A Serious Runner Tapers
Ойын-сауық
As a #seriousrunner tapering for a marathon is something that I take very seriously. If you've been wondering how to taper for a marathon, a serious runner will show you the way.
Perhaps you have questions like: how much should I run during a taper? should I do a caffeine fast before a marathon? or how to carb load before a race? how do you approach marathon taper nutrition? how often should you check the weather report? what sort of marathon taper workouts should you do? how much sleep to get in the final week?
It's better to go into a race rested than to go into a race over-trained. So enjoy these marathon training tips for the taper! Get those legs up, turn on the breaking2 replay, do NOT brew any coffee, eat a bagel or two, and have a watch!

As someone in the middle of a taper, I am both personally offended and laughing… that’s how you know it was a good serious runner video!
I love the Sage cameos. The visualization part was awesome!
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite running series on KZread. I feel called out half of the time, but that’s what makes it so funny. Awesome content as always man!
The best serious runner yet IMO.
The Serious Sage. 2 for the price of one. Tremendous content.

"What's your name again?" "Sure, it's spelled: Hi,-Coach-Sage-Cannaday-here,-hoke-one-one-athlete-for-another-training-talk."
Hey! I’m the guy (or at least one of them) that said “good luck Serious Runner” at the start! Hope you had a great race!
my students will love this! I have been teaching them about visualisation ... you nail it!
I wish I had thought of this before you. You’re a legend dude.
Having excuses lined up is the key to a proper taper in my books. I like to vague post about potential injuries just in case my race sucks. Also pretending like I didn't seriously train is good for lowering expectations.
new sub here :) I just started running this year and have my 11th race coming up next week. I'm super hype for it and glad I found this. Found out at the age of 41I love to run, and been doing it every day now for 8 months!
I've always wondered why anyone posts anything about their training online. Honestly no one cares what you do. These videos are awesome!
“Goodnight, Kipchoge.” OMG I’m dying over here 😂
Great content Stephen! I just ran my first half marathon a week ago (humble brag) and I was looking for content to help me train to improve... Your channel is perfect! Good info. with a dash of comedy...couldn't ask for more! 😅

"What was your name again?" Hahaha! Great job exposing the 'truth' behind a serious runner ;-) Too funny!
Yet more solid gold. I have very few running friends, so it's great to see we runners all share certain things. And I'm so glad you snarked at caffeine deprivation! 😆

Not only would I not be able to keep my job, but my husband would be hobby jogging right out the door!

@@laurainthehaute918 🤣 😂 I think my husband's hobby jog away would probably look more like battling Kipchoge for the win at Boston's little springtime event, what's that called again?? 😆 And he doesn't even run... but he sure does make my coffee every morning!

gotta leave some things up to the imagination of the viewers. Like, what's in the briefcase in Pulp Fiction?
@Stephen Gnoza You totally need to do a video on a Serious Runner and traveling to a marathon AND a Serious Runner attending the expo. That would be epic! Great videos, keep it up.

Thanks for the suggestions! There is definitely going to be #content coming out of Boston... that could be a good way to set it up. Thanks!

Goodnight Kip! 😂
It's contagious! I just complained on Strava about left calf tightness after the first week of taper. Really, I felt something.

😂😂😂…can I have your autograph…sure, what’s your name again?!…
I feel attacked. 😂
LMAO-you nail every last detail of our collective silliness! This is the best laugh therapy. Yes, I’ve been making myself nuts watching the weather forecasts, which are wildly different on every site (from flash floods to perfect) and change practically every time I refresh. **Seriously (!)** it looks like winds out of the NE are the norm there, which means headwinds the whole way, and I’m seeing gusts up to 25 mph. What fun. Martha
I'm laughing so hard. There are some extremely germaphobic things that this "serious runner"would add this year in particular. It's necessary to run an air purifying machine if gathering in a room with household members, especially if one of them has cold symptoms. Avoiding them for 2 weeks before race just makes good sense.
That caffeine withdrawal headache from going off caffeine is for real painful.
I don’t know what my family would say if I had a picture of Kipchoge and not them 🤔🤔. Oh well, it’s tapper time. Long live Kipchoge, long live the BAA.
That pasta plate is not huge 🤣
Best yet! So much truth that you have no thumbs down....

@@TheSeriousRunner That's just crazy non-caffeinated taper talk. See ya in Boston, my foundation of laying excuses and doing my last long run way too hard is now complete!
"The hay is in the barn and... top off my glycogen stores" 😅
Great timing, I think most of the running community are tapering this week. This is so true….😀🏃🏻♂️👍
Haha this is genius.
Goodnight, Kipchoge.
Oh common. I'm skipping caffeine for 2 weeks before my first marathon Now I feel like an @ss! (also, I just noticed my phone auto corrected 2 to Z2! )😂😂😂
Can't have any excuses, taper hard.
You know it's serious if it includes caffeine fasting. That's just crazy Master's level!
