@@AnastasiaMily Stunning. My effort looked chunky and cobbled together. How many years does water and pigment mastery require? l should live so long. 😭 And you did this without a photo reference? Thanks for the inspiration. I loved it despite my initial "failure", for the mistakes l hope to learn from, such as not overworking. P.S. ls there a Sodalite substitute? My research indicated it can range from gray to blue.

@@Bearwithme560 Thank you - I am glad you have learned things from this video despite not being 100% happy with your result. It is perfectly fine! It all comes with practice. And about the years required... it's a hard one because we all have different amounts of time to be spent practicing. I've been painting on and off since I was a child, but have been doing it almost daily over the last three to four years. The beauty of this journey is that we are always learning something new! I used reference photos in the past but now I tend to stay away from photos when I paint as I find they limit me and I start rendering instead of painting freely. I think French Ultramarine Blue mixed with a bit of Burnt Umber to "grey" it down a bit could work as a substitute for Sodalite as French Ultra has lovely granulation as well. Hope this helps!

You skillfully manage with tones, a pleasant combination of colors! I recently discovered watercolor and I'm trying out different styles. Question, at the beginning of your work, do you use a watercolor mask to get a clear outline of a snowy mountain? I see how the paint is pouring along the invisible border :)🥰
@AnastasiaMily
Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! How wonderful you are exploring all the different watercolour styles. It is such a magical medium to play with. I didn't use any masking for the mountain but I was careful not to place any water along its edge when I was applying the initial wash. If the paper stays dry the paint can't enter that area as it needs the water to spread on the surface. Hope this helps!
I love your style! Do you use reference photos? I wish I had more nature scenes in my head to choose from!

Thank you so much! I mostly paint from my imagination, including this painting. I do use my own photos occasionally, and I used to paint from photos. The more you paint, the bigger you “visual vocabulary” grows, so at this stage it is easier for me to paint from imagination, unless I want to paint a particular view.
Did you throw salt on the sky on the left? Or just splattered water? Looked like water to me, but the effect looks like salt. This is beautiful. Thank you for painting to music, but giving great instructions, too.

It’s just water splatters. No salt. Glad you enjoyed the video - thank you for watching😊
Beautiful piece! How long did the actual process take to produce this? Time lapse and condensed filming does not do justice to the work which is required. Thank you for sharing!!!

I am in a watercolor class at our library. We take turns teaching if our teacher can’t come. May I use a picture of this project as a sample for our class to try to paint? I am also asking about another great scene. I will use your name. Thank you
