A Satisfying Day of CHATEAU RENOVATION + Stained Glass Restoration & Ukrainian Nettle Soup!

It’s a perfect and extremely satisfying day of renovations at the chateau, as Dan & I take control of the digger and the dumper to create the retaining boulder wall for the new garden behind the chapel, and the stained glass window restorer installs two newly renovated windows, including Saint Joseph. We also discover Ukrainian cuisine, as Pavlina teaches me how to make Green Borscht with stinging nettles!

Best thing you can do for your body once the nettles are cooked. Nettles are the highest source of protein from wild plants in the U.S. They contain 26% protein for the calories. They also contain: iron, calcium, magnesium, silicon, potassium, manganese zinc, copper, and chromium, vitamins A and B. Nettles are more nutritious than spinach, kale, or asparagus.

Nettles are very nutritious too! Apparently it was an important food in the early spring in previous centuries because the end of winter also meant the end of stores of food and it would have been months since fresh vitamin heavy foods had been available. It also supposedly helps stave off colds and flux, although I think that is simply due to the nutrient aspect.

A Great lot of varied video content today Stephanie, family and friends. You and Dan are doing an amazing job on the building the big rock wall , so well done. I just love the way that Amaury comes in all so calm, clever and humble and fixes the problems for you. Your château chapel stained glass windows are so, so beautiful. Just to have a chapel, of your own, let alone a chateau is just so wonderful and you look after them both with lots of pride and passion. Good on you Stephanie. I loved the way the video drifted into you and your lovely man Phillip having a wander and a glass of wine in the walled fruit and vegetable garden and then around the table sharing a meal with your visitor from the Ukraine, family and friends. Very generous and caring of you and your neighbours to help them out with refuge accomodation and thank you for a fun and interesting vlog!

We were told to crush the Jewel Weed leaves with our fingers and then to rub it on the affected area if we’ve been stung by the nettles. I have had the need so have not affirmed this.

The windows are gorgeous, but my favorite part of the chapel is the ceiling; the blue sky, the gold stars.

Stephanie, I am by no means a religious person but I truly appreciate the beauty of your chapel and think this is so appropriate as a calming place for anyone so inclined, especially visiting Ukrainians, to reflect, pray for peace and find some comfort. The green borscht soup was a revelation. Must try it.

I am enjoying the English garden build so much. When do you get to see a whole garden at a Chateau be created, and by the people themselves. I love Stephanie and her dumpster driving. We need to get you out with the future grounds projects now that we know you can do it. A blossoming renaissance woman you are. :) That was so kind to have the neighbors over hosting the refugee family(ies). Sad situation, but making them feel at home for something they have seen on KZread must have been a great joy to them. The flowering pears in a few years are going to be the centerpiece of the garden at this time of year. I lived on a street lined with them and it was so beautiful when in bloom and it was like snowing driving under them when the blossoms are ready to fall. The bees loving them so quickly after being planted means that everything they pollinate in your garden is just goin got do that much better. = with such rich food sources for them. The stained glass i the chapel left me speechless to have that in your own yard. How magnificent and to see the payoff of waiting years for them to progress this far. La Lande will be more glorious than originally when you are done because this time, instead of paid craftsmen just doing their jobs, it is being rebuilt with loving, caring people who a re putting their heart and souls into it. So special is it, that people around the world have pitched in their dollars, euros and whatever to help preserve this magnificent home. No one would have done any of this without your love and hard work to see the Chateau live on with the fun times and celebrations to balance with all the hard work and I am sure very tedious chores too. Your are a very special lady and I thank you for inviting us to peek into your world of wonderment and enjoy it with all of you.

Lot's of great progress and no major injuries- it's a win. In lieu of slippers, if wellies are too warm, time to break out the garden clogs from Cadeau! I love my Sloggers! Glad your Ukrainian guest is getting lots of support.

Is St Joseph holding lilies in the stained glass window ? Would it be lovely to plant a close match by the entrance to the chapel ? I feel he would like that 😁✨ and it would mark the completion of the windows 👏🏼 So lovely watching you &Dan chatting in the kitchen, so funny, only you could go out to drive a dumper in beautiful slippers 😂 and Phillip coming out to check on you and driving back- both looking so happy 😁 you really are all a source of much joy🤩 thank you for sharing 🌷💕🌷

I nearly peed in my pants when Dan suggested putting sticks on the digger to that marshmallows. Brilliant 🤣🤣🤣Thanks for sharing your joy and the beauty of your chateau 😍😘
