A Strategy Where Low Numbers Are BETTER! - Dicey Dungeons
Ойындар
Dicey Dungeons Part 2 - next character is the thief! He steals attacks from his opponents and also has a lot of synergies with low numbers. Let's see what kind of build I can make with that.

A lot of these roguelikes encourage you to chase the biggest number possible, I wonder how you could design a game where the smallest positive number possible is the goal.

Hey, so, I'm unsure if you see this, might comment on another video, however! I have actually found out a secret for the Thief. Actually, you have passed it just by a bit in this game It only works in Act 1, though, where you copy abilities of your enemies. I don't want to give out a spoiler about the secret, so I shall state it only if you ask me to! I will wait! //Or, if you wish, I could just say the special enemy it includes//

Once again, I'd like to suggest you read the story elements of this game! The things the enemies say, the things the Jester says when you win, etc... most of them have bearing on the plot of the game and will make certain events later make sense. In fact... it might be worth it for you to rewatch your own videos and pause whenever the Jester says something, to read it yourself... I can't *make* you play the game that way, obviously, but as someone who loved the gameplay and the story of this title, I do feel obligated to *suggest* that you do so.

THIS. Even from the perspective of a viewer, skipping the story is a MASSIVE mistake.
Tip for future runs: the xp works out so that if you kill every available enemy you will always reach max level and be at full HP for the final fight. You only need to worry about your level/hp if you are skipping fights (which you may need to do with the harder characters/chapters).

It's strange how he thinks that you can't get a second dice from putting a 6 in bump, but he figures out you can get a second 1 from splitting a 1 💀
Great job figuring out the Lockpicking the 1 die, that's a solid strategy. But you may be sleeping on the power of Poison needle. Since you can use it up to three times in a battle, the initial damage is low. But the real strength is when you use it on the longer battles. second turn of poison can become 5, and then 7, and so on. The more times you add poison the more damage stacks on. And the true value is the square numbers as the poison wears off (Stacks decrease by 1 every turn, not cleared like burn or frozen)
cunterfeiting actually does steal from the people, just as printing money does. imagine the currency itself having a value, with each dollar only representing a portion of that currency, adding all the dollars in existence together results in the value of the currency. making new dollars doesn't make any new value, only splits the existing value up into smaller portions, meaning every dollar drops in value.

But how would the value be affected if people don't know that the money is being made? You obviously wouldn't tell anyone you're making fake money because it's illegal so how would the value be affected by it if people don't know that there's more money in circulation?
@aidenaune7008
2 жыл бұрын
@@jdr293 because money doesnt have value because we say it does, money has value because we use it as if it does. it is the use of money that gives it its value, total value of goods divided by total number of dollars used to buy those goods, when you tamper with the amount of money you arent tampering with the amount of goods to use it on. have you ever heard of supply and demand? it doesn't just apply to good and services, it applies to every part of any transaction, for instance, labor, wages, and money are all affected by supply and demand. when there is more money in circulation than is needed, the value of that money goes down because it is easier to get, there isn't enough demand to warrant that much money, but since the dollar is a representation of value, its reduction in value actually reduces supply, bringing it to that equilibrium point. there is less value because there is more money, meaning there is more demand for money. all of this works no matter whether people actually know there is more money or not. the government can secretly double the amount of dollars in existence and slowly spread them into circulation and we would still experience the drop in value. government printing is theft, it is stealing your money by taking some of your money's value away and putting it in those new dollars.

This is why inflation is bad despite what capitalist priests will tell you.
@jetison333
2 жыл бұрын
@@jdr293 no one needs to know about the supply of money, just the fact that it's out there trading hands will decrease the value of money. Basically, because there's more money, people will try to buy more goods, which will drive the price up as they compete to buy it. (Or they'll be willing to pay more for it, which is basically the same thing.) You might wonder what would happen if you printed a few million dollars and then let it sit in a safe and never did anything with it. You would expect that it wouldn't cause inflation then, and you would be right. Inflation actually depends on two variables, the amount of money, and what's called the velocity of money, which is how fast money changes hands.
In addition to bumping a 6 into a 6 and 1, you can also split a 1 and it’ll give you two 1s. Edit: Looks like he figured it out.

