    You mean bigger in this situation, as the "nano" quadcopters are about a quarter-billion nanometers across, and since just about anything with single digit nanometer dimensions is not remotely visible to the naked eye unless it's emitting "visible-range" wavelengths of light (as opposed to passively reflecting), the title is misleading market-speak. It's 1 part clickbait and 9 parts very cool tech, but whatever...

    The NSA is collecting everything that anyone does on the internet and recording anything anyone says during phone conversations and storing it all in a gigantic database for easy referencing. I think people playing with quadrocoptors and wearing Google Glasses are the least of our worries.

  • @paddotk

    @paddotk

    Amaroq64 No, because out on the streets and in your home is - or used to be - the one place where you do have some privacy. Now you can't even walk anywhere without risking putting your face in Google's database without even knowing it.

    ***** Why are you worried more about your face being in google's database than your entire personal life being in the government's database? What's google going to do to you? Put ads on your searches that are relevant to your interests?

  • @paddotk

    @paddotk

    10 жыл бұрын

    Amaroq64 1. 'The government' (I assume you mean the USA government) doesn't have cameras on every corner of every street and doesn't make/save profiles based on faces that are seen by cameras. 2. The government has no interest in advertising and tracking your every move and geographical location, etc., unless they have a solid reason to do so. 3. Google is and functions globally and litterally has eyes everywhere now, thanks to the Glasses. You might say that, in a way, Google has more power than all countries' governments combined.

    Below is my original post about a few hours ago on a neighborhood site. Quite amazing. The wind was reported at 12mph Westerly at that time, and these were traveling due South. They must have gone at least 7 miles in 4 minutes. 840 pm sat, at least 60, lighted craft in the night sky, which I first mistook for stars, but noticed them flying overhead and changing formation like an amoeba flew over rather slowly and continued to the south. fascinating. Neighbors also witnessed.

    I should add, I was walking on twin peaks in San Francisco at this evening when I spotted the swarm. It was quite dark, so it was easy to see. I honestly thought they were airplanes and assumed they were at least 7 to 10K feet up judging by their speed relative to me on the ground. But planes just don't swarm like that as far as I know, so figured it must be these flying much lower than I assumed.

    If you've ever played around with these little devices you'd realize that it doesn't take much wind at all to completely destabilize them. Their tiny motors are only so strong and they don't have the power to compensate for strong gusts of wind. Take them outside on a windy day and this experiment would completely fall to pieces.

    would love to see a swarming pattern in 3D space not just as a 2D plane such as the figure 8. Have them be able to track a object in space and swarm around it.... now that would be cool... love the demo
