heavy parasite load picked up from the mother after birth as some blood born eggs can go into breast milk, or the mother is having trouble establishing a consistent milk supply because she is not eating what she needs r is not hydrating well or both, or the mother could just not be physically a good milk producer. In humans, on occasion no matter what one does a woman just will not be able to produce milk well or even at all, even if she gets all the food and fluids she need. This could be anything from arrested development of milk glands, hormone imbalances and so on. Humans, and some other species figured out how to deal with this by allowing other lactating mother to co-nurse, use of wet-nurses and so on through history. Some species, especially ones that have a strong social herd, have designated allomothers, which are other females, some lactating and some not, that care for other mothers babies to relieve them for periods of time and the ones that lactate will also supplement a hungry infant - you see this in Elephants for example. Although the closeups of Ty nursing show you that he is suckling but not latched on well. No amount of suckling, if not latched well is going to stimulate Tina's milk production much as all. Hopefully it does stimulate enough that Ty can hang on until he can eat solids but this is also going to mean that his development will be arrested as all he is doing now, at a time he should be hitting milestone after smile stone he is just sleeping through or resting and nursing to try and survive. Its sad to see that even when awake he does not seem to have the energy of a 5-7 day old to really show interest in what is happening around him For a two week old primate baby to significantly loose weight like it appears Ty has, unless he was born exceptionally heavy, one has to question if his mother has not established a good milk supply yet or if she is producing milk that is below the range in fat and calories needed for a newborn, or if Ty himself has issues such as parasites or a immature gut. If he was not seeming to suckle almost constantly then mom not getting a stable milk supply could possibly be because he is not emptying the breast well, that might be an issue, but since he seems to be suckling a great deal and his mother's breast's actually appear drained, it may well be because he is not getting enough milk. Now at two weeks he still seems to be sleeping all the time and not very active its most likely that is occurring to save calories otherwise by two - three weeks, as he gets teeth, if he was active at all he could be sharing solid foods and sustaining his weight. In sanctuary facilities that allow breeding, a baby showing these signed would be offered supplementary feeding if they could adjust to an artificial nipple while still nursing on mom, and mom would be fed special dies to promote milk and given lactation hormones. If that did not stave off starvation until a baby could eat solids and drink milk from at least a bowl it might be decided that the baby needs to be removed and hand reared at least until they were healthy enough to rejoin the mother and troop, although still receiving milk at regular times from the staff.

So sad to know that Tina is not lactating enough milk to nurse Tiy no matter How much food she will fed, meaning Tiy might undergo the same fate just like Tiny and Teeny and hopefully Tiy will make it, I remember dear Tibbin did not make it.

If Tina wasn't producing milk then Tiy would not be able to get anything. She is clearly drinking. It maybe that Tina's milk is not of good quality. It may be too week. Also, if Tina has moved up in rank due to Tiy being a higher ranking males offspring, if Tina loses Tiy her rank will fall again. This might be why she is also allowing Tiy to nurse longer than any of her previous babies. Just my opinion

The ones who get neutered are the ones who get caught in those big green cages up and down monkey hill road that you sometimes see in AM's videos... they put food in them so some monkeys get used to feeding in there, then one day when there's a bunch eating in there, the trap is sprung and the gate shuts. Those caught in there are rhen neutered

I think Tina has a lactation problem. She doesn't produce enough milk.

Tyi looks so thin--must be the paucity of Tina's milk. I hope she survives like her older sisters Teeny and Tiny. Wait and see. . .🙈🙊🙉🇬🇧🇺🇸

@@PamPreston78 You don't really see it with the one's in the wild. Or whatever the wild can be considered. You mainly can see it done with infants that are kepted as pets that drink from a bottle. And it happens more often when they are sharing or fighting for a bottle with more than one. You can see their little pouches filling up because they are trying to drink fast. They are in a constant survival mode. It never turns off.

@@pitbull1026 I just noticed one of the 2016 babies had a puffy pouch after nursing and it never occurred to me that maybe they could store a bit there. I so enjoy the AM videos and read the comments of you and your friends. You all seem to be much more knowledgable of the monkeys, their histories and personalities. Can someone please explain why Arroz says that Tina does not produce milk no matter how much she is fed? Is it like a problem with her glands, or something?

I sure hope greedy Tina isn't hoarding the milk for herself and starving poor Tye .I remember her nursing off herself in the past.

As much as i strongly dislike Tina because of her stealing food out of Tiny and Teeny's mouth; i do feel she is doing the best that she can. Ty never stopped nursing. IMO...Tina just isn't producing enough good quality milk to give her babies what they need. And to the person who made the comment about Tina drinking her own milk... I don't think so. She's trying to prime her breasts and/or improve the lactation.

How could they sterilize Goldie???? Nasty nasty!

Dont they have teeth at like a week old?