Thief ended up being my favourite character when I played, he has a lot of varied strategies - Dagger+ strat, Poison strat, Crowbar strat, *Bear* strat, etc. - while still being relatively simple to play. And there's nothing quite like launching fifteen different Dagger+ attacks at your opponent in one turn.
So excited to see this game becoming a series! I love this game :D

Oh wow, a perfect build for bumping a six into a six and a one! I can't wait to see him do that!!
Crowbar is very good, run defining even, countdowns are the numbers on items that carry over to other turns, as you put dice into them, they count down.
Gotta love the robot, next episode will be HYPEEEEEEE

More, this series is going to be great!
Hey Tyler, cards with a maximum value just means that dice values higher get bumped down. So, the dagger could use any number, but only do up to 4 damage, even with a 6 die
I love when tyler duplicates his dice before bumping it
In both cases the Curse you put on the enemy activated with their curse attack (when the enemy gets the "Cursed" animation is when THAT attack failed due to curse). So you got really lucky there and always prevented the curse with a curse.

Tylerlangelo my favorite smart guy, you can put 6’s in bump and make a 6 and a 1 and similarly with other things too, like lockpick where you can put in a 1 and get two 1’s. Remember there are no restrictions to what you can put in unless the equipment says so! :)
0:56 The Thief’s gimmick is that he has one move that copies one of the enemy’s moves.
Very cool build
Tyler: does something wrong Me: *yells at Tyler for making a stupid* Tyler: *yells at himself for making a stupid* *repeat* Ahh entertainment
Countdown abilities are good on the thief even just because you sometimes end your turn with dice that you can't use because they're too high value so you can put them into your countdowns instead. They serve that purpose on other characters too but it's particularly useful on my pretty green boi
1:14 you can bump the 6 into a 7 which will output as 6 and a 1, then you can split the one into two ones tiring your roll of 12 into 14. You're just starting out so I'm looking forward to seeing your strategy evolve as you learn the logic points of the game.
I look forward to the next character specifically :D

You can get the four ones and split it to get a total of five ones. useless individually but that can be used on a build-up move ad counterfeit and you have a DIY nat 6

Btw, in dicey dungeons you can use the home reset that Bloons taught you so well if things get dicey, pun intended
Also, the robot is gonna be… interesting to say the least heh

Crowbar is really good with a countdown build... back in the early days of this game Crowbar+ used to be reusable and it was so broken because it counts down timers for the next turn too, you’d have midnight charm and just get 2 free sixes every turn In other news if you haven’t met Cornelius yet (halfway through vid) then I hope you do soon :)
I find it sorta funny that when you kill the paper knight, you are just killing a child lol.
You should try to bump a 6. It will add a die of 1 and you keep the 6. It's been a while since I played last. But I'm very certain it worked that way and should still work that way. It would have been useful for you multiple times.
Bump it, bop it, blast it.
“steal from the big government not from the people” is unbelievably based
At the start you could have bumped the six and got an extra dice with a one then lock picked the one into two ones for extra dice
Small tip: Bumping a 6 gives you the 6 back as well as giving you a 1, which is nice.
thanks alot

If you get the bear potion, you can use it and your character completely changes
btw if you put a 6 into bump you get the 6 back and a new 1 dice
fun fact: similarly to how lockpicking a one gives 2 ones bumping a six gives a one AND a six
Thief is honestly my favorite character in this game. I played when it was like beta testing and thief was broken I don't know what they changed but thief is still my favorite
I once did a poison build that absolutely murdered the final boss
Last night i managed to set up a build that was busted, i had a reusable countdown (8) ability that did damage and froze dice, a reusable countdown (2) that healed 2 health, a countdown (10) that did a random status effect and an ability with a max of 4 that would do the inputted damage and reduce all countdowns by that (2 uses). Used lockpick and bump to confirm I'd get at least 1 4, drop the countdowns with the damaging ability where I'd always heal 4 health and freeze every turn, finish the countdown on the random status effect then use freeze as much as i can. The enemies could barely do anything to me and what little damage they did do, I'd instantly heal up. The poor cowboy managed to get his draw 2 6's but it failed because the random effect happened to be a curse, the man could do nothing
I wonder if he's gonna figure out this game has a story behind it
Bump first, duplicate after, get extra damage.
