    Neem oil one teaspoon, half teaspoon soap liquid, and a quart of warm water shake well and spray on your plants to get rid of the bugs, it’s organic and doesn’t harm anything except the bugs, spray every three days, make fresh every three days as it looses its strength. It worked wonders for our garden. I love your videos chad, keep it up.

I was happy when Tango was found near the Catio 2 days after she was gone. I was worried that she had got eaten by predators like the other cats a long time ago. Besides that I am also excited to see the pigs, rabbits and your turkeys again because I haven't seen them in a while.

To reduce the amount of water getting into the duck area i think a good cheap and easy alternative would be to put a tarp up on the top of the top of the duck house! Its not the most aesthetically pleasing solution, but it could be a good quick and inexpensive way of fixing your problem until you think of something else! I cant wait for the sawmill video!!! I've mentioned it once before, but just wondering if you could install a cat door on the wood of the cat house? The reason being is because you can get ones you program to become "entry only" at a certain time and can be synced to a microchip if your cat's have them or a collar tag. This means if you can't wrangle up one, they can enter at their own will anytime, but no other animal can and it's set to not allow any to exit if you set for the night.

  • @HiddenSpringFarm

    I’ll have to look into it. Fozzy, Tango, Maggie & Bubbles are not microchipped. Dexter, Chunk and Mango are microchipped as that’s done during the neutering. Not sure got that type of door work but it’s definitely something to look into.

    What about putting concrete in the duck house? If you used a more water heavy mix for that smooth soft/polished finish look. Wouldn’t hurt the ducks would also be cool if you make a “ditch” outline similar to what you see wooden cutting board/meat board to stop the juice runoff. That way you can just pressure wash it out periodically. And any rain would run off.

    You really think it’ll be easy to clean off rocks? How? Spray with more water? Not sure if that’ll work long term. I’m sure if I’ll put gravel it’ll look nice for a while but after years probably not. Maybe patio paver stones could be an idea, then I could power wash it clean.

    Happy 4th to our neighbors to the south. I agree with you Chad, all your videos should go viral. I believe I have another 30 or so to watch. That way, I can say I've watched them all😂 I am really amazed with you and your darlings gardens. 🍓 s let's talk about them. About 6 years ago I bought 6 plants from the kids in the neighborhood for their school. Anyhow, this spring, I cleaned them out to keep 50 plants....I gave away over 1000 plants. Can you imagine! Does your farm accept RVs? My daughters are traveling across Canada coming in August. They want to stop to see you and the farm. I wish I could as well, but too far for me to drive . Well, it's a long enough comment, I could go on..just about bugs lol

    🇦🇺With the Duck run you could use clear corrugated plastic on the roof and gravel and pebbles that allow rain to drain down and out if there’s drainage leading out from the run. You could eat geese or sell dressed goose. Alternatively food for the dog and cats. Less food to buy. One way to save money.

    I'm trying to talk my husband into going up there for our 25th anniversary next June… I’ve always wanted to Ted to see Niagara Falls and I to,d him that your place is just a stone's throw a way from there… I'm in Oklahoma, so getting up that far North like that will be a once in a lifetime opportunity for me….

    That would be a nice celebration. I always love going to Niagara, so much to see and do. Oklahoma is far though but we’ve driven from Toronto down to Arkansas and over to California then up to Oregon then back to Toronto but we did it over a few weeks and visited so many places along the way. My wife’s sister is in California so that was the reason for the trip but we made a whole tour of it. Grand Canyon was a highlight, so was the pacific coast highway.

I love taking trips like that… I used to toss camping supplies into the back of my pickup and take off on long drives just to see the country… I’ve driven to every state in the union except for Hawaii of course…. It's the only state I have never been to… Yes, we will drive up to Niagara well if we go… make a big circle tour up around the Great Lakes… take about 2 maybe 3 weeks and just drive…

    Have you thought of turf artificial grass fot the duck run?

  • @HiddenSpringFarm

    @HiddenSpringFarm

    21 күн бұрын

    No, my first thought is that would need to be cleaned everyday so it’s not practical. The real issue is that the structure doesn’t have a solid proper roof so every time it rains the water sits.

    For the duck run, why not consider trying to lay down that fake grass which would cover the dirt. It would look real and look pretty good. I don't think it would harm the ducks.

  • @HiddenSpringFarm

    @HiddenSpringFarm

    20 күн бұрын

    I’m sure it would look great too…for a few weeks. It’d just get covered in greasy duck poop, I think the best solution is to build a proper covered roof so it doesn’t get so wet in there. We don’t have this issue in any other animal run cause they all have roofs.

    Hi! How do you guys keep the duck pond with the fountain clean? I'd love to do something like that for some ducks one day but how do you keep the fluffy little guys from constantly swimming in their own droppings 😅? Definitely will let them free range in the orchard and use the kiddie pools for fertilizer. That's brilliant!

    Thing is I made the pond 4’ deep so there’s a little of water to dilute the poop. But I will eventually do a video on how it’s been doing, cleaning etc as of right now the water is still looking ok just green from algae bloom.

    I think you should clear out the duckybunky run… then lay yourself down a cement pad… you would be able to just hose it off when It gets "mucky….

  • @HiddenSpringFarm

    That would work for sure, expensive though. I’m thinking if I make an actual roof instead of planks then it won’t get so wet in there. Or maybe horse stall rubber mats would be more economical.

    @@HiddenSpringFarm you know what? Those rubber mats are a dang good idea! I completely forgot about those! Just don’t put them Your chicken coop lol… between the chickens scratching and the rats chewing, that wouldn’t be a bad idea.,,, but for the ducky bunky floor, yeah, I think that would work! You could still spray it off!

    Hey Chad! I hope your day is going well for you 😊. Regarding the duck run...there are various types of materials used for this very purpose. It depends on many variables of course: cost, time, labour and safety for you and them. The best case scenario would be a non-slip, non-absorbant flooring, that is easy to clean, and doesn't cause more trouble for little duck feet, or your feet either. My first thought is a wooden bottom with linoleum on top and sealed well with rounded corners for easy cleaning. My second thought is a heavily shellaced layer on top of the wood flooring. My 3rd thought is asphalt, or cement, for easy cleaning. You can't go wrong there, although these materials aren't slippery at all, which could cause other problems. I don't think you can get away without a solid base that will help you. A surface too rough is almost impossible to clean, but trial and error will answer your question. Easy clean helps daddy's dream. Hahaha...😉

    Also, just a woman's perspective for added coziness and decor, would be string lights, inside the cats shed, in strategic places outside as well. Maybe lighted signs. Also having little decorative signs for your garden identification. Lights strung across anywhere is quite popular. Maybe having little signage directions for visitors to tour the place in the order you prefer them to see it. Sign poles for each building, and maybe written instructions about what the visitors can do at each one. Information about the animals. You could have scavenger hunts for kids. Just keep simple items they have to find in certain places. A little one page map that visitors can follow to see all your creations. 😉
