Thanks for sharing this instructive video. My left hip is definitely tighter than my right. Following the exercises, I could immediately sit cross legged on the floor without my left hip feeling tense and uncomfortable.

For a very long time, my hip has felt like it's "out of place" - like if I could just pop it back into place it would feel better. I did this stretch in a couple of positions for 60 sec each and it immediately felt better! Really amazing. I'll continue to do this for a few days and try to remember to report back. Thanks for this video.

These exercises felt good! The external version felt like a pigeon stretch but slightly different, and I could feel on the internal version, that my right hip (which I've been trying to mobilise especially for the hip flexors and TFL) was tighter than the left. I'll put these exercises in my daily routine. Thanks Grant!

your stretching hip external rotators in external rotation because they can actually change their line of puil based on the degree of hip flexion at 60 - 90 degrees many hip muscles become internal rotators at 120 they are external rotators and reverse their line of pull again hips are weird

Hey mate! The good thing about stretches like these is you don’t have to get bogged down in wondering what specific muscle you’re stretching, you can base it all by feel!

Great video my left leg/hip have felt stuck for some time , i have been working on releasing hip flexors , glute activation ect hip mobilty work ect but still it remains stuck , how often a week should i try these to see if it restores hip mobility? and also could this be a cause of why i have a dullache whilst sitting in my piriformis area? i have ruled out disc issues, also i get a clicking in my left anterior side of my hips when i do certain mobility drills , guessing i.t band flicking over the greater trochanter. any advice would be highly appreciated as i have been battling this issue for over 2 years 6 months into treatments now , but still missing a piece of the puzzle ,

Hey mate! I can't give specific advice over the internet but clinically, if a person came in with tight hip flexors, and general hip dysfunction, I'd also be interested in assessing the mobility of their T10-L2 segments. It's can be slightly different for each person but I often find stiffness in those segments to be highly important. It might be worth having someone assess and treat those areas to see if they are also involved.

could a restricted hip my left side be causing butt pain on my left side when i sit ? that side also fells stuck locked compared to my good right side , cheers

In my case it was. Felt like I'd been kicked in the butt really hard and physio said it was due to hip problems, and hip problems due to incorrect sitting and walking position. It's all connected so you really do need a good professional to help you or you end up going round in circles. Hope you feel better soon x

My internal rotation is worse on one side, and that's the side that feels impinged (pinch at the front of the hip when doing a lying glute stretch). Does that mean I shouldn't be working on ER on that side, only IR? I don't want to make it worse.

It really depends on the individual's presentation. Ideally, we should be working on things that feel restricted as that's obviously abnormal. If both ER and IR feel restricted overall, then both theoretically could use some attention. If one doesn't, then you could mount a case; it's less likely to be a higher priority

Can i do it in hip avn (avasqular nacrosis)???

  • @YourWellnessNerd

It’s certainly something you need to discuss with someone who can assess you. It may not be the exercise someone with AVN needs to prioritise.
