Thank you for that footage. I was waiting for a close up of the northern fumaroles. The cone looks like its steadily building it's own lid as its winds down

Awesome footage. It gives perspective to what we’ve been seeing on the outside of the cone.. it all makes sense now or as much sense as a volcano can make

Very cool. The bird`s eye view confirms what I thought was going on in the crater. You could see the lava spitting out from one small spot and not throw showers of lava from the pool that was there. Its just shrinking now and may burn out here in the near future.

I’m assuming this is due to the flow of lava slowing?

  • @teardowndan5364

My guess is the lava egress is still mostly the same, it is just flowing directly under the surface lava rock. If I'm right, satellite elevation maps will show that the lava rock is still rising despite having no more directly observable flow.

@@teardowndan5364 The GPS graphs have been showing increased elevation and filling of the magma chamber for weeks. It's just a waiting game now to see when it reaches full pressure and where/if it erupts in relation to the ongoing eruption.

@@jeanettefunderburg166 Yes, the GPS stations installed on the ground are rising and approaching their highest estimated volume so far but that isn't what I was talking about. I'm talking about the volcano "dying out" because most of the lava is flowing into the lava field under the volcanic rock surface instead of out through the cone. AFAIK, there are no GPS stations on the lava field itself to monitor that. My theory is that the volcano is "dying down" because most of the fresh lava is flowing into the lava field instead of up the cone. The footage showed gas plumes at multiple locations around the volcano. Lava and gasses are still moving under there.

Busier inside than I thought. From live cams it looks that it's dying but these shots show it might not. But surely the crater has now the proper shape to put a big pan on it and fry slowly a whale or two.
