I have the AE-7 and Sennheiser headphones and I love the combo too . Audio is extremely important, so a soundcard is mandatory for me. Cheers

I have Realtek LC4082 paired with an ESS 9018 DAC onboard, the AE-7 from my last build I have to say that the quality of both are on par with each other as far as home theater but for headsets the built in audio DAC is much better I used an oscilloscope on the signals either option is excellent

I use a sound card if only to get away from the confusion of the audio drivers and which sound device in windows to turn on or disable to get sound to work in the first place now I just select sound blaster and if ya want you can disable everything else but yeah it’s so easy ya just plug and go and also it’s a lot louder by a lot

This is the review I've been looking for. Sound cards are somewhat rare to have on a PC these days, and I find myself doubtful when comes to upgrade my very very old ASUS soundcard from 2012 to AE-7. Thanks a lot for your honest comments and review.

2:11 same is true if you are using Optical out - it's just a pass-through and your receiver's or active speakers' DAC will be processing the sound and decoding any multi-channel sound that is being sent out.

I'm still using my old Sound Blaster ZxR to this day. If it dies I will probably replace it with an AE-7 or AE-9.

I do pair this soundcard for my Logi Z906 and my sennheiser hd 6xx cos the headset need amp. The DTS & Dolby Encoded well. Between my onboard soundcard Vs AE-7, i make full jump to sound quality by changing the default cable from Logitech and i'm adding the tweeter also. You must experience trial & error to get the significant result. Changing hardware and some tweak in application that you use to watch movie or hear music. Quite an Eargasm.... pairing this AE-7 with Sennheiser HD 6xx.

If I were you, I would drop the digital optical connection. This board was made for analog connection. I use my AE-7 with the z607. And I get 5.1 lossless 32bits/96Hz. The quality is absurd!

@@laiyunieyanto Need to have all RCA vs P2 cables connected correctly and select 5.1. Here I use 3 RCA cables vs P2 on the z607. Then 5.1 works fine. You have to see how to do it on the z906. It's very worth it!

@@tiagoamaral2371 i try analog. My opinion is "digital sound" in my z906 still sound better, coz it's encoded in dolby or dts. Z906 have built in decoder, if i dont use it, its a waste of money.

Yea. That new PC is dope! I'm not really a sound guy. But I can't wait to see a video on that PC!

Does this sound card also have support for Yamaha's OPL FM synthesis like Adlib cards?

Weird that this just popped up today. I have dt990s and using my asus prime b550 onboard audio. Have been debating if I should get this. Guess it's a sign.

I personally think there would be an improvement for you with those headphones.

I get alot of bleed through/feedback between headphone and mic channels. With and without the provided dial knob... how about you?

i love building amplifier kits. but my biggest shortcoming is finding a good preamp, especially for theatre sound. some pc sound cards have discrete 5 or 7 channel audio, and because separate multi channel pre-amps are expensive and hard to find, i think a pc sound card has a future for diy audio fans. i would love to see more PC sound card content, especially with cheap high performance class D monoblocks from companies like fosi.

For better sound you must change to high definition driver over nvidia high definition driver.

@squeezemaster1064 don't use this sound card if you use a wireless headset, or a USB headset. Only use this if your headphones are wired with a 3.5mm connector

I want to buy this for gaming one of my friends recomended for me I have arctis 9 Steelseries and I have a high end PC would you say this is a nice addition and are my headsets good enough?

am use this card for years and give super sound with Z906 on my pc and drivers work good. onlye extr hub i dont like. right now am test my new asus rog strix z790-e gaming wifi i got today and see if i like onbord card or AE-7. to bad AE-9 i cant get any more :(

nice video my bro, i am looking for a soundcard for PC for my movie room, the pc specs are not that important it’s the audio path i have I’m trying to really get the most out of. I have a anthem MRX720 amp, going to paradigm signature series S6 , S8 and a S5 front with a SVS sub-woofer ( its huge) so i just am looking for THE best output i can get from a sound card for just 5.1 sound dominance ..

In all honesty, I'd do hdmi audio out of your video card and into the anthem, and let the anthem do all the soundcard work. Anthem is one of the best audio brands on the planet...that receiver is in a whole other realm. I have a few videos on using a home theater reciever with a pc.

You could try the external sound blaster x4! It has discrete 7.1 analogue outputs.

I dont have your ears so I can't tell you. Sound is very subjective. Those are some decent headphones so for me it would be worth it. Some ppl swear by soundcards and some people don't. It'll be up to you to experience it and decide if it's worth it. Use the soundcard a lot for a week, get used to it, and then go back to onboard and see if onboard is even bearable anymore. Decide, return it if you don't like it.
