Gary, I absolutely love the way you teach, and these visual aids are SPOT ON, they really help with memory recall especially with the colors . I found you on KZread, and it instantly resonated with me so I bought your online course "Soloing for complete beginners" - I'm about 25% through and loving it. Im a Brit in the UK. Thanks a lot :-)

@@PowMusic Hi Gary, just one 'ask'. [This is positive & constructive feedback from a very grateful customer :-) ].... The colors for each Shape are really helpful as they stick in your head and help recall the patterns quickly. However I noticed that the colors of the shapes you used on this video are different to the colors on the other PDF "The 5 Shapes of the Pentatonic Scale" (which is now in my head) so it starts to confuse things a bit. It would be a great benefit to stick to the same colors in every visual aid. This consistency would benefit everyone and avoid unnecessary re-learning (or mental adjustment). Thanks again. you're awesome !

@@tobyhallam4750 on mine they're the same color. Each shape is a certain color. Shape 1 is blue, 2 purple and so on. it confuses my daughter when shape 1 is in different spots for each key.

Why the hell after spending the last two years getting back into playing hours a day and searching non stop for stuff like this have I never once found this until this week ??! This is exactly what intermediate to advanced players need to fill in gaps and assemble all the pieces of the puzzle.

There are so many CAGED method courses that spend forever teaching the pentatonic shapes. This gets you nowhere with playing actual music - it just leaves you sounding like you're practicing playing scales. This literally and figuratively connected the dots after months of memorizing shapes and now I can play solos people want to listen to. I feel like it's a key insight to getting to intermediate level guitar and no one is teaching it like this. You are a true master.

Ok, I don't wanna be overly dramatic here, but I've been playing guitar for over 40 years, mostly as a lead player. I know scales out the whazoo but have been trapped in those "scales"(boxes) for years. In fact, even though I'm told I'm pretty good, I BORE MYSELF WITH MY SOLOING !!! However, there is something about the way you have organized the "shapes" (boxes) that has just opened my eyes and ears to traveling the neck without so much thinking and I'm now riff'in all over the place. So thank you VERY much.........and to whomever may think Im getting paid to say this.....no way. Just awesome lessons.

I'm a beginner, and still get stuck on scales. But you just taught me something right at the start, with the 2x2 cells. Just like you move a note ... down 2 strings, down 2 frets ... you move the boxes the same way. And the same thing happens when you cross the B string, 2 strings, 3 frets. Eureka ! The boxes move the same way. 😯

The sign of a great teacher is making something complex, approachable. Good job. Sometimes I wonder if there's a lack of teaching skills from other guitarists, or just plain greed to keep what they've learned to themselves. I've played guitar for a long time, but this is a game changer in the way to view the fretboard and scales. Thank you!
