ASOIAF is a phenomenal series. I devoured the five books in high school in under a month. Had ample time and energy then. I read in class. During lunch. At home. Have reread many times and i enjoy it every time. I love Martins prose, his subtle build ups, and the earned character arcs.

I recently finish the series for the first time and started watching HOD with my diehard fan of ASOIAF bf, I loved it and for the last month I've been watching channels dedicated to the series, books, and theories, you are the first woman I see reviewing it, and would love to see your POV on both book and tv series with more detail on the events.

I read the books back to back and loved them! But I understand why you wanted to take breaks between each book as each entry is humongous. I do believe it’s worth rereading these books though, as especially A Feast for Crows comes alive on a reread when you catch on so many of the intricate plot threads that take place in Dorne and the Iron Islands. Also, as a person who read the books before watching the show, I don’t think you need to watch the show as it dumbs down quite a bit of the material that takes place in the books. There are rumors we may see an announcement for Winds of Winter soon! Are you looking forward to it?

Yes I loved the books too, you're right that I needed to take breaks though because they're so huge! I would love to re-read them again, it'll be interesting to read them knowing what already happens. Thank you for your opinion on the show, I'll watch it because I feel left out knowing everybody else has watched it haha, but I know the books are much better. I'm very excited for any Winds of Winter announcement, we've been waiting long enough! Are you excited for it too?

@@BeckyDoesBlog Yes! If rumors are true that George will be announcing Winds after House of the Dragon Season 2, then I’ll be very excited! It’s been a book 13+ years in the making 😅

Get why u werent into feast but wasn't the character work like a 10 there too? Loved Jaime chapters next to Cersei chapters

These books are long but are so good that I fall right into them and I can pass HOURS without realizing it. I read them for the first time in 2012 and I’ve reread them once a year since. Hoping that each time I finish Dance, Winds of Winter will be released. 😂

Yes you're right, it's like a time warp when reading them as the hours pass by so quickly! Honestly I'm losing hope that Winds of Winter will ever be released haha

You mentioned that GRRM has released sample chapters of The Winds of Winter, do you have any plans on reading those? Also there's the Dunk & Egg short stories which are some of the best work he's published

Yes I want to read the sample chapters, I’m surprised I haven’t already to be honest! Ooh I’m very intrigued by the Dunk & Egg stories, I’ve heard little bits about them but it’s on my list to read so I’m looking forward to it

the dunk & egg book is great! some people read it between Storm & Feast, since that's when it was written, & Brienne is actually a descendant of Dunk!

@@ccorvid I’ve recently just finished reading the Dunk & Egg stories like a week ago haha and it was amazing, I enjoyed it from start to finish! I loved Dunk so it’s amazing to think that Brienne is a descendent of him, they have some character similarities which I like 😊

ive seen a couple GoT reactions now, but I don't think many of them have read the books first! I think most asoiaf book lovers decide not to watch the show, or only watch clips, so it'll be interesting to see the videos you put out! doing a reread and watch through around same time could be fun haha

@@ccorvid That’s a great idea, watching the show alongside rereading would be so interesting to see the comparisons! I’m glad I’ve read the whole book series first before watching the show because I feel like a lot of people do it the other way round 😆

You say he doesn't release books quickly, but the first three were published from 1996 to 2000. It's since the Clinton administration that he slowed down, only publishing 3 Bran chapters in the decades since.

Just finished the first book. So f***ing good. And then I’m reminded the series is unfinished and will most likely stay unfinished 😔
