Nothing silly about the reaction to losing the hat. I'd be upset if I lost my cap on a ride. It's been all over the world with me. Keep up the outstanding work! You're an inspiration!

Sorry for your loss. Tip: Blue locktite for cycle fasteners serviceable but they don't come loose. Love your videos!

Your cinematography is top notch. In a world of content creators with GoPros and iPhones, I'm so happy you exist. So I can enjoy your beautiful visuals and also be inspired to up our game as well. Well done and looking forward to the rest of the series!!

We've all lost items on trips, mine was a camera, helmet and jacket left in a car that I hitched in to get a motorcycle part. Jumped out to fix the bike and forgot to grab items. Never found the car in freeway traffic. Thanks for sharing your trip!

Sorry to hear about your hat! Losing something of value to us is heart breaking. Had our moto and camping gear stolen from us overnight, the night before we were set out to go on a two week trip! 😭 But in the end, everyone was ok. You will find your next hat will bring you joy and the opportunity to fill it with memories as well 😊

My favorite part of Spring is seeing the new life appearing, all the blooms coming out and less layer on the bike lol. Your time lapse at your camp was beautiful. Sorry for your loss of your hat, some people just do not understand how an object can have such meaning to someone, we lost our house and everything to a fire and was so many things that cannot be replaced, which had no value except value to myself.

Great first episode! Thanks for letting me come visit you in Joshua Tree. I could tell you were exhausted and wanted to give you space to decompress after having a rough few days. That said, I was thankful for the short visit. Best thing about springtime is being outside on crisp cool mornings and feeling the warmth of the rising sun. If you add a great view with a desert bloom or mountain wild flowers that makes it extra special.

I always struggle a bit on the first couple days of a solo ride... I feel lonely, wonder why I'm not travelling in a group instead and fight the urge to just turn around... all things that I'm pretty sure are just a normal reaction to getting out of my comfort zone. BUT... once I'm over that hump all of a sudden the ride becomes so relaxing and enjoyable, by the end of the first week I'm in this travel zone that is just pure fun. Travelling with others can be fun too but it's always full of compromises and (at least for me) worry about the riders I'm with... am I pushing them to ride beyond their skill level, am I slowing them down... etc. Travelling solo I can ride exactly how I want, stay exactly where I want, pretty much do anything that strikes my fancy. Have fun on your adventure... and try to get lost at least a few times!

Judging from the comments we are all empathetic on the loss of your hat. I liked in the video last week where you said you hoped someone found it and it’s putting it to good use. I like to give objects like that a personality, a life. Like the saying “all the stories I could tell.” And now it’s going onto another life to learn new stories. End screen crew… Warm enough to ride comfortably. And the experience that non-riders don’t share, the smells! Wet ground after the rain, the smell of the ocean, the blossoms in the trees budding out in the spring, A Eucalyptus grove, or pine forest and the occasional cow pasture!

Sentimental items and attachments to them are so very important, and I felt that hard with you. 😢 I'm so glad things picked up after that. And, what a wonderful first episode! Always love the night time lapses. It was such a joy to have you in our home. You definitely made an impression on my girls, too. 🙏🏽 My favorite part about Spring is the warmer weather (sorry we didn't share any of that while you were here 🤷🏽‍♀) and the blossoms. Great opener for the series. I have been looking forward to this since you announced that you were doing another X country trip. Thank you for sharing the good and the bad of riding. I didn't lose my favorite hat but last year coming home from RMR6 I ran out of fuel on a 2 lane 80 MPH highway 5 miles outside of Arco ID in 105 degree heat. Semi trucks are scary at 80 MPH less than 2 feet from you. After I got the scooter on the center stand and moved myself 20 feet back from the road I sat down and cried. I was so overwhelmed by my thinking error that led to me running out of fuel, stranded and too disabled to walk to get fuel then carry the fuel back. That was my bad day. Not my best moment. So you have every right to feel as you did losing your hat and needing a moment to regroup. Your honesty is one of the reasons I love your content. Easy end screen crew question for me this time. Daffodils are my favorite part of spring. They come up so bright that it just makes me feel happy

Awesome video as usual Amanda. Bummer about your hat, know the feeling. A tip for adding accessories to your bike, I always replace any lock washers and std nuts with nyloc nuts. I do it whenever I fit a new gizmo to either of my bikes and so far not a single nyloc has come loose. And if you can't use a nyloc, I drill the nut sidewall and use lockwire to fix it to a suitable point. Sometimes another fastener nearby, or to a tag on the frame or engine. Especially useful on my Ducati. If lockwire isn't your thing, tighten the nut on the bolt then drill a small hole through both the nut and bolt/screw and fit a split pin through it.

Thanks for making this. I love your videos. The visuals, the cool graphics, the general fun vibe - its all something I aspire to with my own motovlogs. Also, that sucks about your hat! Not silly at all to stress over losing it. Hell, I’ve got a whole drawer of random trinkets from trips I’ve taken that have nothing but sentimental value; I’d be crushed if I lost any of them. Anywho, can’t wait to see the remainder of this series!

Been there. Actually WITH a Stetson!! That’s been years ago now. Tried replacing it several times. Just couldn’t be done. Something about the trails left behind and the stories that went with that hat absolutely feels like an entire life left behind. Miss that hat to this day!!!

Spring in Cali was always my favorite. That time when things are still green. and I am so sorry you lost your Stetson. 💔 I am with you on packing the bike. Doesn't seem to matter where or how little I have, It always takes longer to reload the bike in the morning. Loved Joshua Tree! There is something magical about the place. And the food.... PLEASE tell me you have done or will do a video on how to dehydrate/food saver your dinner. Will NEED that for when I head into the Outback.

I look forward to catching up on all your past videos and following your current adventure. And I am really sorry for the loss of your hat. I feel your pain. Hugs x

ngl it was a sudden but nice and relaxing shift to ASMR Amanda. Love hearing where you get your meal prep recipes! Fav part about spring is the beauty of forests as they begin to inhale and bud. It's like a visual representation of hopefulness and I get excited thinking about what summer might bring : )

Sorry to hear about the loss of the Stetson. Telling you I've been there more than once will probably not make you feel any better, but I hope telling you you're going to love your new one and the new memories it will bring you. Enjoy your ride. I look forward to seeing more of your adventure.

Favorite part about Spring is the excitement of all the newness. Can’t wait to go for my first proper Spring ride this Sunday. 67 degrees here in Mt. Shasta, CA. Woot! Awesome day 1 video, so sorry about the hat. I can totally relate. I loved seeing Joshua Tree, one of my fav places. I can’t wait to see the next videos. Thank you!

I totally understand your loss of your beloved hat. I hate loosing gear and the part of 'I lost that, wishing I knew where it is' as if was deprived of being able to give it a proper send off at end of use. I know it's all just-stuff, but it gets personality and character from the stains and scuffs over lots of trips and adventures with you.

Yeah losing things that have sentimental value is a lot tougher than a lot of people might admit. I've been working on trying not to let stuff like that get to me, because it's not great for you mental state, but that's easier said than done!

It totally sucks losing something sentimental. It definitely is not the big shiny expensive techy stuff that is hard to lose - it's the beaten up, faded, small things that we keep with us (mine is an old crappy tool roll with my mom's prayer card in it). But glad to see you bounced back. Joshua Tree looks amazing. Favorite Spring thing - the smell of the pine trees when I am ripping on the double tracks in the South Jersey Pine Barrens. :)
