Thanks, Doc. I did comment this to you on your video on the Milwaukee. I can't get the Mecworks in Australia 😢

Found the "TOOLAN: 8-In-1 Multi Blades Hand Saw" online for $18.98 recently. Hold securely 8 different blades. Large recip blades, small jigsaw blades, and hack saw blades. Seems pretty solid so far.

You should give the Performance Tool W729 2-in-1 Multi-Function Hand Saw & Screwdriver. It holds and locks reciprocating saw blades and hex bits. Even has hex bit storage in the handle. Really effective multi-purpose tool. Great for a tool kit bag.

Snap-on HS50 or Armstrong 70-046 equivalent was my solution 🙂

for this tool i just buy the replacement part for the reciprocating saw blade holder, cut the excess off and make a handle out of heat-moldable plastic. The problem is that you my fail at designing a good handle for the first few tries

I started with a Stanley which I had to modify to keep the blade from pulling out I have the Stanley Dowel Pin saw which has the same handle but different color I like these because they're light weight those multipurpose General/Craftsman file handle blade holders didn't work well either but they're also a bit heavier I ended up with a Snap-On which has the pin to lock the blade but that was back in the days when I could somewhat afford Snap-On and this thing is beefy and a bit heavy today I find no good Reciprocating Saw Blade handles today I have found no good blade handles that MecWork... interesting to see how it works in the long run...

Very simply put: I almost went for one of these handles, however the deal breaker (for me) is the blade length. Because for manual hand work / labor you really benefit much more from a longer blade length, to get a longer stroke. And sawzall blades are designed much shorter, the length of a junior hacksaw. Which is 100% fine for a motorized too (in fact preferred). But then your video today gives a great idea from that critique: Look because what we really desperately need for these manual handles is a way to combine 2 or 3 individual sawzall blades in a line. So with a strong and robust metal carrier frame, to retain to a high degree of strength and precision the blades along a channel or something simple. Then you could have 2-3 butted together. To make a tool (that can be assembled), and then works really well for manual sawing. Although I suppose the carrier frame would then be some bulk added to these blades to prevent deeper cuts. This is a drawback, unless it can be made really slim somehow (like a folded channel of stainless steel, that is very thin where it grabs and encompasses the sawzall blades). So that is not perfect / ideal solution. Just an idea to mitigate or reduce those shallow cut depth issue to some degree. But the other thing is those sawzall blades also probably need to be hand ground down a bit near the shaft end. Such that the shape can fit flush to the next blades. I say this because you cannot butt 2 blades facing directly opposite each other. Because then the cutting direction of the teeth becomes reversed at those midpoint butted location. Which occurs halfway up the entire length.

You’re talking about a Ryobi saw now. Or a regular hack saw.

I thought the Milwaukee folding blade saw replaced the fixed handle. I still use the Snap-on fixed handle that I have had for over 30 years and it has never failed.

Got a TOOLAN 8-In-1, they really don't have any play on the blade.
