    Without knowing this program is exactly what the world needed, we see all these gay programs that idolise and fabricate this idea of the gay agenda when in reality it’s really not what it all seems out to be. As an openly gay guy who’s trying to navigate the world and create a future this truly inspires and motivates me that my future in fact can be bright. Not only that as an aspiring actor/writer it’s sparked a million and one ideas for me to carry on the legacy that this show has started. A massive well done to everyone involved but an even bigger thank you. Will never stop ranting and raving about this show ❤

    A pitch perfect enraptured performance here, the measure of this very fine Welshman. No slide to the top note - he hits it spot on, such immaculate intonation. What a glorious heart-wrenching performance all round. But a few questions remain. Who wrote this gorgeous song?❤ Will there be any covers down the line? Most importantly - will this superb delivery be a launch pad for the hugely talented Sion Young in musical theatre? This man can sing, alongside his gifted versatile acting.

    LOST BOYS & FAIRIES You probably think I'll miss you, but I won’t. You probably think I hide my hurt inside, but I don't. So many people come and go, I find it best to let them go, as soon as they're gone. Remembering’s only there to make you sad. They say it hurts your insides, when you miss the things you've had. Well, I don't cry ‘cause l've no love inside of me l'm foot loose, no memories to tie me down - I'm free - but Sometimes, I wonder, what happened - to those with whom I shared adventures. Those pirates, and lost boys, and fairies. And sometimes those wond’rings, they give me the strangest of feelings, Fleeting moments in my mind, of those ‘once upon a times’, long ago. Oh where did all the lost boys go? Somewhere, I'll never know. Those, pirates, and lost boys, and fairies. Where are we?

    @@gardenparty1000 The boy was removed from his mother, who was in an abusive relationship but loved her child dearly, and given to a relapsing drug and alcohol addict who continually went off the rails with the merest challenges outside his comfort zone. He was jealous the boy liked his partner more than him. He unforgivably snapped at the boy when he was kicking the ball at him - that should have been game over given the boy’s history - and did nothing but exhibit immaturity, dangerous self-destructive behaviour and spiteful self-absorption throughout. Frankly, I wouldn’t have given this man care of a chihuahua let alone a child. It’s ludicrous to think he wouldn’t relapse down the line, yet social services fell over themselves to accommodate him. Yes, his childhood was bad, but that in no way justified how he treated his wonderful partner and particularly the child. Why not sink the resources into supporting Jake’s natural mother? Another example of the insidious privilege of identity over common sense humanity. On top of that, I found the musical numbers insensitive to the material.

  • @gardenparty1000

    @gardenparty1000

    @@TomRipley7350 Well it looks like we are viewing two different dramas. The script is almost autobiographical - from what we learn, the writer has gained much harmony and positivity with his own partner and their three adopted children. Most gay folk (actually forget the orientation) enter into relationships with heaps of baggage (Elton John had addiction issues before he adopted which doesn't make him a bad parent). No question, the lead Gabriel is a deeply flawed character, which is beautifully presented by the straight actor Sion Young. Maybe I'm a soppy Old Goat, but the relationship portrayed is a profoundly romantic one. There's so much nuance, a touch, a glance, a smile, the tenderness which we are privy to, between him and his partner (stable, secure, decent, loving, level-headed), alongside the complexities of their partnership and their journey into parenthood. Your angry comment "unforgivably snapped at the boy" is strangely misplaced. The youngster was pushing his luck and setting his own boundaries and agenda - their worlds colliding head-on - and I'm of a generation (at 74, probably twice your age) when a good ticking off did no-one much harm. Actually I think this was the most pivotal scene to date and a turning point in their relationship. I can't wait for the final episode to see how it all unfolds, for better, for worse. We both want a happy ending, don't we? However, your final comment is bonkers! Have another go in a calmer frame of mind. The 4 big anthems "Lost Boy & Fairies", Cass Elliot's "Its Getting Better", "Come What May", and "Where Do You Go To My Lovely", are all perfectly judged for the occasion, and if you can find but one insensitive word in any of their lyrics, then I would like to know.❤❤ You weren't expecting the latest Taylor Swift's angst, were you? Surely not!

  • @TomRipley7350

    @TomRipley7350

    @@gardenparty1000 Yes, we were watching two different dramas. I watched one where a narcissistic, self-absorbed man in charge of a child triggered the trauma response from which the child was supposedly being rescued, the trauma his foster parent had taken great love and attention to psychologically heal him. There’s a difference between admonishing a child and setting boundaries and plunging him back into the hellscape from which he escaped. Again, that is where he lost all support as a character. His background is zero excuse for his actions, both with the child and the abuse of his partner, a decent man who we have all seen in gay relationships whose good nature is taken for granted by a malignant narcissist who plays the victim because he had it rough as a kid and expects every need to be pandered to and every self-induced crisis excused. He was an abused caretaker whose death was trivialised. He was the only reason Jake should have been placed with that couple. The guy who lived was a disastrous role model to a child, no stable career with substance abuse issues and wanted a girl like he was choosing a doll. Again, Jake’s mother obviously loved him and both she and Jake would have benefited from the support social services tripped over themselves to offer to the walking disaster. As for the musical numbers, they were unnecessary full stop, a jarring and inappropriate indulgence, not surprising as that was the theme of this show. Indulge the car-crash of a main character because of his identity.

It would be very strange if there wasn't any LGBTQ+ people in this program 🤣 no doubt your going to say your talking generally, well go and write on those programs its obvious what this program is about and the people its about so obviously its going to have LGBTQ+ people in it and just because you say having LGBTQ+ people in a program adds nothing to the storyline doesn't mean that's true for everyone. Representation on TV and in movies matters, given the high suicide rate of trans and other LGBTQ+ people around the world, if having some represenation helps people feel less alone and so they don't end their life the thats a great thing. For decades British TV hasn't had represenation of all ethnicities, genders or orientation even now they might have one gay guy so it hasn't moved on from the 1980s and eastenders was seen as ground breaking for having a gay couple. I’m just against the intentional OVER REPRESENTATION of minority groups for political purposes. I’m also against poor writing. It is a cardinal rule of good writing that every detail included in a story should bear relevance to the plot so as to avoid superfluous detail. Dwarfs are in a minority. Imagine if 25% of all characters on TV programmes were dwarves and the fact they are dwarves was never explicitly commented upon or bore any relevance to the story. Wouldn’t it look a bit strange that dwarves were so overrepresented?
