Geodetic surveying is a process of surveying by considering the curvature or spherical shape of the earth. Plane surveyors and geodetic surveyors work from the same benchmarks. How do you reconcile this fact?

Datum is a position of spheroid or ellipsoid.

+Yue DOU Well a datum is (mostly) a best suited ellipsoid as compared to the geoid for whatever region you are in. Overall a great explanation

Yes, I think so too. What I learned is that an 'Ellipsoid' is the mathematical model spoken about in the video, and a 'Datum' is what sets the origin point that relates the 'Ellipsoid' to the 'Geoid'. Dam, it does get confusing though.

@@lnopia no. Vetical and horizongal data is what makes the ellepsoid not an ellepsoid, since our Earth is not an ellepsoid.

A level surface has no slope. Nothing hypothetical about that

The earth is an ellipsoid. THE TRUTH IS OUT. nasa(t)-sa(t)an removed it's t and placed it on our plane(plane(t)). We never went to the moon etc. etc. don't care but it's true
