What are Geodetic Datums?
Ғылым және технология
In this video we explain the basic concepts behind geodetic datums, where they are used, and why it is important to know about and use the correct datums.

That was a really well put together video. Thanks for sharing
Great video, thank you for sharing the info :)
very informative and simply put
Muy bien explicado. Muchas gracias.
Very nice and informative presentation.
great tutorial, thank you
Great! very good lesson.
Great video 👍 really thank you
great tutorial...
great...dude
Can you make videos like this about WGS84?
Thank you
Good one
Could you please tell me which software do you use to make these kind of animations? Thanks in advance

Our graphic designer uses 3D Studio Max for 3 dimensional work such as this.

Hi geodesist .. Make like
I guess I understood half of what's explained 👀
For me i dont believe if the earth is Geoid because we could not predict its real shale we cannot see its whole form only god can know it or if you read our Bible the shape of was written on the bible Bible dont say about the shape but it describing its forms like a Tent that you can stretch that's why i Believe In all information that was all In The Bible❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I dislike about this explanation that it ommits and ignores such thing as geoid vs elipsoid where the datum is the instrument which tries to overcome the difference between them.
Flat earth lunatics should watch this and learn something, the earth is a globe.

It's flat until you come to the corners ... ;-) Also flat is a relative term.

Plane surveying is the process of surveying by assuming that the earth is flat. Which means the curvature or spherical shape of the earth is not considered in plane surveying calculations. Geodetic surveying is a process of surveying by considering the curvature or spherical shape of the earth. Plane surveyors and geodetic surveyors work from the same benchmarks. Something doesn't seem right. How do you reconcile it.

The plane survey will accumulate errors that are manageable at small scale but unusable on large area.

These benchmarks are usually established by geodetic surveying approach for accuracy however, such benchmarks can be used for plane surveying over small area where the accumulated errors and distortions are negligible considering the accuracy expectation of such surveying which are mostly third order surveys.
Thank you
