The fact that these things sound like bees terrifies me in a most primal sort of way

It kinda scares me too
Here after 11 years. Feels weird to see this content again lol.
Now all you need is a BB gun and you've got Space Invaders IRL.
Oh my gosh. That sound speaks to me. The buzzing of them.. it reminds me of Mantrid Drones and makes me hope that these things will soon be able to build copies of themselves. Oh the beauty
The future is here. I hope i'll live long enough to see more stuff like these
OK, these are just too cool...
Imagine having your own augmented reality system or a swarm of robotic hornets at your command. First thing I can think of you could use them as a super flying ability.
WOW this + Martin Jetpack= the next personal urban transport system
THEY'RE IN MY HAIR! THEY'RE IN MY HAIR!
Wow they are snazzy, but imagine what they could be used for.

You could put a 9mm round and small barrel and have this drones kamikaze into the enemy you want to assassinate or make them explode
this has got to be one of the coolest things I have ever seen in my life!! I wish I can build one of those.
Holy crap!!! Thats amazing! Well done!!
I'm teaching Robotics at a high school in NYC. Would love the specs on these. Are the chasis 3D printed? Any open sourced code you guys can share. I'd love a sense of where you get your parts and if you have a starter kit idea. Would love to get small drones going with my students. Thanks!
This is fucking petrifying.
Stunning work
Fantastic work!
"Star wars. Episode 0.1: Attack of clones ... sorry, drones!!" :-)
Cool, real world Space Invaders.

Cool real world black ops 2 swarm score streak
Soon as I saw that figure 8, I was like "WOAH" then liked the video, the point is. This is impressive. You never see anything like this these days.
Great job! Congrats!
I feel like we are looking at the future of the world right here
REAL LIFE GALAGA!
Drones that could communicate visual and location data with each other could easily reconstruct an environment and move around it safely. Here comes the push for secondary co-processors on drones.
It's smile is really eerie considering that buzzing will send people running for cover in the future
manhacks are real. run for your life gordon freeman!
it looks like galaga
The software to control this many drones is amazing I can see the home protection Application for this !
This is awesome!
Now all they need is a frickin laser beam on their head. Totally creeps me out. I want a few hundred of those :D
"nano" seems like a bit of an exaggeration.

In 2012 that was nano.

I didn't know that nanometers got smaller.
@pappaflammyboi5799

You mean bigger in this situation, as the "nano" quadcopters are about a quarter-billion nanometers across, and since just about anything with single digit nanometer dimensions is not remotely visible to the naked eye unless it's emitting "visible-range" wavelengths of light (as opposed to passively reflecting), the title is misleading market-speak. It's 1 part clickbait and 9 parts very cool tech, but whatever...

Love to see that in government hands!
Very impressive. Curious to see wind tunnel testing
Amazing. Great job!
I hate the future!
Anyone can spy on anyone way too easily nowadays. With this and Google Glasses, I don't feel there's any privacy left on this bitching planet.

The NSA is collecting everything that anyone does on the internet and recording anything anyone says during phone conversations and storing it all in a gigantic database for easy referencing. I think people playing with quadrocoptors and wearing Google Glasses are the least of our worries.
@paddotk

Amaroq64 No, because out on the streets and in your home is - or used to be - the one place where you do have some privacy. Now you can't even walk anywhere without risking putting your face in Google's database without even knowing it.

***** Why are you worried more about your face being in google's database than your entire personal life being in the government's database? What's google going to do to you? Put ads on your searches that are relevant to your interests?
@paddotk

Amaroq64 1. 'The government' (I assume you mean the USA government) doesn't have cameras on every corner of every street and doesn't make/save profiles based on faces that are seen by cameras. 2. The government has no interest in advertising and tracking your every move and geographical location, etc., unless they have a solid reason to do so. 3. Google is and functions globally and litterally has eyes everywhere now, thanks to the Glasses. You might say that, in a way, Google has more power than all countries' governments combined.
Impressive - air shows will never be the same again
great work!
Very Impressive ! Keep up the good work ! :)
good show, not all of it can. perfect synchronization of all models
This is f**** awesome! Welcome to the future of warfare
i cant wait until they have a bunch of these full sized doing air shows at the superbowl
I put this at about 60% awesome and 40% terrifying.
...so finally I know what the pixels in Space Invaders were supposed to be!
This is freaking awesome
this is really cool!
The noise is terrifying!
this is actually scarier than it is amazing, or at least equal parts scary and amazing.
quite amazing good job!
Incredible.
Next gen technology came earlier than expected.
THATS AWSOME
Also do you have a website detailing the build info for the quads as well as the programs etc used in the development.... would love to learn more how the whole setup works
This is John's vision of the locusts!
This is how Michael Crichton's "Prey" will begin.
This is freaking amazing!!!!!!
Great work, but one fun thought... It would be neat to see these nano quadroters playing Galaga!!
AWSOME this is incredible advancement in flight control.
Spectacular!
I'd love to see you win America's Got talent...set this to music, big lights, dancers....etc
I wanna see up-scaled versions of these.
This is really cool. Teach me your ways.
damn, the figure 8 formation is crazy
they are very smooth functioning robots
“St2pid luv” karaoke in the background you know you’re in the Philippines 😂💀
Below is my original post about a few hours ago on a neighborhood site. Quite amazing. The wind was reported at 12mph Westerly at that time, and these were traveling due South. They must have gone at least 7 miles in 4 minutes. 840 pm sat, at least 60, lighted craft in the night sky, which I first mistook for stars, but noticed them flying overhead and changing formation like an amoeba flew over rather slowly and continued to the south. fascinating. Neighbors also witnessed.
The figure 8 blew my mind
wow! amazing project!
Amazing and terrifying.
Impressionnant !
i just came here from the ten years ago on neal fun, and it shows this video uploaded 14 hours ago with a couple thousand views. so cool
my definition of awesomeness
all of these tech are in the holy book.

amazing, whens it comming out?
They sound cool.
Take my like, you have earned it.
I'm sure this is just an example of the scaled up version that would be TRULY SCARY!
That's wonderful!
I want one of these so bad now
a 100 of this can win wars
thats incredible!
Impresive! Very cool.
That is the coolest tech I have ever seen
Impressive work it is.
this technology will be a certain weapon in the future
this is amazing! and alot work ..
Those would make one fantastic game of Space Invaders.
Wonderfully hellish!
I should add, I was walking on twin peaks in San Francisco at this evening when I spotted the swarm. It was quite dark, so it was easy to see. I honestly thought they were airplanes and assumed they were at least 7 to 10K feet up judging by their speed relative to me on the ground. But planes just don't swarm like that as far as I know, so figured it must be these flying much lower than I assumed.
If you've ever played around with these little devices you'd realize that it doesn't take much wind at all to completely destabilize them. Their tiny motors are only so strong and they don't have the power to compensate for strong gusts of wind. Take them outside on a windy day and this experiment would completely fall to pieces.
would love to see a swarming pattern in 3D space not just as a 2D plane such as the figure 8. Have them be able to track a object in space and swarm around it.... now that would be cool... love the demo
That and it's pure CG...
This is awesome!!!!!!
That's awesome!
bloody awesome..
When it showed the formation Flight of the Valkyries started playing in my head
CARRIER HAS A ARRIVED.
I have seen a lot of crazy stuff on KZread, and by a lot I mean really a LOT. But this is by far the craziest shit I have ever seen...
