@@chrissowders6005 I was 14 or 15 when they closed, I always wished I could go to the studio in Memphis to see the show live, even though I never experience it live it was a big part of my childhood memories getting to watch on tv. We also had Smokey Mountain on our local channel too which I really enjoyed! Honestly more than WWF and WCW at the time. I can’t get into the product today at all unfortunately.

I got to see the last year of USWA on one of those little syndicated stations, and loved it. But I do remember just a blank screen with the episode number during some of the commercial breaks.

It had to be a treat for Lawler. Dude loves art and collecting pieces so to get a peak into that inner sanctum must have been pretty exciting.

Alright so listening to this made me remember this When I was in High school (so this would be around Freshman/Sophomore year) one of the local channels we had was WGTW 48 which is now a TBN affiliate I think. Well I want to say it was during the summer (maybe even after that) that they showed an episode of USWA Championship Wrestling and the thing I actually remember (and the clip is on youtube) is that it was the episode that Dundee and Lawler won the tag titles against Fire and Ice a.k.a. "The Cyberpunks". I THINK it was the only episode we got to see before the company went under...either that or the station got bought out by TBN but yeah...we had one of the stations that aired USWA but it wasn't the only company cos one of the other ones was one of Lawler's "favorites" in ECW...GOOD TIMES!

I was listening to Jim Cornette and Brian Last talk about selling territories. They mentioned sometimes promoters would sell to a rich sucker, wait till they went out of business because they knew nothing about wrestling, then start the territory back up themselves.

I don't know if this has been covered yet but I wanted to ask about this I have seen the clip from a USWA show when Jerry had to come out and announce that Saturday Morning wrestling was done for the company and I wondered if this incident came before or after that because I remember that they were doing wrestling shows after that at Midnight briefly (and before the company closed I think the Southern title was reinstated) but my main question would be did the incident with the gun happen before or after that announcement and then for the final show when the matchmaker (I think his name last name was Beard) got chased out of one of the tape rooms by a manager I think that was the final ever scene from the company but am I wrong there? Also since I know Jerry had to go to Dallas to defend the Unified title I'd love to know what he thought of Marc Lowrance...that'd be an interesting question for him I think

Even near New Orleans I got to see USWA and it would sit on UPN network I think it was like 1 in the morning Saturday or something. After about 1998 it vanished without really knowing where it went and out came power pro which was just a shell. It went how wcw went where it came down to mid card talent becoming title holders or old cast offs from the wwf.

I always felt like they should have expanded their territory more. The USWA/WCCW merger was a good idea that helped them get into Texas and Oklahoma, but after that failed--how about at least expanding into markets like Little Rock, St Louis, Cincinatti, or Indianapolis? Its not like going on a world tour---just a little further outside of Memphis, but you wouldn't be invading anyone else's territory, because in 1995, there were no more territories

I watched the inception of the USWA on ESPN with the merger of CWA and WCWA or WCCW up until Joe Pedicino's Global Wrestling Federation took over the timeslot. I kept up with the USWA in the remaining years of its existence but sadly not firsthand. I remember The Truth Commission was a much bigger deal in Memphis than on WWF TV and that angle main evented for a few years seemingly. Sad it went down how it did and how they conned Selker.

I knew he was an Indians fan but its funny now knowing hes a Browns fan and he did that. I also saw him in a great match with Razor Ramon at a houseshow at the old Richfield Coliseum. i was so young but if youre from Akron you remember Richfileld Im sure
