It really isn't that hard to find used old production P226s for under 1000 bucks, I understand theres the appeal of them being new production and limited edition, but 1200 bucks is still pretty fucking steep for such a basic handgun

@@burmiester1 I like their P365-380 but other than that, I think they often miss the mark (pun intended) with quality or price. They mass produce for governments so they shouldn't have to charge so much and they price-lock/price-fix the retailers too. I greatly appreciate Beretta continuing to offer their lineup of old and new at good prices, including the imported models!

Not surprising since FN did the same thing with their re-imagined High Power. It's just frustrating that they could've spent less on the fancy packaging, manual, and grips to bring the price point down. As it stands now there's literally no reason to pick this over the Mk25 unless you absolutely can't stand having an accessory rail or you've got a ton of old P226 holsters that need to be filled.
@burmiester1
Ай бұрын
@@mmiski At least FN's new Hi-Power is a different design. This is a stock P226 without a rail. They couldn't even be bothered to recreate the old style parts like the takedown lever, mag release or two-dot sights. SIG basically expected to slap "retro" on a base model and charge what effectively amounts to full price. I'm not a Glock guy but Glock busted their ASSES to get the Gen 1 Classic G17 as close as they could do so while still being practical. They even recreated the flat extractor!
@libertylivesin1776

@mmiski The new FN version is a complete dumpster fire. Should have had a rail if going THAT direction. Total failure. On the other hand, the SA-35 from Springfield did it right. I worked at a shooting range from 2002-06 where we had a variety of rental guns. The P226 was the only gun that was more durable than Glocks. Our customers shot that thing so much that it did start having trouble and we sent it back. They pulled the breechblock out of the sheet-metal slide and replaced it and the gun worked fine again. We wore it out again and then I think SIG refused to fix it a second time, but that was still an epic amount of shooting through that thing.

The original stamped versions go for over $1200, but the milled stainless ones can be found for much less. It was the stamped slide that gave the original p225, p226, and p228 their great balanced feel. I have a handful of the pre-rail milled stainless Sigs and they really don't compare to the stamped predecessors' balance feel.

In 1995, I bought a brand new Sig P226 for a decent price and the slide has "West Germany" imprinted on it. It has a very smooth double action pull, compared to my much newer P226 Legion. This pistol is something I will keep forever and pass it on to my heirs. The price for the Retro P226, I am sure would be astronomical and probably only a few would buy it.

I’ve bought all of my West German Sigs (226,228, and 220) for $600 or less within the last couple years, and I still see them show up in LGS’s for around those prices. $1200 seems kind of silly.
If the slide is milled it is an imposter and a total fail. I also have one of the original West German guns with the folded and welded slide which to me is the best one ever made. I appreciate the effort and I am not mad, just disappointed. ;-)

I guess im gonna pick up that used p226 at my local fudd shop for $650 now lol
Very cool. Now please bring back the classic Sig two-tone!!!! Would be wonderful to get it a two-tone SAO Legion. Just saying.
What happened to the P225 relaunch?
For that price they should include a dvd copy of point break!
