Thing is, when aegon went to conquer dorne in argon’s conquests. There was supposedly already technology to take down dragons. The scorpion bows that was used to kill one of the dragons by aegons sister wives (viseyna I believe). Which is how viseyna got captured and everything is speculation but it’s said the prince of dorne at the time sent a letter to aegon, wasn’t confirmed what was said in the letter but theory is the prince of dorne negotiated with aegon that the prince has viseyna locked up being tortured and offered to end her life for a truce. It’s been years since I’ve gotten into the got lore, so forgive me if stuff I said was inaccurate or just false
